Let G□H denote the cartesian product of graphs G and H. Here we determine the total domination numbers of P_5 □P_n and P_6 □ P_n

Oral tradition of storytelling in Croatia

There is much discussion about the importance of oral tradition in the survival of the traditions and heritage of a region. Guided by this discussion, the aim of this paper is to introduce and bring oral tradition closer to a young generation in order to preserve the tradition of oral literature from oblivion. At the beginning of the paper, oral literature was presented as the oldest form of literary art, its history and mode of transmission. Emphasis is placed on oral literary genera and species. Each literary genre (lyric, epic, stories, dramas, rhetorical forms, simple forms) is presented with a brief description. In addition, the concept of oral literature was analyzed. At the end of the paper are presented the types, ie examples of oral stories from Strizivojna: rhymes for children, stories, counters, puzzles, etc., collected from old speakers

Here we determine the domination numbers of the cardinal product of path graphs P_6 × P_n. For P_7 × P_n and P_8 × P_n we give some bounds

Collection of Carpets and Kilims of the Museum of Arts And Crafts in Zagreb - Vladimir Tkalčić’s Museological Concept

    Get PDF
The article comprises a contribution to the knowledge of Vladimir Tkalčić’s museological work during his directorship at the Museum of Arts and Crafts in Zagreb (1933–1952). Tkalčić’s role in the creation and presentation of the Museum’s “comprehensive” collection of carpets and kilims is determined in the context of museological practices and research in the field of carpet-making at the time. Based on the analysis of the number and type of carpets and kilims acquired during his term, and an examination of the Museum’s archival material, primary and secondary documentation, it is possible to gain an insight into the history of the collection and Vladimir Tkalčić’s collecting and exhibiting policies

Independent sets and independent dominating sets in the strong product of paths and cycles

In this paper we will consider independent sets and independent dominating sets in the strong product of two paths, two cycles and a path and a cycle

On nonexistence of an integer regular polygon

    Get PDF
In this paper we consider the question whether there is a regular polygon in the Cartesian coordinate system such that all of its coordinates are integers. We are not interested in the case of square since it is trivial. We will show that a regular integer polygon does not exist in the orthogonal coordinate plane

This paper first presents some earlier results on k-dominating sets of Cartesian products and cardinal products of two paths, and then new results on k-dominating sets of a strong product and an equivalent product of two paths (a k-domination number of a strong and an equivalent product of Pm × Pn for arbitrary m and n)

Transition to Parenthood and Susceptibility to Divorce: qualitative research of divorced young parents in Slovenia

    Get PDF
Transition to parenthood is a vulnerable period for spouses and can consequently lead to the disintegration of their relationship. The purpose of this research was to examine the experience of this transition, circumstances and risk factors for divorce from the perspective of divorcees in Slovenia who divorced in the first year of their child’s life. On the basis of semi‑structured interviews with 15 divorcees, the findings of studies examining changes after the birth of a child were confirmed. The results pointed to risk factors for marriage, such as uncertain relationship between spouses prior to the childbirth, permeable boundaries in relations with families of origin, lack of practical and emotional support, and unreal expectations. The child’s arrival accentuates unsolved issues from the past and brings additional vulnerability to the relationship. The findings of this research are a contribution to the development of preventive, educative and therapeutic programmes for couples in transition to parenthood

Parental addiction, conflicts and marital disruption: perception of adult children of divorced parents

    Get PDF
Divorce is a stressful event often combined with spouse conflict which significantly affects the way children experience the consequences of family reorganization. Various factors contribute to the impact of divorce on child development, one of the most decisive being the quality of parental relationship prior to, during and after divorce. The article addresses one main question how spouses’ conflict during the process of divorce is intertwined with a child’s experience.   Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 20 adult children (7 men and 13 women)  from divorced families. Adults ranged in age 21 to 42 years old.  Five to twenty years passed from their parents’ divorce. The results show that in the cases of violent parents’ relationships or family relationships with addiction prior to divorce, the participants experienced relief when the nuclear family dissolved; however, in most cases conflict between parents persisted after divorce, the child being torn between both parents. When the conflict between the parents is combined with various addictions, the consequences for the child are even more devastating. In most cases, children were left to themselves. The findings of this study can therefore contribute to creating various forms of educational, consulting, or therapeutic help
