Psychological Problems Derived from Mastectomy: A Qualitative Study
Advances in treatment of breast cancer have not avoided using
mastectomy in all cases, and when this happens, we are dealing
with a woman who is suffering from psychological problems. In
order to study this issue we have carried out a research with the
collaboration of The Andalusian Association of Women with
Mastectomies (AMAMA) in Seville, which provided us with a sample
of 46 mastectomized women. The objective of this study is to
analyze in depth the psychological reaction of women to mastectomy
through its different stages from diagnosis to surgical treatment.
We chose a cualitative method so as to explore the subjective
components of psicologycal respons. As a result, we found in
studied women: (a) The “fracture” of the
“corporal imaginary” related to the disappearance of a
valuable organ, linked to the feeling of loss of personal
attractiveness, low self-esteem and avoidance of social
relationships. (b) The problem with “femininity” has
been linked to the issue of “desirability”, something innate in
the “feminine position”. (c) Many of them keep in mind
the idea of mutilation, as a “hole” which is impossible to
integrate. (d) Finally, we demonstrate how certain features of
personality made them especially vulnerable to the explained
phenomena
Analysis of the Logistics of Home Delivery of Food and Household Goods. Implementation in Consum in the Valencia Area. Proposals for Improvement
[EN] The problem of urban distribution in large cities, particularly the home delivery of goods, does not have a simple solution, given that it involves a range of different factors and parties with different interests. The purpose of this article is to analyze the main characteristics of this service, which has been studied very little in urban logistics, with a view to proposing measures which will guarantee its sustainability economically, socially and environmentally. The analysis is applied to the company Consum, which will be studied in major detail and will then be followed by 29 actions (for this case of study). (C) 2016 The Authors. Organizaciones virtuales y redes neuronales. Algunas similitudes.
Contrasting the rhetoric of abstracts in medical discourse: Implications and applications for English/Spanish translation
Producción CientíficaThe present study aims at offering a contrastive analysis framework for the specific textual patterns of the expert-to-expert communicative setting from a semantic and a functional approach. Our methodology tries to identify patterns of behaviour in one of the genres that might be said to be exclusive of expert-to-expert discourse in medicine: abstracts. By means of describing regularities, differences in the way information is distributed will be pinpointed. Since textual realizations have been agreed to bridge the distance between the semantic and the functional component, cohesion will be analyzed both as a semantic marker and as an indicator of information distribution — pragmatic marker — according to functional constraints. ‘Ad hoc’ comparable and translation corpora have been built, extracted from medical journals with a significant impact. Intra and interlingual analysis of those corpora has been carried out to attain a comprehensive description of textual patterns from the above mentioned semantic, formal and functional parametrical levels.Junta de Castilla y León (2005–2007) - Project (UEMC01A05)Ministerio de Educación y Ciencia (HUM2005-01215
Elite coaches’ approach to quantifying technical actions and relative participation in volleyball players’ performance
This study sought to identify elite coaches' perception of the importance of technical actions and the consideration of relative participation to measure individual volleyball players' performance. An instrument was elaborated to gather the opinions of elite coaches on the importance of technical actions reported by the data volley (excluding setting), as well as considering relative participation. Twenty elite coaches with at least three years of experience in national teams or top leagues participated in the study. Variables considered in the study were analysed using descriptive statistics and reliability was measured with Cronbach's alpha and McDonald's Omega coefficients (>.70). The results assessed the importance of scoring actions, which received values of (1 point). All errors (terminal and continuity) were scored with (-1). Non-scoring actions were given values [.00,.80], except for poor attack (-.35), poor serve (-.60), free freeball (-.60) and reception free (-.50). Relative participation was considered according to the percentage of points and/or contacts played by each athlete. We concluded that for the player's points and/or contacts, priority is given to actions that win points directly or are excellent, followed by those that contribute to building comfortable attacks, while penalising errors
Gamification and Controversial Heritage: Trainee Teachers' Conceptions
Heritage education is configured as an ideal framework for the treatment of socio-environmental
problems relevant to modern society. To this end, it is essential that teachers can develop proposals in
the classroom that promote critical thinking and the eco-social education of their students, based on
innovative and experiential methodologies. For this reason, initial teacher training must ensure that
future teachers acquire these innovative tools. Thus, the aim of this work is to identify the conceptions
of student teachers in initial teacher training regarding gamification as a teaching methodology to
address controversial heritage. To achieve this, a questionnaire has been designed with questions
about heritage, controversy, and educational gamification, which was given to 235 students (M = 60;
F = 175) taking their primary education degrees at different Spanish universities. To guide the design
of the research instrument and analyze the results, a system of categories was developed and the SPSS
data processing program was used. The first results show that, even though students in initial teacher
training think that they do have a predisposition to use gamification to work around controversial
heritage in class, they lack the knowledge of methodological strategies and gamified educational
activities, which suggests a dearth of training on these issues in the primary education degree courses. This study is linked to the R&D+i project EPITEC2 “Controversial heritage for the eco-social formation of citizenship. Controversial heritage for eco-citizenship education in Social Science didactics Implications for initial teacher education
This chapter includes an approach to several concepts of current relevance, such as controversial issues, ecosocial education and citizenship education because heritage education is the ideal framework to develop educational experiences for the initial training of Social Sciences teachers, and specifically of History, that integrate controversial heritages for the education of a critical, participative and democratic eco-citizenship. Based on the review of these concepts, implications for teacher training are established, in the form of examples from the different perspectives of controversial heritages, as a proposal for the teaching of history. The review addresses the basic criteria that allow the design of didactic proposals which, through heritage and based on innovative, interactive, dynamic and participatory visions, link the experimentation of good educational practices with initial teacher training in order to approach eco-citizenship education through the analysis of socio-environmental problems and controversial issues of the past and present and their possible future projections. This publication is part of R+D+i Project EPITEC 2: PID2020–116662GB-I00, f inanced by MCIN/AEI/10.13039/501100011033/.
The need that patients receive clear information about their disease has emerged in the present, hence we propose studying
in this work how they get to integrate the diagnosis into their subjetivity. This process is not easy because that means
to assume something unpleasant that could change her life.
We used a sample of women with breast cancer diagnosis and applied a cualitative metodology consisting in a number
of interviews in which the verbal expressions about their illness has been accurately recorded. So, we were able to know
the particular experience of these patients related to the way that the progressive asimilation of the disease diagnosis was
possible.
Outcomes shows it is needed to differentiate three types of diagnosis: “medical” “comunicated” and “assimilated” and two
kind of well definite actions: that of the doctor : “the translation” , and that of the patient: “the grasp”.Finally, it is shown how the women studied deploy containment measures of emotional tension derived from knowledge
of the diagnosis, which are those impeding the subjectivationpost-print382 K
