This article is devoted to the concepts of gastronomic discourse, given by foreign and Russian scientists, and the analysis of the features of Russian and Chinese cooking videos. The aim of the article was to identify some features of subtitling gastronomic videos. The material of the study was a cooking video in Chinese, available on YouTube. We applied methods of discourse analysis, semantic analysis, component analysis, and comparison and collation method within the specified language pair. During the study, such difficulties as difference in the number of symbols, the polysemy of words, the translation of proper names and ingredients-realia, and different language transformations such as addition, omission, compression and literal translation were considered. Each difficulty found its solution according to the specifics of cooking topic and subtitling

Protestant women in the late Soviet era: gender, authority, and dissent

At the peak of the anti-religious campaigns under Nikita Khrushchev, communist propaganda depicted women believers as either naïve dupes, tricked by the clergy, or as depraved fanatics; the Protestant “sektantka” (female sectarian) was a particularly prominent folk-devil. In fact, as this article shows, women’s position within Protestant communities was far more complex than either of these mythical figures would have one believe. The authors explore four important, but contested, female roles: women as leaders of worship, particularly in remote congregations where female believers vastly outnumbered their male counterparts; women as unofficial prophetesses, primarily within Pentecostal groups; women as mothers, replenishing congregations through high birth rates and commitment to their children’s religious upbringing; and women as political actors in the defence of religious rights. Using a wide range of sources, which include reports written by state officials, articles in the church journal, letters from church members to their ecclesiastical leaders in Moscow, samizdat texts, and oral history accounts, the authors probe women’s relationship with authority, in terms of both the authority of the (male) ministry within the church, and the authority of the Soviet state

This Academic Internship Report is part of communication design, focusing on the design strategy integrated into the concept of marriage. During the realization of this stage, the focus was on understanding the organizational and project structure during the marriage development process. The contact, with the professional world during the three months of the internship, allowed research applying their acquired knowledge in academic training. Particularly in the areas of Graphic Design, Communication Design and editorial, for communication of the company Decorelle with is target audience (engaged and companies in the wedding industry). The organization of academic internship research was segmented into three phases: exploratory, generative, and evaluative. The methodology was mixed, interventional and non-interventionist, qualitatively based. To contextualize the understanding of the investigation, in the first exploratory part, a literature review was carried out a non-interventionist methodology. The topics presented cross several areas: communication design, emotional design, event design, wedding organization and communication design strategy at the wedding. Understanding them was essential for building a holistic view of a wedding design project. For applied research, in the second generative part, na interventional methodology was used. It began with the analysis of the case studies, in which the company Decorelle participated directly with other partnerships for the strategic development of the general concept of marriage. After this, projects developed during the internship were carried out. Finally, in the evaluative part, the conclusions and results of the applied research were presented, in which a critical view of the work developed emerges.N/

Adsorptive bioremediation of soil highly contaminated with crude oil

12 páginas.- 6 figuras.- 4 tablas.- referencias.Due to the extended oil extraction and transportation in Russia and other oil-producing countries, many lands remain contaminated because of accidental spills. This situation requires the cost-effective and efficient remediation of petroleum-contaminated soils. Bioremediation of soils contaminated with high concentrations of crude oil is usually hampered by high toxicity thresholds for microbial degraders. We have performed a two-year microfield experiment on the influence of a mixed adsorbent (ACD) composed of granular activated carbon and diatomite on bioremediation of a grey forest soil contaminated with crude oil at concentrations (5–15 % w/w) that would theoretically not result in a successful pollutant removal due to toxicity. Remediation of these soils was evaluated after treating with the ACD adsorbent (from 4 to 12% w/w) and a biopreparation (BP) containing hydrocarbon-degrading bacteria, separately or in combination. Reduction of total petroleum hydrocarbons content was significantly greater in highly contaminated soils with the combined amendments than in the respective controls (through the activation of indigenous degrading microorganisms by fertilizing and mixing) by 9-10% and 5-8% at the end of the first and second years, respectively, depending on the contamination level. Significantly higher counts of petroleum-degrading microorganisms (as indigenous and introduced by the BP), as well as much less phytotoxicity was detected in the ACD-amended soils, as compared with the samples without adsorbent. In addition, the ACD mixture drastically reduced the wash-out of polar petroleum metabolites (evidently oxidized hydrocarbons) and the phytotoxicity of the lysimetric waters, especially in highly contaminated soils. The results indicate that the mixture of activated carbon and diatomite is a prospective adsorbent for the in situ bioremediation of soils highly contaminated with crude oil. This work was financed by the Russian Foundation of Basic Research (Project No. 16-05-00617). A Shared Perspective on in Vitro and in Vivo Models to Assay Intestinal Transepithelial Transport of Food Compounds

    No full text
ReviewAssessing nutrient bioavailability is complex, as the process involves multiple digestion steps, several cellular environments, and regulatory-metabolic mechanisms. Several in vitro models of different physiological relevance are used to study nutrient absorption, providing significant challenges in data evaluation. However, such in vitro models are needed for mechanistic studies as well as to screen for biological functionality of the food structures designed. This collaborative work aims to put into perspective the wide-range of models to assay the permeability of food compounds considering the particular nature of the different molecules, and, where possible, in vivo data are provided for comparison.M.A.F. thanks FCT (Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia) for funding through program DL 57/2016 and the project DIETxPOSOME (PTDC/SAU-NUT/6061/2020).
