How can an enterprise survive competition? Information management requirements
Artykuł przedstawia wpływ warunków otoczenia na przetrwanie organizacjiThe surrounding conditions of an organization are a special challenge regarding communication and information flow both internal and external. By becoming more and more international, a world wide communication network has to be established. Services have to be accompanied by a high standard of information. Learning will be regarded as a life time task. To meet the need of the vitality of society, a change in management has to be established, especially from salesman to consumer. This paper presents the impact of the surrounding conditions on the survival of a compan
Demands and stress before and during the COVID-19 pandemic of parents to children with autism spectrum disorder
Introduction: Parents to children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) face diverse daily demands that can lead to stress. The aim of this study was to examine to which extent stress in parents to children with ASD can be explained by daily demands before and during the COVID-19 pandemic (after lockdowns; first half of 2022), and whether there are differences between the two time periods in this regard.
Methods: Data from parents to children with ASD living in Germany from two independent questionnaire studies (before the pandemic: N = 168, during the pandemic: N = 105) were matched for comparability. Simple and multiple linear regression analyses were used to answer the research question.
Results: Parental stress as well as all demands examined showed higher levels during the COVID-19 pandemic than before. Significant predictors of parental stress before and during the COVID-19 pandemic were (1) the daily demands to deal with the child’s problem behavior, (2) the restriction of one’s personal way of life, and (3) the challenge to cooperate with the partner. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the child’s problem behavior was particularly relevant. It was also found that the demand to deal with stigmatizing reactions did not explain parental stress during the COVID-19 pandemic whereas before the pandemic it had been a significant predictor.
Discussion: Although parental stress and the demands of daily life increased during the pandemic, most of the stress can be explained by the same demands. It is suggested that the increased levels may be due to an increase in the child’s ASD symptomatology, which is why it is advisable to install therapeutic and care structures that prepare children with ASD for future crises
Spectroscopic Links Among Giant Planet Irregular Satellites and Trojans
We collect near-infrared spectra () of four Jovian
irregular satellites and visible spectra () of two Jovian
irregular satellites, two Uranian irregular satellites, and four Neptune
Trojans. We find close similarities between observed Jovian irregular
satellites and previously characterized Jovian Trojans. However, irregular
satellites' unique collisional histories complicate comparisons to other
groups. Laboratory study of CM and CI chondrites show that grain size and
regolith packing conditions strongly affect spectra of dark, carbonaceous
materials. We hypothesize that different activity histories of these objects,
which may have originally contained volatile ices that subsequently sublimated,
could cause differences in regolith grain-size or packing properties and
therefore drive spectral variation. The Uranian satellites Sycorax and Caliban
appear similar to TNOs. However, we detect a feature near 0.7 on
Sycorax, suggesting the presence of hydrated materials. While the sample of
Neptune Trojans have more neutral spectra than the Uranian satellites we
observe, they remain consistent with the broad color distribution of the Kuiper
belt. We detect a possible feature near 0.65-0.70 on Neptune Trojan
2006 RJ103, suggesting that hydrated material may also be present in this
population. Characterizing hydrated materials in the outer solar system may
provide critical context regarding the origins of hydrated CI and CM chondrite
meteorites. We discuss how the hydration state(s) of the irregular satellites
constrains the thermal histories of the interiors of their parent bodies, which
may have formed among the primordial Kuiper belt.Comment: 4 Tables, 8 Figures. Accepted to PS
Osmium-Nitrosyl Oxalato-Bridged Lanthanide-Centered Pentanuclear Complexes - Synthesis, Crystal Structures and Magnetic Properties
International audienceA series of pentanuclear heterometallic coordination compounds of the general formula (Bu 4 N) 5 [Ln{Os(NO)(μ-ox)-Cl 3 } 4 (H 2 O) n ] [Ln = Y (for 2) and Dy (for 3) when n = 0; Ln = Dy (for 3), Tb (for 4), and Gd (for 5) when n = 1] were synthesized by the reaction of the precursor (Bu 4 N) 2 [Os(NO)(ox)-Cl 3 ] (1) with the respective lanthanide(III) (Gd, Tb, Dy) or yttrium(III) chloride. For the five new complexes, the coordination numbers eight or nine are found for the central metal ion. The compounds were fully characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy, single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis, magnetic susceptibility measurements, and ESI mass spectrometry. In addition, compound 1 was studied by UV/Vis spectroscopy and cyclic voltammetry. The X-ray dif-fraction analyses revealed that the anionic complexes consist of a lanthanide or yttrium core bridged through oxalato li-gands to four octahedral osmium-nitrosyl moieties. This picture , in which the central ion is eight-coordinate, holds fo

Functional mammalian spliceosomal complex E contains SMN complex proteins in addition to U1 and U2 snRNPs

They assemble de novo on each intron through a series of steps that involve the incorporation of five snRNP particles and multiple non-snRNP proteins. In mammals, all the intermediate complexes have been characterized on one transcript (MINX), with the exception of the very first, complex E. We have purified this complex by two independent procedures using antibodies to either U1-A or PRPF40A proteins, which are known to associate at an early stage of assembly. We demonstrate that the purified complexes are functional in splicing using commitment assays. These complexes contain components expected to be in the E complex and a number of previously unrecognized factors, including survival of motor neurons (SMN) and proteins of the SMN-associated complex. Depletion of the SMN complex proteins from nuclear extracts inhibits formation of the E complex and causes non-productive complexes to accumulate. This suggests that the SMN complex stabilizes the association of U1 and U2 snRNPs with pre-mRNA. In addition, the antibody to PRPF40A precipitated U2 snRNPs from nuclear extracts, indicating that PRPF40A associates with U2 snRNPs
