Przenikalność elektryczna i magnetyczna wolframianów kadmu, kobaltu, manganu, miedzi i metali ziem rzadkich

Electrical resistivity, dielectric constant, thermoelectric power, magnetic susceptibility, magnetization, and electron paramagnetic resonance measurements carried out on MPr2W2Oio (M = Cd, Co, Mn), CdRE2W20 ,o (RE = Y, Nd, Sm, Gd-Er), RE2W20 9 (RE = Pr, Nd, Sm-Gd), CuEu2W2Oio and Cu3Eu2W4 0 i8 compounds revealed an insulating State and both a weak hole and electron conduction as well as a paramagnetic state above 4.2 K for all compounds under study. Only for MnPr2W2Oio a ferrimagnetic order below the Curie temperature Tc = 45 K. was observed. The tungstates containing Y, Sm and Eu elements showed a weak response to the magnetic field characteristic for the multiplet widths comparable to the thermal energy. The broadband dielectric spectroscopy measurements revealed anomaly large value of the relative permittivity (er=884) for MnPr2W2Oio, the smaller one (er=l 56) for CoPr2W2Oio and the smallest one (er=22) for CdPr2W2Oio at Iow frequency (v=0.1 Hz) and above room temperature in the insulating and paramagnetic State. Below 273 K the relative permittivity (sr~24) does not depend significantly on frequency. For all CdRE2W2Oio tungstates (RE = Y, Nd, Sm, Gd-Er) a relatively Iow dielectric permittivity (er ~ 15) was also found. In case o f CuEu2W2Oio £r ~ 29 and for Cu3Eu2W4 0 is £r ~ 217 were measured. The main conclusion is that only these ions which have the unscreened electrons on the unfilled shells are responsible for the colossal dielectric effect. All the tungstates under study show the values o f the magnetic permittivity ^ir < 1.023, characteristic for the paramagnets. Some o f them like as Gd2W2C>9, CdNd2W2Oio and CdGd2W2Oio showed the superparamagnetic-like behaviour connected with the weak spinorbit coupling

Zanieczyszczenia środowiska a działalność proekologiczna w Polsce w 2015 roku w świetle wielowymiarowej analizy porównawczej

Rozwój cywilizacyjny niesie z sobą postępujący proces degradacji środowiska. Aby zapobiec ewentualnie ograniczyć skutki tego procesu, podejmuje się działania proekologiczne. Celem artykułu jest ukazanie kształtowania się tych dwóch zjawisk w ujęciu regionalnym w Polsce. Obydwa zjawiska należą do kategorii złożonych, stąd w ich badaniu stosuje się narzędzia wielowymiarowej analizy porównawczej. Wzięto pod uwagę jeszcze jedno zjawisko (proste) tj. wielkość ponoszonych nakładów na środki trwałe służące środowisku. Zbudowano trzy rankingi województw ze względu na wymienione zjawiska: • stopień zanieczyszczenia środowiska, • wielkość nakładów na środki trwałe, służących środowisku, • poziom działalności proekologicznej. Otrzymane rankingi oraz porównania międzyrankingowe pozwalają sformułować wniosek, iż działania proekologiczne realizowane w Polsce nie nadążają za zanieczyszczeniami środowiska

Gospodarka Oparta na Wiedzy jako strategia rozwoju gospodarczego XXI wieku

Knowledge based economy as an economic development strategy of the 21st century. The spread of a new type of economy, knowledge-based economy is one of the most significant changes that we observe in the modern world. This process is a gradual transition from energy and material economy to economy based on information and knowledge. As a result of this, the hitherto competition among countries and regions through material resources is slowly being replaced by competing through non-material resources, especially through information, knowledge and new technologies. The prospects of development of countries and regions are increasingly determined by human intellectual potential and science. Construction of the new economy based on innovation is in the twenty-first century the main challenge for countries and regions, the aim of which is to achieve a high level of socio-economic development and competitiveness. The author of the speech presents theoretical foundations of the new economy, conditions of its construction and explains the universality of changes that it introduces. He also indicates its key meaning for the socio-economic development and for the processes of regional and international integration in the modern world, as a result of which knowledge-based economy increasingly aspires to the role of a generally accepted strategy for economic development in the era of globalization.Artur Jan Kukuł

Expansion of water chestnut in a small dam reservoir: from pioneering colony to dense floating mat

Background and Purpose: This manuscript reports on the rapid spread of water chestnut in a shallow dam reservoir. The water chestnut is a critically endangered plant in Poland. Materials and Methods: From 2008 to 2016 during the vegetation season we investigated the distribution of water chestnut in the Rzeszów dam reservoir.Results: The colony has grown from sparse individual plants which probably appeared around 2005, to a dense floating mat of plants with the total area of over 14 ha today. Recently water chestnut has also appeared in all shallow parts of the reservoir with weak water flow. Conclusions: Taking into consideration the dynamic expansion of the water chestnut, it can be assumed that in the near future this species may control many parts of the Rzeszów reservoir, while in others it can be displaced by reeds. It is highly probable then that the total area of water chestnut patches will decrease, rather than increase.</p

Zgorzelec – bilans otwarcia Studium przypadku miasta transgranicznego w perspektywie przemian gospodarczych i europejskiej integracji

W niniejszym opracowaniu podjęta została próba scharakteryzowania zasadniczych czynników, które miały wpływ na przemiany przestrzenne w miastach, w okresie ostatnich dwóch dekad. Przypadkiem studialnym, na którego podstawie Autorzy starali się o pewne uogólnienia, było miasto Zgorzelec. Stanowi ono przykład o tyle szczególny, że jest miastem podzielonym granicą państwową, a jego przestrzenne „dopełnienie” to niemieckie miasto Görlitz. Ocena efektywności kompresji mammogramów

Background: Lossy image coding significantly improves performance over lossless methods, but a reliable control of diagnostic accuracy regarding compressed images is necessary. The acceptable range of compression ratios must be safe with respect to as many objective criteria as possible. This study evaluates the compression efficiency of digital mammograms in both numerically lossless (reversible) and lossy (irreversible) manner. Effective compression methods and concepts were examined to increase archiving and telediagnosis performance. Materials/Methods Lossless compression as a primary applicable tool for medical applications was verified on a set 131 mammograms. Moreover, nine radiologists participated in the evaluation of lossy compression of mammograms. Subjective rating of diagnostically important features brought a set of mean rates given for each test image. The lesion detection test resulted in binary decision data analyzed statistically. The radiologists rated and interpreted malignant and benign lesions, representative pathology symptoms, and other structures susceptible to compression distortions contained in 22 original and 62 reconstructed mammograms. Test mammograms were collected in two radiology centers for three years and then selected according to diagnostic content suitable for an evaluation of compression effects. Results: Lossless compression efficiency of the tested coders varied, but CALIC, JPEG-LS, and SPIHT performed the best. The evaluation of lossy compression effects affecting detection ability was based on ROC-like analysis. Assuming a two-sided significance level of p=0.05, the null hypothesis that lower bit rate reconstructions are as useful for diagnosis as the originals was false in sensitivity tests with 0.04 bpp mammograms. However, verification of the same hypothesis with 0.1 bpp reconstructions suggested their acceptance. Moreover, the 1 bpp reconstructions were rated very similarly to the original mammograms in the diagnostic quality evaluation test, but the quality of 0.6 bpp and 0.1 bpp reconstructions was decreased. Conclusions: The compression performance of the most effective reversible coders is rather unsatisfactory. The subjective rating with the diagnostic criteria of image quality was more sensitive to distortions caused by lossy compression compared with the pathology detection test. The observers constituted 14:1 as the accepted ratio of lossy wavelet compression for test mammograms. This is significantly higher than the mean ratio of 2:1 achieved with lossless methods
