An Evaluation of Effectiveness of Fuzzy Logic Model in Predicting the Business Bankruptcy
In front of the current global financial crisis, the future existence of the firms is uncertain. The characteristics and the dynamics of the current world and the interdependences between the financial and economic markets around it demand a continuous research for new methods of bankruptcy prediction. The purpose of this article is to present a fuzzy logic-based system that predicts bankruptcy for one, two and three years before the possible failure of companies. The proposed fuzzy model uses as inputs financial ratios, that is dynamics of the financial ratios. In order to design and to implement the model, authors have used financial statements of 132 stock equity companies (25 bankrupt and 107 nonbankrupt). The paper presents also the testing and validation of the created fuzzy logic models.bankruptcy, crisis, prediction, fuzzy logic, ratings
Tourism locating procedures through the examples of Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok county subregions
The secondary research on rural sub-regional tourism is investigating the determining factors and the relationships between them. The analysis concentrates on the tourism potential of rural sub-regions and the performance of tourism. We used the method of discriminant analysis for classifying observations into two or more groups based on the specified predictors. Output includes the classification matrix, the squared distance between group centers, the linear discriminant function, means standard deviations, covariance matrices, and a summary of how each observation was classified. After that, we have classified rural sub-regions according to their strategies of tourism development. The strategy of development for sub-regions belonging to the same group should be the same. This classification can be a useful basis for the conceptions of rural development and development of tourism.tourism, rural development, locating procedure, development position, Agricultural and Food Policy,
Mesterséges intelligenciával felruházott tudásmenedzsment rendszerek hatása a szervezetek működésére
Publikációm célja a mesterséges intelligenciára épülő új technológiák és a szervezeti tudástranszfer viszonyának megfigyelése és elemzése. Kutatásomban először arra a kérdésre kerestem a választ, hogy milyen mértékben valósul meg a hatékony tudástranszfer az interjúalanyok vállalatainál, hiszen a hatékony tudásmenedzsment jelentősen képes növelni a vállalatok versenyképességét és
profitját, valamint optimalizálni a költségeket. Továbbá arról is szerettem volna képet kapni, hogy a mesterséges intelligenciára épülő technológia jelenléte milyen mértékben befolyásolja a szervezeten belüli tudásáramlást, és mi-
lyen mértékben növelni a vállalatok versenyképességét. A mesterséges intelligencia nemcsak a vállalatokat, szervezeteket fogja megváltoztatni, hanem nagymértékben átalakítja a társadalmunkat is
Recovery of Evoked Potentials, Metabolic Activity and Behavior in a Mouse Model of Somatosensory Cortex Lesion: Role of the Neural Cell Adhesion Molecule (NCAM)
Understanding the processes that underlie functional recovery after cortical injury is a major challenge for neurobiology and clinical neurology. The aim of the present study was to establish a mouse model of functional recovery that would facilitate the investigation of the molecular and cellular events involved in cortical dynamics. We show that a focal injury of ∼0.5 mm of diameter and 1 mm depth made in the barrel cortex of adult mice induced a transitory deficit that could be characterized using somatosensory evoked potential (SEP), metabolic mapping and a behavioral test. SEP recordings of short latency responses using an epicranial multi-array system showed a decreased cortical activity in the peri-lesion regions 2 weeks after the injury and a partial recovery to normal pattern 6 weeks after the lesion. Delayed SEP signals over the motor cortex were not altered by the injury. Metabolic mapping with [14C]deoxyglucose uptake in the surround of the injury reproduced the time course of deficit and recovery. Finally, a deficit in vibrissae related performance in a gap-crossing test 1 week after injury was followed by a functional recovery in the following 2 weeks. We show in addition that the recovery process is deficient and significantly delayed in NCAM knockout mice lacking all isoforms of NCAM (neural cell adhesion molecule)and PSA-NCAM. These results support the hypothesis that impairment and recovery of functions after focal cortical lesion involves remodeling of intact circuits surrounding the lesion and that the NCAM molecule participate in this process. The model opens new possibilities for investigating the role of candidate molecules in functional recovery using genetically modified mic
Civil Society Monitoring Report on the Implementation of the National Roma Integration Strategy and Decade Action Plan in 2012 in: Hungary
In autumn 2012, the Decade of Roma Inclusion Secretariat Foundation commissioned the Hungarian Civil Consortium to review the first year of the implementation of the National Social Inclusion Strategy of Hungary (hereinafter referred to as NRIS1or the Strategy), with a special focus on the actions and policies targeting Roma inclusion. All the findings are based on interviews, document reviews and citizen consultations that served as a forum for Roma and pro-Roma NGOs, municipalities and representatives of Roma self-governments.The Hungarian Strategy targets several vulnerable groups, for example children, people living in less developed regions and also Roma. Thus, it follows the "explicit but not exclusive targeting" principle, congruent with the 10 Common Basic Principles of Roma Inclusion. Nevertheless, the lack of a very clear Roma focus may pose challenges to a successful and robust policy-making, while various interventions in sectoral policies (for example, change of legislation, launching of programmes, etc.) and partial interventions launched in parallel may further weaken the efforts made in favour of Roma inclusion and the Strategy's implementation
GReEn: a tool for efficient compression of genome resequencing data
Research in the genomic sciences is confronted with the volume of sequencing and resequencing data increasing at a higher pace than that of data storage and communication resources, shifting a significant part of research budgets from the sequencing component of a project to the computational one. Hence, being able to efficiently store sequencing and resequencing data is a problem of paramount importance. In this article, we describe GReEn (Genome Resequencing Encoding), a tool for compressing genome resequencing data using a reference genome sequence. It overcomes some drawbacks of the recently proposed tool GRS, namely, the possibility of compressing sequences that cannot be handled by GRS, faster running times and compression gains of over 100-fold for some sequences. This tool is freely available for non-commercial use at ftp://ftp.ieeta.pt/∼ap/codecs/GReEn1.tar.gz
Scalability and cost-effectiveness analysis of whole genome-wide association studies on Google Cloud Platform and Amazon Web Services
Objective
Advancements in human genomics have generated a surge of available data, fueling the growth and accessibility of databases for more comprehensive, in-depth genetic studies.
Methods
We provide a straightforward and innovative methodology to optimize cloud configuration in order to conduct genome-wide association studies. We utilized Spark clusters on both Google Cloud Platform and Amazon Web Services, as well as Hail (http://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.2646680) for analysis and exploration of genomic variants dataset.
Results
Comparative evaluation of numerous cloud-based cluster configurations demonstrate a successful and unprecedented compromise between speed and cost for performing genome-wide association studies on 4 distinct whole-genome sequencing datasets. Results are consistent across the 2 cloud providers and could be highly useful for accelerating research in genetics.
Conclusions
We present a timely piece for one of the most frequently asked questions when moving to the cloud: what is the trade-off between speed and cost
