Physical Education and the development of autonomy: the perception of the students of Secondary Education

The Autonomy Support Perception Scale in the Physical Education Classes (EPAACEF), designed by the authors of this article and validated with adequate psychometric properties, was applied. The scale, containing 34 items, grouped in four dimensions, was applied to 721 students of secondary education (347 girls), with a mean age of 14.4 (± 1.5) years. These students receive PE classes of seven teachers, with specific training in PE and different teaching experience. The results show the appropriateness and validity of the EPAACEF, because it allows evaluating teacher behaviours from a more systemic perspective, being able to affirm that, according to the perception of the students, the behaviours that would support a development of their autonomy occur with a frequency «moderately low». Teachers obtain better results in the behaviours related to attention to motivation, and attention to cognitive and metacognitive development. They must attend more to the needs of students related to learning rhythms and encouraging suggestions and active participation. Analysing the EPAACEF globally, there are no significant differences in terms of gender and age, but exist in some of the dimension

Objectives The aim of this research was to analyse if the level of health literacy (HL) of nursing students changes throughout the study programme. Design A cross-sectional study with anonymous self reporting was conducted. Participants/setting 329 public university nursing students in Seville, Spain; 243 of the first year and 86 of the fourth. Interventions The short Spanish version of the Health Literacy Survey Questionnaire-European Union was used to evaluate HL. Primary and secondary outcome measures The proportions of the limited level of HL were compared between academic years and the crude and corrected OR were calculated with the Mantel-Haenszel test to evaluate the effect of confusion of the sex variable on the HL level and academic year relationship. A logistic regression model with step-by-step analysis was run, including the independent variables sex, age, marital status, academic year and HL level (limited/sufficient) as the dependent variable. Results 62.1% of the participants of the first year versus 47.7% of the fourth year had a limited literacy level for a crude OR of 1.5 (95% CI 1.10 to 2.21; p=0.014) and a corrected by sex OR of 1.8 (95% CI 1.10 to 2.96; p=0.026). Only the strata in women had a statistically significant relationship. The logistic regression model ratified that the HL was a function exclusive to the academic year. Conclusion The HL level of nursing students increases from the first to the fourth academic year, even when controlling for sex. Although the HL level in the fourth academic year was greater than that of the first, both groups had inadequate HL levels. It is hence recommended to implement intervention strategies, which reinforce in the curriculum the knowledge and experiences related with health communication and education to ensure that future professionals improve their HL. Achieving adequate HL is crucial to be able to provide care to patients, their families and the community

Explanation of the methodology and the computational tools developed to undertake a research project within the domain of the Digital Humanities. In particular, the main goal of this project is to study the publishing industry in Galicia during the Franquist period (1939-1975), to analyze whether there was a culturally-concerned publishing industry and to determine the extent to which this acted as a means of public diffusion, both of political resistance against Franquism as well as the commitment to the preservation and enhancement of the Galician cultural identity. After a brief introduction to the project, we present the methodology followed throughout the process of retrieval and cataloging of the lists of titles, we explain now the process of the massive importation of the catalogs of the most important Galician public libraries was carried out, as well as their technical features and, subsequently, we describe the computational tools designed. Finally, we point out the methodological problems found and the solutions adopted given their possible usefulness for similar projects. We consider that the way they were dealt with and the experience gained solving them constitute, in themselves, important contributions of this project to the area of digital humanities.

[EN] Currently, the aging of society is a major challenge worldwide. In this sense, policies are being aimed to enhancing the contribution of the elderly in all areas, including employment, as this reality also affects the aging of human resources in companies and institutions. In this final degree project, an intervention project is presented whose purpose is to improve personal capacities and prevent dependency situations of workers over 55 years old of the University Hospital Complex of Salamanca by promoting active aging in the workplace. The methodology chosen to achieve the planned objectives is based on intergenerational collaborative workshops taught by professionals belonging to the institution, which also serves as method for inclusive and social cohesion. From a comprehensive approach, which encompasses physical, mental, emotional, and social well-being, it is hoped that these workers maintain the maximum level possible of autonomy and continue to participate in society

An approach to employees’ job performance through work environmental variables and leadership behaviours

This study examines how the combined effects of work environmental factors and leadership behaviours lead to the presence (or absence) of industrial employees job performance by applying fuzzy-set qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA). A sample composed of supervisor-subordinate dyads was used to test the propositions of this study. The results show that the most important variables are transformational leadership and social support. Employee empowerment and task significance seem to play a secondary role in leading to employee job performance. These findings support the need for managers to use positive leadership to manage human resources. This paper contributes to the advancement of the knowledge of employee job performance through the identification of the combinations of conditions that can lead to the presence or absence of this important organizational outcome. Directions for future studies are commented on at the end of the paperS

[EN] This study analyzes the experiences of workers in hospital institutions to know the perception they have about their own aging. Through fieldwork, surveys, interviews and participant observation, we have obtained two different visions of the same reality: on the one hand, the individual feelings of health professionals of the University Hospital Complex of Salamanca over 55 years of age, and on the other, the perception of society represented by professionals of different categories, ages and cultures of this center and other hospitals. The results obtained reveal the clear difference established by the participants between being older and being old, and focus attention on the lack of strategies, programs and policies aimed at the well-being of older professionals in the workplace. The conclusions derived from this work will allow proposals for intervention in different workplaces to promote active and healthy aging
