The Effect of Strain Virulence on Agrobacterium Rhizogenes Transformation Efficiency in Eurycoma Longifolia
Eurycoma longifolia, known locally as âTongkat Ali' in Malaysia, is popularly sought out as herbal remedy in many parts of South East Asia. Consequently, this has resulted in the indiscriminate collection of the taproot from the wild, leading to fears of extinction among conservationists. Agrobacterium rhizogenes is a naturally occurring soil bacterium that infects injured plants and causes a massive proliferation of roots, known as hairy roots. The objective of this study is to determine the transformation efficiency of 2 different strains of Agrobacterium rhizogenes on somatic embryos of Eurycoma longifolia using transient GUS expression as an indicator of successful transformation. Somatic embryos cultured in vitro for 4 to 5 weeks were used as explants and were pre-cultured for 2 days in full strength MS medium containing 0.5 mg/L IBA added with 1% PVP and 2mg/L DTT. The explants were transformed using Agrobacterium rhizogenes strains AR12 and AR14. GUS assay was carried out 1 week after transformation and observed. Observations indicate that AR12 is more effective in transforming somatic embryos of Eurycoma longifolia compared to AR14. Therefore, Agrobacterium rhizogenes strain AR12 is a potential candidate for the successful transformation of Eurycoma longifolia somatic embryos, leading to the induction of sustainable hairy root culture
Numerical simulation of the massive scalar field evolution in the Reissner-Nordstr\"{o}m black hole background
We studied the massive scalar wave propagation in the background of
Reissner-Nordstr\"{o}m black hole by using numerical simulations. We learned
that the value plays an important role in determining the properties of
the relaxation of the perturbation. For the relaxation process
depends only on the field parameter and does not depend on the spacetime
parameters. For , the dependence of the relaxation on the black hole
parameters appears. The bigger mass of the black hole, the faster the
perturbation decays. The difference of the relaxation process caused by the

Entropic Interactions in Suspensions of Semi-Flexible Rods: Short-Range Effects of Flexibility
We compute the entropic interactions between two colloidal spheres immersed
in a dilute suspension of semi-flexible rods. Our model treats the
semi-flexible rod as a bent rod at fixed angle, set by the rod contour and
persistence lengths. The entropic forces arising from this additional
rotational degree of freedom are captured quantitatively by the model, and
account for observations at short range in a recent experiment. Global fits to
the interaction potential data suggest the persistence length of fd-virus is

Geometry of the extreme Kerr black holes
Geometrical properties of the extreme Kerr black holes in the topological
sectors of nonextreme and extreme configurations are studied. We find that the
Euler characteristic plays an essential role to distinguish these two kinds of
extreme black holes. The relationship between the geometrical properties and

UK export performance research - review and implications
Previous research on export performance has been criticized for being a mosaic of autonomous endeavours and for a lack of theoretical development. Building upon extant models of export performance, and a review and analysis of research on export performance in the UK for the period 1990-2005, an integrated model of export performance is developed and theoretical explanations of export performance are put forward. It is suggested that a multi-theory approach to explaining export performance is viable. Management and policy implications for the UK emerging from the review and synthesis of the literature and the integrated model are discussed
On Central Charges and Hamiltonians for 0-brane dynamics
We consider general properties of central charges of zero branes and
associated duality invariants, in view of their double role, on the bulk and on
the world volume (quantum-mechanical) theory. A detailed study of the BPS
condition for the mass spectrum arising from toroidal compactifications is
given for 1/2, 1/4 and 1/8 BPS states in any dimensions. As a byproduct, we
retreive the U-duality invariant conditions on the charge (zero mode) spectrum
and the orbit classification of BPS states preserving different fractions of
supersymmetry. The BPS condition for 0-branes in theories with 16

Dielectric formalism and damping of collective modes in trapped Bose-Einstein condensed gases
We present the general dielectric formalism for Bose-Einstein condensed
systems in external potential at finite temperatures. On the basis of a model
arising within this framework as a first approximation in an intermediate
temperature region for large condensate we calculate the damping of low-energy

Extreme black hole entropy obtained in an operational approach
The entropy of anti-de Sitter Reissner-Nordstrom black hole is found to be
stored in the material which gathers to form it and equals to regardless
of material states. Extending the study to two kinds of extreme black holes, we
find different entropy results for the first kind of extreme black hole due to
different material states. However for the second kind of extreme black hole
the results of entropy are uniform independently of the material states.
Relations between these results and the stability of two kinds of extreme black
