A B S T R A C T The present study aimed to determine the structure of the phytoplankton community including abundance, diversity, uniformity, dominance, habitat similarity in Tanjung Kasuari Coastal Waters. The results showed that the phytoplankton found consisted of 3 classes, namely Bacillariophyceae class (27 genera), Cyanophyceae class (1 genus), and Dinophyceae class (3 genera): zooplankton consisted of 7 groups, namely Crustacea (8 genera), Protozoa (8 genera), Rotifera (1 genus), Urochordata (1 genus), Gastropod larvae (1 genus), Pelecynoda larvae (1 genus), and Polychaeta larvae (1 genus). The highest phytoplankton species composition was from the Bacillariophyceae class which ranged from 81-91% and the zooplankton from the Crustacean group ranged from 31-55% of the total species. The abundance of phytoplankton each observation station ranged from 527 to 6,991 ind/I and the abundance of zooplankton ranged from 8-152 ind/l. Types of phytoplankton often found in all observation station are Coscinodiscus, Navicula, Nitzschia, Rhizosolenia, Thalassiotrix, Peridinium. The zooplankton often found, Calanus, Nauplius, and Oithona. The plankton diversity index value ranged from 1.74-2.84 nits/individual, the uniformity index ranged from 0.53-0.80 and the dominance index ranged from 0.08-0.27

Indonesia should pay greater attention on aquaculture due to a continous decrease in capture fisheries production.  Shrimp is an excellent fishery commodity consumption in the global market, but the availability of supply is not yet fulfilled. The supra intensive aquaculture system has believed as a solution method for shrimp production. This study was trying to analyze the energy and emergy flow inside the supra intensive aquaculture system. Further analysis was done with emergy indices calculation to predict the future application of supra intensive system. The result of study shows the energy required in shrimp harvested from supra intensive system (transformity) was 1,12E+10 sej/g shrimps. This number represents it is needed more energy to produce per gram shrimps in supra intensive system compared to conventional shrimp pond in Ecuador and in Brazil. System more likely depend on purchased input which was indicated by very high EIR and ELR but in contrary relatively low EYR. Supra intensive aquaculture systems tend to be unsustainable in the long term by the very low value of ESI

Destructive fishing has the potential to reduce the sustainability of marine resources and the productivity of marine products which will have an impact on the welfare of fishermen. Various motives for destructive fishing include economic, social, cultural motives, and even ignorance that this action is against the law. Politeknik Kelautan dan Perikanan Sorong carries out community service as an effort to provide understanding regarding environmentally friendly fisheries through lectures and the practice of making environmentally friendly fishing gear. The activity lasted for 2 days, attended by 20 fishermen target partners of Saoka Village. The results of the practice in the form of environmentally friendly fishing gear are handed over to target partners for use in fishing operations

Management and utilization of the fisheries resources in the Indonesia”s outermost tiny island, became a crucial concern, in order to ensure the economic improvement of the local communities and the sustainability of the ecosystem. This study aims to determine the value of the status of fisheries resources in the domain of fishing techniques across the Ayau Archipelago. Evaluation of EAFM implementation status is carried out by the adding up of the scores for each criterion and then dividing by the number of indicators. The index score is obtained from the average value of the flag model in the fishing technique domain. The total index value obtained is then analyzed using a multi-criteria system comparing the total index value of all attributes/indicators with the maximum total index. Arcmap GIS 10.3.1 for mapping was made to obtain the coordinates and area of the island. The results analysis of the composite value EAFM is 68.8%. Our Analysis also indicate that fishing capacity and fishing effort as well as crew certification of fishing boat have low scores with the index values of 315 and 60 respectively. Howover, small scale fisheries management in the Ayau archipelago attracts much special attention from related sectors for further improvement.  the management of small-scale fisheries in the Ayau Islands from a technical and implementation point of view needs to be improved
