The Construction Of A Business Model For Intellectually Disabled Workers

    Get PDF
The Japanese welfare system has undergone rapid change. A law has been enacted that requires the handicapped to work in order to be independent from government assistance. However, it is difficult for the intellectually disabled (ID) to earn a living wage because of a lack of understanding with respect to their ability and communication skills. Our organization conducts business with ID individuals such as those with autism. The business model for the income of our organization and the ID individuals concerned was successfully constructed through an understanding and application of the characteristics of ID individuals. This paper shows the current environment affecting the ID and presents our strategic and successful business model that is designed to enable them to achieve a realistic livelihood

Distribution of podoplanin-expressing cells in the mouse nervous systems.

Podoplanin is a mucin-type glycoprotein which was first identified in podocytes. Recently, podoplanin has been successively reported as a marker for brain and peripheral nerve tumors, however, the distribution of podoplanin-expressing cells in normal nerves has not been fully investigated. This study aims to examine the podoplanin-expressing cell distribution in the mouse head and nervous systems. An immunohistochemical study showed that the podoplanin-positive areas in the mouse peripheral nerve and spinal cord are perineurial fibroblasts, satellite cells in the dorsal root ganglion, glia cells in the ventral and dorsal horns, and schwann cells in the ventral and dorsal roots; in the cranial meninges the dura mater, arachnoid, and pia mater; in the eye the optic nerve, retinal pigment epithelium, chorioidea, sclera, iris, lens epithelium, corneal epithelium, and conjunctival epithelium. In the mouse brain choroid plexus and ependyma were podoplanin-positive, and there were podoplanin-expressing brain parenchymal cells in the nuclei and cortex. The podoplanin-expressing cells were astrocyte marker GFAP-positive and there were no differences in the double positive cell distribution of several portions in the brain parenchyma except for the fornix. The results suggest that podoplanin may play a common role in nervous system support cells and eye constituents.福岡歯科大学2013年

The expression of microRNA 574-3p as a predictor of postoperative outcome in patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma

Background: Despite advances in radical esophagectomies and adjuvant therapy, the postoperative prognosis in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) patients remains poor. The aim of this study was to identify a molecular signature to predict postoperative favorable outcomes in patients with ESCC. Methods: As a training data set, total RNA was extracted from formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded samples of surgically removed specimens from 19 ESCC patients who underwent curative esophagectomy. The expression of microRNA (miRNA) was detected using a miRNA oligo chip on which 885 genes were mounted. As a validation data set, we obtained frozen samples of surgically resected tumors from 12 independent ESCC patients and the expression of miR-574-3p was detected by quantitative real-time PCR. Results: Our microarray analysis in the training set patients identified three miRNAs (miR-574-3p, miR-106b, and miR-1303) and five miRNAs (miR-1203, miR-1909, miR-204, miR-371-3p, miR-886-3p) which were differentially expressed between the patients with (n=14) and without (n=5) postoperative tumor relapse (p<0.01 and p<0.05, respectively). Higher expression of miR-574-3p, which showed the most significant association with non-relapse (p=0.001), was associated with favorable overall survival (p=0.016). Real-time PCR experiments on the validation set patients confirmed that higher expression of miR-574-3p was associated with non-tumor relapse (p=0.029) and better overall survival (p=0.004). Conclusions: Our results suggest that the aberrant expression of the miRNAs identified in this study plays key roles in the progression of ESCC. miR-574-3p was suggested to have a tumor suppressor effect, and thus, to be a predictor of postoperative outcome in patients with ESCC

    The Baxter's Q-operator for the W-algebra WNW_N

The q-oscillator representation for the Borel subalgebra of the affine symmetry Uq(slN)U_q(sl_N^) is presented. By means of this q-oscillator representation, we give the free field realizations of the Baxter's Q-operator Qj(t)Q_j(t), Qˉj(t)\bar{Q}_j(t) for the W-algebra WNW_N. We give the functional relations of the TT-QQ operators, including the higher-rank generalization of the Baxter's TT-QQ relation.Comment: LaTE

    XXZ chain with a boundary

The \XXZ spin chain with a boundary magnetic field hh is considered, using the vertex operator approach to diagonalize the Hamiltonian. We find explicit bosonic formulas for the two vacuum vectors with zero particle content. There are three distinct regions when h0h\geq0, in which the structure of the vacuum states is different. Excited states are given by the action of vertex operators on the vacuum states. We derive the boundary SS-matrix and present an integral formula for the correlation functions. The boundary magnetization exhibits boundary hysteresis. We also discuss the rational limit, the \XXX model.Comment: LaTeX 38 pages, 3 figures; epsf, epic, eepic.
