Listening to the Snake; or, On Having a Spine
The western prohibition of reflection on what we call today religion begins not with a banned scholarly monograph or a taunted academic, but with a myth about a transgressive desire for mature moral knowledge and a subsequent sexual emotion, namely, Adam and Even\u27s shameful sense of being naked after accepting the serpent\u27s gift of the knowledge of good and evil. Elsewhere, I have explored some of the ways that western religions thought has sexualized this foundational myth in order to take up this gnosis as my own and explore the problems and promises of sexual desire, gender difference, sexual orientation, love, mortality, and -- above all -- the inescapably transgressive nature of radical thinking about religion in the contemporary academy
Role of Radiographic Evolution: An Aid to Diagnose Periodontal Disease
In periodontics, the main purpose of radiography is to detect the level of the alveolar bone including the pattern and extent of loss of the bone. Measurements which are of linear from the cement-enamel junction to the crest of the alveolar bone and from the cement enamel junction to the bone defect base are commonly used to measure the bone height and bone defects. In radiographs, the periodontal ligament space, lamina dura and periapical region are seen and also helpful in identifying risk, such as calculus and dislodged restorations. Radiographs can provide information for proper diagnosis and treatment planning, which can provide information for the assessment of accurate treatment outcomes
Supportive Periodontal Therapy for Dental Implant Patients
Some of the early indicators of future implant failure are increased plaque accumulation, bleeding upon probing, increased probing pocket depth, abscess formation, bone loss seen under radiographic, retrograde tooth wear and broken restoration. A periodic supportive periodontal treatment visit allows for early detection and intervention to provide an opportunity to salvage an ailing implant. Presence of biofilm/plaque on the implant may progress to peri-implantitis with bone resorption. Microbial challenge in the oral environment may result in pathological reactions in peri-implant tissues and thereby compromising tissue integration. The long-term success of implants depends on adequate supportive periodontal treatment visits. Prevention of disease is a key factor in the aim of preserving the supporting tissues around implants. Thus, sufficient supportive therapy during maintenance is inevitable in order to achieve optimal results in implant dentistry

EPR, optical absorption and superposition model studies of Cr3+
Electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) study of Cr3+ doped cesium tetrabromozincate (CTBZ) single crystal is done at room temperature. The hyperfine structure for Cr53 isotope is also obtained. Two magnetically inequivalent sites for Cr3+ are observed. The spin Hamiltonian parameters are evaluated as: D = 234├Ч10-4cm-1, E = 69├Ч10-4cm-1, g = 2.0104, A = 80├Ч10-4 cm-1 for site I and D = 235├Ч10-4 cm-1, E = 70├Ч10-4cm-1, g = 2.0061, A = 82├Ч10-4cm-1 for site II, respectively. The optical absorption spectra are recorded at room temperature. The energy values of different orbital levels are determined. The values of various parameters obtained are: B = 602 cm-1, C = 2504 cm-1, Dq = 1870 cm-1, h = 1.63 and k = 0.21, where B and C are Racah parameters, Dq is crystal field parameter, and h and k are nephelauxetic parameters, respectively. Theoretical zero-field splitting (ZFS) parameters for Cr3+ at two sites in CTBZ are evaluated using superposition model and microscopic spin Hamiltonian theory. The theoretical ZFS parameters are in good agreement with the experimental values
Crystalline Field Effect on bonding Parameters of VO2+ Ion
The interpretation of g factor of the VO2+ ion doped in defferent single crystals is made using the Stevens model where the symmetry of the crystalline field is tetragonal. The bonding parameters K|| and KтФ┤, choosing the different parametric angle ╬▓, are determined. The value of KтФ┤ should be less than 0.048 in order to have a better fit to the experimental g values
Zero field splitting parameter of Mn2+ doped guanidine zinc sulphate crystal -a theoretical study
A theoretical investigation of crystal field parameters (CFP) and zero-field splitting (ZFS) parameter D of Mn2+ doped guanidine zinc sulphate (GZS) crystals at room temperature (RT) is done with the help of superposition model and the perturbation theory. The ZFS parameter D determined here is in good agreement with the experimental value reported earlier. The conclusion of experimental study that Mn2+ substitutes for Zn2+ in GZS is supported by our theoretical investigation. The values of D without and with local distortion are 11174.3├Ч10-4 cm-1 and 702.4 ├Ч10-4 cm-1, respectively, while the experimental value is 702.0├Ч10-4 cm-1
