Ecological footprint, energy usage, and economic progress relationship: the MINT countries

This study explores the relationship between energy usage, per capita income, and ecological footprint as an assessment for ecological deterioration in the MINT (Mexico, Indonesia, Nigeria, Turkey) countries for the 1976–2016 period. This work estimates the long-term correlation between variables using a vector error correction model through panel vector autoregression analysis. By incorporating endogenous interactions between the variables in the system, the VAR approach addresses the endogeneity problem. Also, the impulse response functions and the effects of variables on certain lags are evaluated. Then, the cointegration between variables has been estimated with dynamic and fully modified ordinary least squares panel analysis to assess the longterm relationship further. After the examinations, a satisfactory Granger causality result of the short-term variables could not be achieved. However, the same cannot be said for long-run causality. In the impulse-response functions, the interactions of the variables on each other are evaluated. Only the increase in energy consumption, whose coefficient is statistically significant and coherent, increases the flexibility of the ecological footprint

Mekân tasvirlerinin yer aldığı şiirler okura, şairlerin mekanı nasıl anlattıklarını değerlendirme ve mekana ilişkin bazı bilgilere ulaşma imkanı sunar. Bu konuda yapılacak çalışmalar için Divan şiiri de zengin bir kaynaktır. Divan şiirine taşınan mekanların en ünlülerinden biri ise, Sultan III. Ahmed döneminde imar edilerek Sa'dâbâd adı verilen Kağıdhane'dir. Şiirlerde, Kâğıdhâne'nin eski halinden pek söz edilmediği, daha çok Sa'dâbâd kasrının ve Sa'dâbâd'ın tasvir edildiği görülmektedir. Bedeutung der Gesetzgebung zur Luftreinhaltung in der Prävention umweltbedingter Erkrankungen

Air pollution, for example from particulate matter, nitrogen oxides or ozone, is harmful to health. Short-term increases in air pollution can lead to exacerbation of existing lung diseases. Long-term air pollution contributes to the development of cardiorespiratory diseases. According to the European Environment Agency, 53,000 people prematurely died in Germany in 2019 due to particulate matter pollution. Air pollution control is a political task with great public health potential. In recent years, it has significantly contributed to improving air quality and thus health. In view of the new more stringent World Health Organization (WHO) air quality guidelines, the authorities and policy makers worldwide are now confronted with the question of adjusting air quality targets and setting standards. In Europe, the EU Directive on air quality standards is passed by the EU Parliament and the Council of the EU and is binding for air quality targets of member states. Member states can be brought to court for failure to achieve the targets. Therefore, there is a risk that achievable and less ambitious air pollution targets will be set. Even now, the EU guideline values are significantly higher than those in the USA or Switzerland. While "only" 11% of the EU population were exposed to levels above the current EU limit for PM10 in 2020, 71% of the population were exposed to hazardous levels of PM10 following the new recommendation by the WHO. Among the most important and successful air pollution control measures is the reduction of air pollutants at the source: emission control. Despite the energy crisis goals regarding air pollution control and climate protection must not be ignored. Importantly, health protection cannot be left to individuals. Health professionals have an important clinical role in advising sensitive patients on how to deal with short-term elevated levels of air pollutants but beyond that their advisory role in policy is very significant

The Relationship between English and Math Success & some Variables at Freshman Level

Recent studies show that proficiency or success in a subject might correlate with some other subjects. For example; if a student is good at math, s/he tends to be successful in physics or chemistry. Starting from this point and based on our own observations, an interest about the possible relationship between success in English as a foreign language learning and mathematics emerged. Therefore, the intend of present study was to examine the link between the freshman students’ success in foreign language learning (Leng 101 course) and mathematics (Math 151 course) at the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Gaziantep in relation with some variables namely; their gender and departments they studied. The results revealed significant relation between Leng 101 and Math 151 final grades (p<0,01) and a significant difference among the departments in terms of success in foreign language (p<0,01). Moreover, an independent samples test revealed a significant difference in English as a foreign language success between genders (p<0,01).
