A study of multiparticle fragmentation in K+p interactions at 32 GeV/c

No full text
Results are presented on inclusive production of resonant and non-resonant particle systems produced in K+p interactions at 32 GeV/c. We compare K*+(892), {Mathematical expression}(1385), Σ*±(1385), and ρ{variant}0 inclusive x-spectra with the ones of non-resonant Ks0π±, {Mathematical expression}, Λπ± and π+π- pairs at the same effective mass. Resonance-particle pairs K*+π±, Σ*+π-, and {Mathematical expression} are also studied together with non-resonant triplets Ks0π±, Λπ+π-, {Mathematical expression}. The invariant x-spectra of resonant particle pairs decrease less rapidly with x then the corresponding non-resonant pairs. Comparison with quark-recombination predictions indicates that the particles, resonances and multiparticle systems are probably created off a single valence quark or diquark instead of carrying all possible valence-quarks. © 1982 Springer-Verlag.SCOPUS: ar.jinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishe

Inclusive K*+(1430), K*0(1430), and f(1270) production in K+p interactions at 32 GeV/c

Results are presented on total and semiinclusive cross sections, longitudinal and transverse momentum distributions of the tensor mesons K*+(1430), K*0(1430), and f(1270) observed in K+p interactions at 32 GeV/c. The data are compared with K*+(892). K*0(896) and ρ{variant}0 vector meson production in the same experiment. The shapes of inclusive invariant x-spectra for the strange vector and tensor mesons are found to be rather similar, after removal of diffractive and quasi-two-body channels, in agreement with quark-recombination ideas. © 1982 Springer-Verlag.SCOPUS: ar.jinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishe

Charged pion production in 32GeV/c K+p interactions

Final data on topological cross sections are presented. Inclusive single particle distributions for the reactions K+p→ π±X at 32 GeV/c are discussed and compared with data at lower energies. Early scaling in the fragmentation regions is confirmed, while cross sections in th central region continue to rise with energy even faster than in pp interactions. The x-and pT-dependence of the π+/π- ratio in K+p interactions is discussed and a comparison of reactions K+p→ π±X and K-p→ π±X at 32 GeV/c is made in the context of constituent models. We also present transverse momentum distributions, show prominent seagull effects and study how they are influenced by resonance production. © 1980 Springer-Verlag.SCOPUS: ar.jinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishe

The inclusive cross sections for forward D meson production at √s = 26 Gev in π-p interactions have been measured to be: σ(π̅p→D0/D−0)XF>0 = (10.1±2.2) μb, σ(π̅p→D± + X)XF>0 = (5.7±1.6) μb . The distribution in XFfor all D and for XF > 0 has the form dσ/dXF = 107+39-37(1-XF)7.5+2.5-1.7 + 5.4+6.0-3.8(1-XF)0.71.0-0.7μb, with evidence for leading D production. The P2T distribution is exponential with slope parameter [−1.18+0.18−0.16](GeV/c)−2. The data are compared with predictions from first-order quark/gluon fusion calculations
