Atomic masses of intermediate-mass neutron-deficient nuclei with relative uncertainty down to 35-ppb via multireflection time-of-flight mass spectrograph
High-precision mass measurements of Cu, Zn, Ga,
Ge, As, Br, Rb, and Sr were performed
utilizing a multireflection time-of-flight mass spectrograph combined with the
gas-filled recoil ion separator GARIS-II. In the case of Ga, a mass
uncertainty of 2.1 keV, corresponding to a relative precision of , was obtained and the mass value is in excellent agreement
with the 2016 Atomic Mass Evaluation. For Ge and Br, where masses
were previously deduced through indirect measurements, discrepancies with
literature values were found. The feasibility of using this device for mass
measurements of nuclides more neutron-deficient side, which have significant
impact on the -process pathway, is discussed.Comment: 15 pages, 6 figures, 1 tabl
Effect of a twin-emitter design strategy on a previously reported thermally activated delayed fluorescence organic light-emitting diode
In this work we showcase the emitter DICzTRZ in which we employed a twin-emitter design of our previously reported material, ICzTRZ. This new system presented a red-shifted emission at 488 nm compared to that of ICzTRZ at 475 nm and showed a comparable photoluminescence quantum yield of 57.1% in a 20 wt % CzSi film versus 63.3% for ICzTRZ. The emitter was then incorporated within a solution-processed organic light-emitting diode that showed a maximum external quantum efficiency of 8.4%, with Commission Internationale de l’Éclairage coordinate of (0.22, 0.47), at 1 mA cm$^{-2}
Virus-free induction of pluripotency and subsequent excision of reprogramming factors
Reprogramming of somatic cells to pluripotency, thereby creating induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells, promises to transform regenerative medicine. Most instances of direct reprogramming have been achieved by forced expression of defined factors using multiple viral vectors1-7. However, such iPS cells contain a large number of viral vector integrations1,8, any one of which could cause unpredictable genetic dysfunction. While c-Myc is dispensable for reprogramming9,10, complete elimination of the other exogenous factors is also desired since ectopic expression of either Oct4 or Klf4 can induce dysplasia11,12. Two transient transfection reprogramming methods have been published to address this issue13,14. However, the efficiency of either approach is extremely low, and neither has thus far been applied successfully to human cells. Here we show that non-viral transfection of a single multiprotein expression vector, which comprises the coding sequences of c-Myc, Klf4, Oct4 and Sox2 linked with 2A peptides, can reprogram both mouse and human fibroblasts. Moreover, the transgene can be removed once reprogramming has been achieved. iPS cells produced with this non-viral vector show robust expression of pluripotency markers, indicating a reprogrammed state confirmed functionally by in vitro differentiation assays and formation of adult chimeric mice. When the single vector reprogramming system was combined with a piggyBac transposon15,16 we succeeded in establishing reprogrammed human cell lines from embryonic fibroblasts with robust expression of pluripotency markers. This system minimizes genome modification in iPS cells and enables complete elimination of exogenous reprogramming factors, efficiently providing iPS cells that are applicable to regenerative medicine, drug screening and the establishment of disease models
Beta-Delayed fission of 230Am
The exotic decay process of β-delayed fission (βDF) has been studied in the neutron-deficient isotope Am230. The Am230 nuclei were produced in the complete fusion reaction Pb207(Al27,4n)Am230 and separated by using the GARIS gas-filled recoil ion separator. A lower limit for the βDF probability PβDF(Am230)>0.30 was deduced, which so far is the highest value among all known βDF nuclei. The systematics of βDF in the region of Am230 will be discussed

Search for Lepton-Flavor-Violating tau Decays into a Lepton and an f0(980) Meson
We search for lepton-flavor-violating tau decays into a lepton (electron or
muon) and an f0(980) meson using 671 fb-1 of data collected with the Belle
detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e- collider. No events are observed
and we set the following 90% C.L. upper limits on the branching fraction
products: B(tau- -> e-f0(980))*B(f0(980)->pi+pi-)
mu-f0(980))*B(f0(980) -> pi+pi-)<3.4x10^-8. This is the first search performed
for these modes.Comment: 10 pages, 4 figures, submitted to Phys. Lett.
Search for lepton-flavor-violating decays at Belle
We have searched for neutrinoless lepton decays into and ,
where stands for an electron or muon, and for a vector meson
(, , , or ), using 543 fb
of data collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy
collider. No excess of signal events over the expected background has
been observed, and we set upper limits on the branching fractions in the range
at the 90% confidence level. These upper limits
include the first results for the mode as well as new limits that
are significantly more restrictive than our previous results for the , , and modes.Comment: 7 pages, 16 figure
Precise measurement of hadronic tau-decays with an eta meson
We have studied hadronic tau decay modes involving an eta meson using 490
fb^{-1} of data collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy
e+e- collider. The following branching fractions have been measured: B(tau- ->
K- eta nu)=(1.58 +- 0.05 +- 0.09)x 10^{-4}, B(tau- -> K- pi0 eta nu)=(4.6 +-
1.1 +- 0.4)x 10^{-5}, B(tau- -> pi- pi0 eta nu)=(1.35 +- 0.03 +- 0.07)x
10^{-3}, B(tau- -> pi- KS eta nu)=(4.4 +- 0.7 +- 0.2)x 10^{-5}, and B(tau- ->
K^{*-} eta nu)=(1.34 +- 0.12 +- 0.09)x 10^{-4}. These results are substantially
more precise than previous measurements. The new measurements are compared with
theoretical calculations based on the CVC hypothesis or the chiral perturbation
theory. We also set upper limits on branching fractions for tau decays into K-
KS eta nu, pi- KS pi0 eta nu, K- eta eta nu, pi- eta eta nu and non-resonant K-
pi^0 eta nu final states.Comment: 24 pages, 7 figure
Measurement of e^+e^- to pi^+pi^-J/psi Cross Section via Initial State Radiation at Belle
The cross section for e^+e^- to pi^+pi^-J/psi between 3.8 and 5.5 GeV/c^2 is
measured using a 548 fb^{-1} data sample collected on or near the Upsilon(4S)
resonance with the Belle detector at KEKB. A peak near 4.25 GeV/c^2,
corresponding to the so called Y(4260), is observed. In addition, there is
another cluster of events at around 4.05 GeV/c^2. A fit using two interfering
Breit-Wigner shapes describes the data better than one that uses only the
Y(4260), especially for the lower mass side of the 4.25 GeV enhancement.Comment: 11 pages, 5 figures, 2 tables; version to appear in PR
