    Relationship between accumulated temperature and quality of paddy

    In this paper, a model for controlling paddy drying by incorporating accumulated temperature is introduced and defined. Drying experiments using freshly harvested paddy were conducted at different levels of drying air parameters including temperature (T = 27 degrees C, 31 degrees C, 35 degrees C, 39 degrees C, and 43 degrees C), relative humidity (RH = 45%, 50%, 55%, 60%, and 65%), initial moisture content (M-0 = 17%, 19%, 21%, 23%, and 25%) and airspeed (V = 0.4, 0.5, 0.6, 0.7, and 0.8 m s(-1)). When T = 31 degrees C, RH = 60%, M-0 = 19%, and V = 0.5 ms(-1), the crack additional percentage reached a minimum value of 0.508%, with the average precipitation rate at 0.719%center dot h. Further, an accumulated temperature and quality chart was provided in this paper. The x-coordinate of this chart is temperature, and the initial moisture content represents the y-coordinate. It covers the drying conditions of the actual dryer well and has a wide range of applicability for real-world environment. The model developed in this study not only provides a scientific reference for precise drying and intelligent control of paddy but also guide the actual drying operation

Uno degli scopi di questo esercizio è stato quello di raccogliere informazioni riguardanti la reazione visiva degli studenti. Gli studenti hanno inventato nomi correlati a forma, colore ed altre caratteristiche morfologiche delle piante campione. Un modo significativo ed esplicativo per comprendere i risultati raccolti con questo esperimento è quello di raffigurare quello che effettivamente gli studenti hanno fatto in classe. Poiché le immagini sono uno stru¬mento potente per esprimere informazioni, il metodo uti¬lizzato in questo esperimento è presentato qui come doc¬umento fotografico con la speranza che ricercatori e in¬segnanti di altre parti del mondo possano condurre simili esercitazioni in classe con i propri studenti

    Ga1-xMnxN films grown on semi-insulating GaAs(001) substrates at 680°C with fixed Mn flux and varied Ga flux demonstrated a transition from zinc-blende/wurtzite mixed phase growth for low Ga flux (N-rich conditions) to zinc-blende single phase growth with surface Ga droplets for high Ga flux (Ga-rich conditions). N-rich conditions were found favourable for Mn incorporation in GaN lattice. α-MnAs inclusions were identified extending into the GaAs buffer layer

    Blood-based biomarkers for detecting mild osteoarthritis in the human knee

    SummaryObjectiveThis study was designed to test the utility of a blood-based approach to identify mild osteoarthritis (OA) of the knee.MethodsBlood samples were drawn from 161 subjects, including 85 subjects with arthroscopically diagnosed mild OA of the knee and 76 controls. Following RNA isolation, an in-house custom cDNA microarray was used to screen for differentially expressed genes. A subset of selected genes was then tested using real-time RT-PCR. Logistic regression analysis was used to evaluate linear combinations of the biomarkers and receiver operating characteristic curve analysis was used to assess the discriminatory power of the combinations.ResultsGenes differentially expressed (3543 genes) between mild knee OA and control samples were identified through microarray analysis. Subsequent real-time RT-PCR verification identified six genes significantly down-regulated in mild OA: heat shock 90kDa protein 1, alpha; inhibitor of kappa light polypeptide gene enhancer in B-cells, kinase complex-associated protein; interleukin 13 receptor, alpha 1; laminin, gamma 1; platelet factor 4 (also known as chemokine (C-X-C motif) ligand 4) and tumor necrosis factor, alpha-induced protein 6. Logistic regression analysis identified linear combinations of nine genes – the above six genes, early growth response 1; alpha glucosidase II alpha subunit; and v-maf musculoaponeurotic fibrosarcoma oncogene homolog B (avian) – as discriminatory between subjects with mild OA and controls, with a sensitivity of 86% and specificity of 83% in a training set of 78 samples. The optimal biomarker combinations were then evaluated using a blind test set (67 subjects) which showed 72% sensitivity and 66% specificity.ConclusionsLinear combinations of blood RNA biomarkers offer a substantial improvement over currently available diagnostic tools for mild OA. Blood-derived RNA biomarkers may be of significant clinical value for the diagnosis of early, asymptomatic OA of the knee

    Family Unification on an Orbifold

    We construct a family-unified model on a Z_2xZ_2 orbifold in five dimensions. The model is based on a supersymmetric SU(7) gauge theory. The gauge group is broken by orbifold boundary conditions to a product of grand unified SU(5) and SU(2)xU(1) flavor symmetry. The structure of Yukawa matrices is generated by an interplay between spontaneous breaking of flavor symmetry and geometric factors arising due to field localization in the extra dimension.Comment: 13 page

    Measurement of the p-pbar -> Wgamma + X cross section at sqrt(s) = 1.96 TeV and WWgamma anomalous coupling limits

    The WWgamma triple gauge boson coupling parameters are studied using p-pbar -> l nu gamma + X (l = e,mu) events at sqrt(s) = 1.96 TeV. The data were collected with the DO detector from an integrated luminosity of 162 pb^{-1} delivered by the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. The cross section times branching fraction for p-pbar -> W(gamma) + X -> l nu gamma + X with E_T^{gamma} > 8 GeV and Delta R_{l gamma} > 0.7 is 14.8 +/- 1.6 (stat) +/- 1.0 (syst) +/- 1.0 (lum) pb. The one-dimensional 95% confidence level limits on anomalous couplings are -0.88 < Delta kappa_{gamma} < 0.96 and -0.20 < lambda_{gamma} < 0.20.Comment: Submitted to Phys. Rev. D Rapid Communication

    Measurement of the ttbar Production Cross Section in ppbar Collisions at sqrt{s} = 1.96 TeV using Kinematic Characteristics of Lepton + Jets Events

    We present a measurement of the top quark pair ttbar production cross section in ppbar collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV using 230 pb**{-1} of data collected by the DO detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. We select events with one charged lepton (electron or muon), large missing transverse energy, and at least four jets, and extract the ttbar content of the sample based on the kinematic characteristics of the events. For a top quark mass of 175 GeV, we measure sigma(ttbar) = 6.7 {+1.4-1.3} (stat) {+1.6- 1.1} (syst) +/-0.4 (lumi) pb, in good agreement with the standard model prediction.Comment: submitted to Phys.Rev.Let

    We present a measurement of the top quark pair (ttˉt\bar{t}) production cross section (σttˉ\sigma_{t\bar{t}}) in ppˉp\bar{p} collisions at s=1.96\sqrt{s}=1.96 TeV using 230 pb1^{-1} of data collected by the D0 experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. We select events with one charged lepton (electron or muon), missing transverse energy, and jets in the final state. We employ lifetime-based b-jet identification techniques to further enhance the ttˉt\bar{t} purity of the selected sample.
