Barriers to participation in polarized online discussions about Covid-19 and the Russo-Ukrainian War

Even though social networking sites create a unique online public space for the exchange of opinions, only a small share of citizens participate in online discussions. Moreover, research has depicted current online discussions as highly uncivil, hostile, and polarized, and the number of heated discussions has escalated in the last two years because of health, social, and security crises. This study investigates the perceived barriers to participation in Facebook discussions, focusing on two topics: the Covid-19 pandemic and the Russo-Ukrainian War. It explores the role that the negativity of these online discussions has on participation. To investigate the perspectives of users and their personal experiences with online discussions in times of crisis, we apply a qualitative research method and interviews with participants. We collected and analyzed 50 semi-structured interviews with Czech Facebook users who participated in discussions during the spring of 2021 (i.e., Covid-19) and the spring of 2022 (i.e., Russo-Ukrainian War). The results show that, after initial mobilization at the beginning of the pandemic, the crisis reinforced several crucial barriers to participation in discussions due to the perceived persistence of polarization (e.g., the spread of disinformation, the bipolar character of discussions, negative perception of opponents), which subsequently spread to other areas and issues. The data also implies that these barriers tend to demobilize less active participants, those who do not have strong opinions, and participants who think the subject matter is not worth the heated exchange of opinions

Bakalářská práce je zaměřena na roli ergoterapeuta a jeho důležitost v interdisciplinárních projektech. Je rozdělena na část teoretickou a část praktickou. V teoretické části jsou shrnuty informace o ergonomii, která je založená na člověku a snaží se zlepšovat lidské zdraví i výkonnost. Praktická část obsahuje tři konkrétní interdisciplinární projekty, kterých se autor zúčastnil. V rámci praktické části bakalářské práci byly zvoleny tři hypotézy, z nichž byly všechny potvrzeny. Z výsledků vyplynulo, že ergoterapeut byl přínosem pro interdisciplinární projekt.ObhájenoThe bachelor thesis is focused on the role and importance of the occupational therapist in interdisciplinary student projects. It is divided into a theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part summarizes information about ergonomics, which is based on humans and tries to improve human health and performance. The practical part contains three specific interdisciplinary projects, which the author has attended. Three hypotheses were chosen in the practical part and all of them were confirmed. The results showed that the occupational therapist was beneficial for the interdisciplinary project

The preparedness of selected company and his employees in Tabor District for the release of chemical substance from the operation

The bachelor thesis describes the issue of preparedness of selected company and its employees for leakage of chemicals from operation. The theoretical part deals with the characteristics of the selected enterprise, the actual chemical accident that occurred in the selected enterprise, legislation related to the topic of work, the behavior of residents in the event of a dangerous chemical leakage, staff training and terms such as chemical accident, emergency planning, fire evacuation plan are explained here. The aim of the work was to evaluate the readiness of the selected company and its employees in the Tábor district for leakage of chemicals from operation. Employee preparedness was evaluated by means of a questionnaire survey, the preparedness of the company by comparing the applicable legislation with internal documents. The research question was formulated as: "What is the real preparedness of the company for leakage of chemicals from operation?" During the research it was found out that the selected company had prepared internal documents in accordance with the valid legislation and by means of a questionnaire survey it was found that its employees are well prepared for leakage of chemicals. So the real preparedness of the company is good. The methodology of the work describes how research was conducted among randomly selected respondents. Despite good preparedness, it was found that all respondents would not behave correctly when a dangerous chemical leaked out of operation, and not all employees were trained in regular fire protection intervals. The results of this work will be provided to the selected company for the purpose of assessing preparedness for leakage of chemicals from operation

Life in an azylum house from the point of view of a client

I deal with need of azylum houses for mothers with children in my bachelor work. Conception of azylum house and standards of quality of social servise are defined in the preambule of my thesis. There is also a reference about the position of fathers like single breadwinners of the family. I write there about the reasons leading to homelessis of women, too. I have been engaged in conditions occuring in azylum houses as well as in acts adjusting rights of children in the third part of my thesis. At the end of the thesis I have described women looking for this kind of help. In my research I discovered that clients are altogether satisfied in azylum house and wants to solve their situation by finding their own accomodation

The Impacts of the Covid-19 Pandemic on Municipal Budgets in the Czech Republic

This bachelor thesis focuses on municipal budgets of municipalities in the Czech Republic during the COVID-19 pandemic. This pandemic culminated in 2020 but it has led to consequences that remain significant in the coming years. The bachelor thesis consists of a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part includes topics that inquire into the budgets of municipalities, their expenses, incomes, and the causes of financial fluctuation. Further, it examines the economic development and the government budget policy of the Czech Republic during the COVID-19 pandemic. The practical part deals with the analysis of financial management of municipalities in the Czech Republic and the quantification of the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on their budgets. It also pursues to identify the causes behind that. The municipality Český Krumlov was chosen as an exemplary model of the financial management during the pandemic crisis

Etologické pozorování skotu v různých věkových kategorií

This bachelor thesis deals with ethological observation of cattle of (in) different age. There are three groups of Czech fleckvieh cattle, dairy cows, pregnant heifers and calves. The aim of the study was get to know and compare behavior of each group. The results were given into an etogram and then processed into charts. Each group was monitored for 8 hours. There was observed lying, standing, rumination, feeding, drinking, defecation and urination, comfortable behavior, social behavior, sexual behavior and moving. Dairy cows spent the most of the time by lying, pregnant heifers by standing and calves spent the most of the time by feeding themselves

History of bosu, exercise and influence to musculoskeletal system.

Má bakalářská práce se zabývá tím, jak cvičení na BOSU? Balance trainer ovlivňuje pohybový aparát člověka. V teoretické části jsme čerpali z mnoha odborných pramenů. Podrobně popisujeme historii BOSU, co to vlastně je, zásady cvičení, indikace a kontraindikace. Dále zde také uvádíme vybrané fyzioterapeutické přístupy, které jsme použili ať už ve vyšetření, tak v samotné terapii. Praktická část se skládá z kazuistik a z dotazníku. V první části uvádíme kazuistiky 3 pacientů s odlišnými diagnózami. U všech jsme odebrali anamnézu, provedli vyšetření, stanovili krátkodobý rehabilitační plán a následně provedli terapii. Vše podrobně popisujeme a zaznamenáváme v praktické části bakalářské práce. V části druhé jsme provedli výzkum na podkladě dotazníku. Dotazník se skládá z 10 otázek, na které odpovědělo celkem 30 probandů. Výsledky dotazníku jsou taktéž uvedeny v praktické části bakalářské práce. Výsledky šetření poukázaly na malé využití BOSU ve fyzioterapii. Většina populace si právě tuto balanční pomůcku spojuje spíše s využitím ve fitness centrech. Dalším důvodem je také přílišná neznalost cviků, které na BOSU Balance trainer můžeme provádět. Předem stanovené hypotézy jsou zhodnoceny v kapitole diskuze.ObhájenoMy bachelor's thesis seeks to examine how BOSU balance trainer effects the human motor apparatus. In the first, theoretical chapter, the thesis describes the history of BOSU? in detail, what the BOSU is, what are the principles of this training, indication and contradiction. Specialized resources were used. Further, the thesis lists the physiotherapy exercises which have been applied in medical examination or in the therapy itself. The second, practical chapter, is compounded of the case interpretations and questionnaire. The first part focuses on case interpretations of three patients with diverse diagnoses. The anamneses and examination have been done, the rehabilitation plans have been determines and the appropriate physiotherapy treatment have been fixed. Everything is elaborated and recorded in detail in the practical chapter. In the second part there is a research made on the basis of form. This questionnaire is composed of ten questions for 30 subjects. The results of this questionnaire is shown in the practical chapter as well. The outcomes can show you how little is BOSU? trainer used in a physioteraphy. Most of the population associates the use of this balance training device with fitness centres. Another reason is disproportionate ignorance of exercises that can be performed on BOSU? trainer. Pre-fixed hypothesis are evaluated in the chapter of discussion

Proposal of the Communication Strategy of International Degree Programmes taught at the Faculty of International Relations of the University of Economics, Prague

The bachelor's thesis "Marketing Communication of International Degree Programmes taught at the Faculty of International Relations of the University of Economics, Prague" is focused on the field of communication to international students. Given the fact that there is currently an overall lack of interest in higher education while the range of international degree programmes is expanding, the analysis of the current communication of the university towards to the prospective students could lead to an improvement in the communication channels of the faculty. The work is focused mainly on digital communication, which is currently the most important tool for reaching young people. It also dedicates itself to education fairs attended by the faculty in the last year as well as the ones where FMV programmes were presented by the University of Economics, Prague or the Study in Prague Consortium representatives. The marketing and PR activities of the faculty will also be studied. The aim of the thesis is to propose optimization and streamlining of FMV's future communication channels in order to raise awareness and interest in the offered international degree programmes.Bakalářská práce s názvem „Marketing cizojazyčných programů vyučovaných na Fakultě mezinárodních vztahů VŠE v Praze“ se zaměřuje na oblast komunikace směrem k zahraničním studentům. Vzhledem k tomu, že v současné době dochází k celkovému snížení zájmu o vysokoškolské studium, zatímco se nabídka cizojazyčných programů rozšiřuje, analýza současné komunikace školy směřující k zahraničním uchazečům o studium povede k navržení zlepšení komunikačních kanálů Fakulty mezinárodních vztahů. Práce se zaměřuje zejména na digitální komunikaci, která je v současné době nejvýznamnějším nástrojem, kterým se dají oslovit mladí lidé. Dále se věnuje veletrhům, kterých se v posledním roce fakulta aktivně účastnila, případně na kterých byly programy FMV prezentovány pod hlavičkou VŠE či konsorcia Study in Prague. Rovněž jsou v práci studovány marketingové a PR aktivity fakulty. Cílem práce je na základě výstupu z analýzy navrhnout optimalizaci a zefektivnění budoucích komunikačních prostředků FMV pro zvýšení povědomí a v důsledku i zájmu o nabízené cizojazyčné studijní programy
