    Effect of preliminary vacuum plasma treatment on coating adhesion

    The paper presents research results on the adhesion properties of Si coatings synthesized by different methods and under different conditions of preliminary vacuum ion plasma treatment of substrates with subsequent magnetron sputtering. The substrate surface was pretreated with low-energy ion beams, high-energy ion beams, gas discharge plasma, and plasma produced by a magnetron sputtering system. The vacuum conditions (pump type, pressure, etc.), the ion current density, and the bias parameters (pulse repetition frequency and duration) were varied. The research results demonstrate a considerable effect of plasma immersion ion implantation on the adhesion of Si coatings to NiTi substrates

    The paper presents research results demonstrating the influence of bias on the homogeneity of plasma immersion ion implantation. The research results allow the conclusion that plasma immersion ion implantation can be used to advantage for surface modification of medical materials, e.g., nickel-titanium (NiTi) alloys. In particular, doing of NiTi with silicon at pulsed bias provides highly homogeneous surface treatment

    Plasma immersion ion implantation for the efficient surface modification of medical materials

    The paper reports on a new method of plasma immersion ion implantation for the surface modification of medical materials using the example of nickel-titanium (NiTi) alloys much used for manufacturing medical implants. The chemical composition and surface properties of NiTi alloys doped with silicon by conventional ion implantation and by the proposed plasma immersion method are compared. It is shown that the new plasma immersion method is more efficient than conventional ion beam treatment and provides Si implantation into NiTi surface layers through a depth of a hundred nanometers at low bias voltages (400 V) and temperatures (≤150°C) of the substrate. The research results suggest that the chemical composition and surface properties of materials required for medicine, e.g., NiTi alloys, can be successfully attained through modification by the proposed method of plasma immersion ion implantation and by other methods based on the proposed vacuum equipment without using any conventional ion beam treatment

    MnBi2Se4-based magnetic modulated heterostructures

    Thin films of magnetic topological insulators (TIs) are expected to exhibit a quantized anomalous Hall effect when the magnetizations on the top and bottom surfaces are parallel and a quantized topological magnetoelectric effect when the magnetizations have opposite orientations. Progress in the observation of these quantum effects was achieved earlier in the films with modulated magnetic doping. On the other hand, the molecular-beam-epitaxy technique allowing the growth of stoichiometric magnetic van der Waals blocks in combination with blocks of topological insulator was developed. This approach should allow the construction of modulated heterostructures with the desired architecture. In the present paper, based on the first-principles calculations, we study the electronic structure of symmetric thin film heterostructures composed of magnetic MnBi2Se4 blocks (septuple layers, SLs) and blocks of Bi2Se3 TI (quintuple layers, QLs) in dependence on the depth of the magnetic SLs relative to the film surface and the TI spacer between them. Among considered heterostructures we have revealed those characterized by nontrivial band topology

    Interplay of Topological States on TI/TCI Interfaces

    Based on first-principles calculations, we study electronic structure of interfaces between a Z2 topological insulator (TI) SnBi2Te4 and a topological crystalline insulator (TCI) SnTe. We consider two interface models characterized by the different atomic structure on the contact of the SnTe(111) and SnBi2Te4(0001) slabs: the model when two materials are connected without intermixing (abrupt type of interface) and the interface model predicted to be realized at epitaxial immersion growth on topological insulator substrates (smooth interface). We find that a strong potential gradient at the abrupt interface leads to the redistribution of the topological states deeper from the interface plane which prevents the annihilation of the Γ¯ Dirac states, predicted earlier. In contrast, a smooth interface is characterized by minor charge transfer, which promotes the strong interplay between TI and TCI Γ¯ Dirac cones leading to their complete annihilation.The M¯ topologically protected Dirac state of SnTe(111) survives irrespective of the interface structure.This research was funded by Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation (state task No. 0721-2020-0033), the Government research assignment for ISPMS SB RAS, project No. III.23.2.9

    Infrastructure of Cultural Leisure in Consumer Society in Student View: Prospects and Problems of Promotion

    The formation of the cultural leisure infrastructure structures the modern space in a special way and contributes to the formation of a new leisure sphere of modern society. The cultural leisure industry today is not only and not so much a training field, but a huge segment of the country's leisure market. The purpose of the study is to study the features of the cultural leisure infrastructure and its role in the representation of students. Research methods: as a research method, a questionnaire survey was used as a method of collecting primary information, which allows us to identify various aspects related to students' ideas about the ways and problems associated with spending free time. Research results: the article considers the role of leisure in the consumer society. The features of the development of leisure infrastructure are revealed. The novelty and originality of the study lies in the fact that for the first time the field of leisure is considered in the representation of students. It is revealed that leisure time for students is a criterion for identifying the status of a person, acts, as a social marker of a certain lifestyle, is a sphere of manifestation of different capabilities of an individual. It is determined that leisure is often aimed not so much at enjoying free time, as at filling the consumption of non-working time. For the first time, the reasons for the visiting of students in leisure studios are shown. It is revealed that there is a randomness of choice; the desire to find new meanings; a way of searching for oneself. It is shown that students note the leisure industry as a sector where, for a certain fee, the client buys not only the opportunity to spend time, but also new goals and ways of self-expression. It is determined that today leisure studios are not just a place where classes are held twice a week, but also a well-organized recreational space. Leisure studios are organized in such a way that a person who is engaged in, who is interested in it, feels that he belongs to a certain clan. It is revealed that the leisure industry sells not just services, but mood, and it is the leisure studios organized on this principle that are the most successful in the market of leisure services. From the point of view of students, an important role in the leisure industry is played by the teacher, as a guide to the world of hobbies. It is determined that it is the presence of a teacher that structures training in a special way. Practical significance: The data obtained in this work can be used in marketing research, economic sciences, advertising psychology, as well as for further theoretical development of this issue

    Plasma immersion ion implantation for surface treatment of complex branched structures

    The paper presents experimental results demonstrating the capabilities of plasma immersion ion implantation of silicon (Si) for surface treatment of complex branched structures such are self-expanding intravascular nickel-titanium (NiTi) stents. Using NiTi stents of diameter 4 and 8 mm, it is shown that plasma immersion ion implantation can provide rather homogeneous doping of their outer and inner surfaces with Si atoms. Also presented are research data on the processes that determine the thickness, composition, and structure of surface layers subjected to this type of treatment

    Arctic Development: How to Avoid Loss of Quality when Winning Speed?

    Questions of the Arctic policy are in the center of attention of the Russian scientific community for a long time. It is result of objective awareness of the importance of this problematics and reaction to inquiry of the state. Recognition of relevance of the matter involves also certain problems. Obvious positive results of the last ten years cannot be treated as a guarantee of progress and to mechanically extrapolate achievements of a present situation for the next years. It is not necessary “to drive” itself into a rigid framework of quantitative indices, this problem of the previous development periods sometimes receives an unexpected recurrence today. In this article, the main attention is paid to questions of staging of development, need of a support on the traditional centers of development, expediency of priorities of development of the European part of the Arctic. The attempt to jump through a stage or space can weaken positive trends of development of the Arctic. The role of St. Petersburg and the small Russian Northwest in development of the Arctic is especially noted
