is slowly degrading the limitation and common understanding of privacy and trust through digital life, which has open world concept. It has become normal procedure when the user must submit their personal details for digital service such as social networking, electronic commerce, personal hosting, etc. Meanwhile, to be able to revealing their privacy willingly, user put their trust on organization to use their data based on agreement. In this sense, user expect their privacy right to be protected securely and actively. The dilemma occurred due to commercialization, consumerism and legislation as interaction issues, which shift the focus of user to identify the importance of their personal data and organization to analyze the process of data management. On the other hand, Islam gave the basic understanding in privacy and trust that emphasize important factor in human determination and intention. This paper will focus on how to define the standard and limitation of the concept privacy and trust based on Islamic perspective in aligning with the implication of digital age related to interest, classification and purpos

Assessment of internet banking services continued use: role of socio-cognitive and relational view

Recently, continued use of information systems in general and particularly the context of internet banking has drawn increasing attention both in academic and trade literatures. However, different perspectives that determine the continued use of internet banking has been addressed. Given the long-term goal of any business entity is to increase its productivity, expand its customer base and maximize revenues, it is crucial for banks offering internet banking services to focus on encouraging their customers to continually use internet banking. While emerging attention had been given on the assessment of continued use of internet banking services from single view, little of attention were given from researchers to combine different views in a single comprehensive model. Yet, it is believe that combining different views would provide a better understanding to the issues surrounding the continued use. Drawing on the literature, this study developed a model to determine factors that influence the continued use of internet banking by combining factors from the socio-cognitive view and the relational view. Using a survey questionnaire, 450 questionnaires were distributed to users of internet banking in Libya. A number of interesting findings emerged, among others, is the lack of association between trust and perception to continue using the internet banking services in Libya

A model for measuring weil-being of medical practitioners in EHR implementation

When healthcare institutions decide to implement electronic health records (EHR) to improve healthcare administrative processes and reduce medical errors, it may canse major alterations in varions clinical work processes. Thns, the implementation of EHR wonld nsnally lead to the resistance of the healthcare practitioners since they may look at the system as hindrance to their effective clinical work. The practitioners in the hospitals nsnally face difficulties and obstacles in spite of the many benefits promised by EHR such as the inconvenience of having to key in data during patient consultation the need to carry their laptops to inappropriate places. Since there has not been much investigation done on The implementation process of the system and its impact within the healthcare institutions, especially in Malaysia, this study seeks to investigate the influence of EHR in the selected Malaysian healthcare institutions on the wellbeing of healthcare practitioners using a case study approach. While identifying the different models of implementation being used in the selected institutions, the study proceeded to examine whether the implementation process impacts system service quality and their satisfaction using the EHR system influence their personal wellbeing

Electronic Commerce Adoption Barriers in Indonesian Small Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs): An Exploratory Study

This research seeks to explore and detect underlying relationships between identifiable barriers of electronic commerce (ecommerce) adoption in Indonesian small medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). A quantitative pilot study was conducted through a mail survey to collect the relevant data from several cities in three provinces in Indonesia, namely West Java, Bali and DKI Jakarta. The inter-correlations among the barriers influential to the e-commerce adoption decision demanded the application of principal component analysis to determine the factors perceived to dictate e-commerce adoption decision outcomes. The results of the analysis indicate that correlations between the barriers do exist and that the barriers can be grouped according to four distinct factors: the difficulty of implementing e-commerce, the unsuitability of e-commerce to the business, the uncomfortability in communicating and choosing standards in business online, as well as the inapplicability to the current business needs

Election fraud and privacy related issues: addressing electoral integrity

Nowadays, in a highly computerized system, people have tendency to have not expect privacy to be maintained and continue in its current form if individual control is required and monitored. Especially, in contemporary campaigns for higher office, the candidates often use mass media to deliver political message or having certain campaign developed by expert in the efficient use of providing personal information for the purpose of influencing the voters while some of them may be hidden or exploited by certain parties. Practically, it is impossible to have total control over personal information, once it has been collected and dispersed but it is possible to have privacy without control and vice versa. In election, huge amount of data is stored and transfer from multiple location to other numerous or single location to facilitate tabulation and calculation analysis. Thus, it is critical to conduct monitoring process to prevent crime such as theft, fraud and illegal use, to prevent unauthorized disclosure of confidential information, to comply with the obligation, law and regulation in avoiding discrimination, to maintain productivity and quality of service and to ensure integrity of the systems. This paper explores the election fraud and privacy related issues occurred during the election period in various countries to address the electoral integrity in Indonesia

On the use of edge features and exponential decaying number of nodes in the hidden layers for handwritten signature recognition

Handwritten signatures are playing an important role in finance, banking and education and more because it is considered the โ€œseal of approvalโ€ and remains the most preferred means of authentication. In this paper, an offline handwritten signature authentication algorithm is proposed using the edge features and deep feedforward neural network (DFNN). The number of hidden layers in DFNN is configured to be at least one layer and more. In this paper, an exponential decaying number of nodes in the hidden layers was proposed to achieve better recognition rate with reasonable training time. Of the six edge algorithms evaluated, Roberts operator and Canny edge detectors were found to produce better recognition rate. Results showed that the proposed exponential decaying number of nodes in the hidden layers outperform other structure. However, more training data was required so that the proposed DFNN structure could have more efficient learning

Privacy and Personal Data Protection in Electronic Voting: Factors and Measures

    Get PDF
In general, electronic voting as the technology advancement offers the opportunities to reduce the time and budget of implementation which present the greater advantages than traditional approach. It seeks establish the privacy framework in the context of electronic voting that aligns with the mutual comprehension of relevant factors and measures. The result found that privacy concern and perceived benefit have influenced personal data protection significantly. The success and failure of electronic voting implementation depend on the fulfilment of the voter needs on privacy and personal data protection.

The adoption of electronic voting has been done in various countries related to cost and time reduction operationally. On the other hand, recent publication has been informed several issues occurred such as technicality, reliability, security and privacy due to the compromised system were used. In small scale, there are certain group of people who want to exploit the vulnerabilities for their own benefit in the election, while in the greater scale, it can reduce public confidence to entrust the adoption of e-voting system to augment participation rate, to improve the quality of voting and to aid the political right effectively. This paper aims to investigate the characteristic of people demanding the legislative to address the criteria and indicator for effective implementation in electronic voting. By understanding the perception of voters in viewing current electoral regulation are essential to provide some ideas and opinions for better enhancement, either through recommendation and drafting related legislation to cater the needs
