    A Decision Tree and S-Transform Based Approach for Power Quality Disturbances Classification

    In this paper, it is presented an automated classification based on S-transform as feature extraction tool and Decision Tree as algorithm classifier. The signals generated according to mathematical models, including complex disturbances, have been used to design and test this approach, where noise is added to the signals from 40dB to 20dB. Finally, several disturbances, simple and complex, have been considered to test the implemented system. Evaluation results verifying the accuracy of the proposed method are presented.IEE

    La Horqueta Shear Zone, Sierra de Velasco, NW Argentina: petrography, geochemistry, structures and tectonic significance

    La Faja de Deformación La Horqueta (FDLH) es la sexta faja de cizalla reconocida en la sierra de Velasco, Sierras Pampeanas, NO de Argentina. Esta faja separa dos tipos de metagranitoides de características petrográficas y geoquímicas contrastadas: metagranodioritas, hacia el SO, consisten en granodioritas con biotita-allanita-titanita débilmente peraluminosas que se asemejan a los granitoides tipo I del sur de la sierra de Velasco y de sierras aledañas pertenecientes al arco magmático famatiniano, mientras que los metagranitos, hacia el NE, consisten en monzogranitos con biotita-muscovita fuertemente peraluminosos idénticos al Ortogneis Antinaco del norte de la sierra de Velasco, el cual pertenece a un cinturón de granitoides tipo S interno, respecto del arco famatiniano. La FDLH, desarrollada a partir de estos dos protolitos, tiene un espesor de 1 a 2 km y está compuesta por protomilonitas y milonitas que desarrollan una fuerte foliación milonítica de rumbo NNO y fuerte inclinación al E. El análisis cinemático indicaría un régimen deformacional transpresivo principal con componente inverso-sinestral, acompañado por una componente de transcurrencia destral N-S subordinada, que habría puesto en contacto ambos ambientes geotectónicos.The La Horqueta Shear Zone (LHSZ) is the sixth shear zone recognized in the Sierra de Velasco, Sie- rras Pampeanas, NW Argentina. This shear zone separates two types of metagranitoids of contrasting petrographical and geochemical characteristics: metagranodiorites, outcropping towards the SW, consist in weakly peraluminous biotite-allanite-titanite granodiorites similar to the I-type granitoids of southern Sierra de Velasco and of neighboring ranges that are part of the Famatinian magmatic arc, while metagranites, outcropping towards the NE, consist of strongly peraluminous biotite-muscovite monzogranites identical to the Antinaco Orthogneis of northern Sierra de Velasco, which is part of an inner S-type granitoid belt. The LHSZ, developed from these two protoliths, has a thickness of 1 to 2 km and is composed of protomyloni- tes and mylonites with strong NNW trending and E dipping mylonitic foliation. Cinematic analysis indicates a main transpressive deformational regime with an inverse-sinistral component, accompanied by a subordi- nate dextral transcurrent component, which possibly placed the two tectonic settings in contact.Fil: López, J.     Quantitative Modeling of the Impact of Video Content in the ITU-T G.1070 Video Quality Estimation Function

    In this paper we present an enhancement to the video quality estimation model described in ITU-T Recommendation G.1070 “Opinion model for video-telephony applications”, in order to include the impact of video content, for different display sizes and codecs. This enhancement provides a much better approximation of the model results with respect to the perceptual MOS values for a wide range of video contents. SAD (Sum of Absolute Differences) is used as an estimation of the video spatial-temporal activity, and is included as a new parameter in the model. The results are based on more than 1500 processed video clips, coded in MPEG-2 and H.264/AVC, in bit rate ranges from 50 kb/s to 12 Mb/s, in SD, VGA, CIF and QCIF display formats

    An approximation to technical efficiency in Spanish toll roads through a DEA approach

    This research has an academic approach to know the relative efficiency of toll roads managed by the Administración General del Estado through a DEA approach. The global technical efficiency, local pure technical efficiency and scale efficiency were estimated. Thus, the possible reasons why there is inefficiency and as reverse it. The great majority of toll roads are not fully effective according to the DEA approach, showing a greater global efficiency, with an increase in their return to scale, with the possibility of improvements in their efficiency levels.Peer ReviewedPostprint (published version

    Understanding the impact of line-of-sight in the ergodic spectral efficiency of cellular networks

    In this paper we investigate the impact of lineof-sight (LoS) condition in the ergodic spectral efficiency of cellular networks. To achieve this goal, we have considered the kappa-mu shadowed model, which is a general model that provides an excellent fit to a wide set of propagation conditions. To overcome the mathematical complexity of the analysis, we have split the analysis between large and small-scale effects. Building on the proposed framework, we study a number of scenarios that range from heavily-fluctuating LoS to deterministic-LoS.     Late vacuum choice and slow roll approximation in gravitational particle production during reheating

    In the transition between inflation and reheating, the curvature scalar typically undergoes oscillations which have significant impact on the density of gravitationally produced particles. The commonly used adiabatic vacuum prescription for the extraction of produced particle spectra becomes a non-reliable definition of vacuum in the regimes for which this oscillatory behavior is important. In this work, we study particle production for a scalar field non-minimally coupled to gravity, taking into account the complete dynamics of spacetime during inflation and reheating. We derive an approximation for the solution to the mode equation during the slow-roll of the inflaton and analyze the importance of Ricci scalar oscillations in the resulting spectra. Additionally, we propose a prescription for the vacuum that allows to safely extrapolate the result to the present, given that the test field interacts only gravitationally. Lastly, we calculate the abundance of dark matter this mechanism yields and compare it to observations.Comment: 24 pages, 11 figure

    Impact on the Hipparcos2-UCAC4 geometric relation from some physical properties of the stars

    [EN] The aim of this paper is the study of the impact that the consideration of different physical properties as magnitude and spectral type of stars has on the geometric relations between Hipparcos2 and UCAC4. In this sense, the pairs of residuals ¿¿ ¿ and ¿¿ can be considered as functions of (¿, ¿, r) and for each fixed r, we can fit a vector field on the sphere from which to obtain its components in the VSH basis. The same can be done by grouping the stars considering their magnitudes, spectral types (or mixing them) and then studying the variations in the mentioned geometry. We must not forget that ¿¿ ¿ and ¿¿ are numerical random variables whose regression on the magnitude m, for example, can be estimated.
