The Ground State of the ``Frozen'' Electron Phase in Two-Dimensional Narrow-Band Conductors with a Long-Range Interelectron Repulsion. Stripe Formation and Effective Lowering of Dimension

In narrow-band conductors a weakly screened Coulomb interelectron repulsion can supress narrow-band electrons' hopping, resulting in formation of a ``frozen'' electron phase which differs principally from any known macroscopic self-localized electron state including the Wigner crystal. In a zero-bandwidth limit the ``frozen'' electron phase is a classical lattice system with a long-range interparticle repulsion. The ground state of such systems has been considered in the case of two dimensions for an isotropic pair potential of the mutual particle repulsion. It has been shown that particle ordering into stripes and effective lowering of dimension universally resides in the ground state for any physically reasonable pair potential and for any geometry of the conductor lattice. On the basis of this fact a rigorous general procedure to fully describe the ground state has been formulated. Arguments have been adduced that charge ordering in High-T_c superconductors testifies to presence of a ``frozen'' electron phase in these systems.Comment: 5 pages, LaTeX 2.09, 1 figure in external PostScript files. Problems of the origin and functioning of the ukrainian scientific and technical disco

У статті порушено питання про сучасний стан українського науково-технічного мовлення. Визначено, що на його формування і функціювання впливала низка негативних чинників, з-поміж яких основними були різноманітні заборони на використання української мови (у книгодрукуванні, освіті, офіційному спілкуванні) у царській Росії та в радянський період. Зазначено, що за роки незалежності в Україні було досягнуто певного прогресу щодо формування та функціювання українського науково-технічного мовлення (проведено низку конференцій, присвячених дослідженню проблем української термінології i науково-технічного мовлення; збільшився обсяг науково-технічної літератури, друкованої українською мо- вою; українську мову почали більш активно використовувати в ланках освіти (як середній, так i вищій); зросла кількість різноманітних лексикографічних видань (двомовних технічних словників, довідників, ен- циклопедій i т. ін.): українську мову впроваджують в обслуговування виробничих процесів різноманітних галузей). Водночас аналіз загального стану розвитку та функціювання українського науково-технічного мовлення засвідчив, що на сучасному етапі його не можна вважати задовільним. У цьому зв’язку запропоновано низку заходів соціально-політичного i лінгвістичного характеру, що спрямовані на підвищення рівня українського науково-технічного мовлення (впровадження української мови в усі сфери науки i техніки України; збільшення обсягу україномовної науково-технічної літератури; вироблення теоретичних засад формування i функціювання української термінології i науково-технічного мовлення; укладання лексикографічних джерел науково-технічного характеру; переклад українською мовою популярних закордонних наукових i технічних видань; стандартизація української наукової i технічної термінології). (The paper is dedicated to the analysis of the actual state of the Ukrainian scientific and technical discourse. It was found out that its formation was influenced by a number of negative factors among which different types of banning of the Ukrainian language usage in tzarist Russia and in the Soviet period. Although much has been done to improve the state of academic discourse within the years of Ukrainian Independence, its general state is not considered to be satisfactory. In this regard, a number of measures of socio-political and linguistic character, aimed at improving Ukrainian scientific and technical language are proposed.

Solzhenitsyn's "Naked Person" against the Background of "New Prison Camp Prose": Pro et Contra

The article analyzes the epic story by A. Solzhenitsyn "One day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich" (1959), its typological ties with the "new prison camp prose" presented in the novels by G. Yakhina ("Zuleykha opens her eyes", 2015), Z. Prilepin ("The Abode", 2014), and E. Vodolazkin ("The Aviator", 2016). The classical non-fiction "prison camp prose" depicts the camp world through the prism of personal experience of the author: from F. Dostoyevsky to A. Solzhenitsyn and V. Shalamov. The "new prison camp prose" stories are deprived of such perspective - they have the character of existential enlightenment. The study shows that one of the structure-forming motifs in the above mentioned texts is the motif of "the naked person" which remains to be urgent just because it brings the reader closer to understanding the ontology of the person who is deprived even of a cross worn on his neck and who is robbed of protection of all man-made gods. The paper presents the history of the embodiment of the image of the "naked man" in the domestic literature: from the literature of the 17th century to avant-garde and postmodernism; it is shown how the relations between the world of reality and the "pitch-black world" (the world of hell, camp), in which bareness and poverty are its charisma, were formed.Статья посвящена анализу рассказа А.
