JSON is one of the most widely used data-interchange format. There is a large number of tools open for modelling with i*. However, none of them provides supporting for JSON. In this paper we propose iStarJSON language, a JSON-based proposal for interchanging i* models. A mutual regulatory loop between miR-155 and SOCS1 influences renal inflammation and diabetic kidney disease

Diabetic kidney disease (DKD) is a common microvascular complication of diabetes, a global health issue. Hyperglycemia, in concert with cytokines, activates the Janus kinase (JAK)/ signal transducer and activator of transcription (STAT) pathway to induce inflammation and oxidative stress contributing to renal damage. There is evidence of microRNA-155 (miR-155) involvement in diabetes complications, but the underlying mechanisms are unclear. In this study, gain- and loss-of-function experiments were conducted to investigate the interplay between miR-155-5p and suppressor of cytokine signaling 1 (SOCS1) in the regulation of the JAK/STAT pathway during renal inflammation and DKD. In experimental models of mesangial injury and diabetes, miR-155-5p expression correlated inversely with SOCS1 and positively with albuminuria and expression levels of cytokines and prooxidant genes. In renal cells, miR-155-5p mimic downregulated SOCS1 and promoted STAT1/3 activation, cytokine expression, and cell proliferation and migration. Conversely, both miR-155-5p antagonism and SOCS1 overexpression protected cells from inflammation and hyperglycemia damage. In vivo, SOCS1 gene delivery decreased miR-155-5p and kidney injury in diabetic mice. Moreover, therapeutic inhibition of miR-155- 5p suppressed STAT1/3 activation and alleviated albuminuria, mesangial damage, and renal expression of inflammatory and fibrotic genes. The RISCOSS platform for risk management in open source software adoption

Managing risks related to OSS adoption is a must for organizations that need to smoothly integrate OSS-related practices in their development processes. Adequate tool support may pave the road to effective risk management and ensure the sustainability of such activity. In this paper, we present the RISCOSS platform for managing risks in OSS adoption. RISCOSS builds upon a highly configurable data model that allows customization to several types of scopes. It implements two different working modes: exploration, where the impact of decisions may be assessed before making them; and continuous assessment, where risk variables (and their possible consequences on business goals) are continuously monitored and reported to decision-makers. Differential profile in inflammatory and mineral metabolism biomarkers in patients with ischemic heart disease without classical coronary risk factors

AbstractBackgroundPatients with coronary heart disease (CHD) without classical cardiovascular risk factors (CRFs) are uncommon, and their profile has not been thoroughly studied. In CHD patients, we have assessed the differences in several biomarkers between those with and without CRF.MethodsWe studied 704 patients with CHD, analyzing plasma levels of biomarkers related to inflammation, thrombosis, renal damage, and heart failure: high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP), monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1), galectin-3, N-terminal fragment of brain natriuretic peptide (NT-pro-BNP), calcidiol (vitamin D metabolite), fibroblast growth factor-23 (FGF-23), parathormone, and phosphate.ResultsTwenty patients (2.8%) exhibited no CRFs. Clinical variables were well balanced in both groups, with the logical exceptions of no use of antidiabetic drugs, lower triglyceride and glucose, and higher high-density lipoprotein cholesterol in no-CRF patients.No-CRF patients showed lower hs-CRP (2.574±3.120 vs. 4.554±9.786mg/L; p=0.018), MCP-1 (114.75±36.29 vs. 143.56±65.37pg/ml; p=0.003), and FGF-23 (79.28±40.22 vs. 105.17±156.61RU/ml; p=0.024), and higher calcidiol (23.66±9.12 vs. 19.49±8.18ng/ml; p=0.025) levels. At follow-up, 10.0% vs. 11.0% patients experienced acute ischemic event, heart failure, or death in the non-CRF and CRF groups, respectively (p=0.815, log-rank test). The limited number of non-CRF patients may have influenced this finding. A Cox regression analysis in the whole population showed that high calcidiol, and low MCP-1 and FGF-23 plasma levels are associated with a better prognosis.ConclusionsCHD patients without CRFs show a favorable biomarker profile in terms of inflammation and mineral metabolism. Further studies are needed to investigate whether this difference translates into a better prognosis
