Solution Focused Practice in Asia
This book is a collection of solution focused practice across Asia, offering case examples from the fields of therapy, supervision, education, coaching and organisation consulting. It demonstrates the usefulness of the solution focused approach in the Asian context by providing practice based evidence, and highlights the diversity of application. By sharing real case examples in action across Asia, it is the aim of this book to stimulate the curious and inspire the converted. It gives readers a taste of what it is like to use this approach within an Asian context, in different areas of practice and within a broad spectrum of clinical issues. The examples offer exciting and creative ways in which solution focused practice can be used within the Asian context – with the hope that more practitioners will be curious enough to give solution focused practice serious consideration as a viable, evidence-based practice
Improved SOT (Hinode mission) high resolution solar imaging observations
We consider the best today available observations of the Sun free of
turbulent Earth atmospheric effects, taken with the Solar Optical Telescope
(SOT) onboard the Hinode spacecraft. Both the instrumental smearing and the
observed stray light are analyzed in order to improve the resolution. The Point
Spread Function (PSF) corresponding to the blue continuum Broadband Filter
Imager (BFI) near 450 nm is deduced by analyzing i/ the limb of the Sun and ii/
images taken during the transit of the planet Venus in 2012. A combination of
Gaussian and Lorentzian functions is selected to construct a PSF in order to
remove both smearing due to the instrumental diffraction effects (PSF core) and
the large-angle stray light due to the spiders and central obscuration (wings
of the PSF) that are responsible for the parasitic stray light. A
Max-likelihood deconvolution procedure based on an optimum number of iterations
is discussed. It is applied to several solar field images, including the
granulation near the limb. The normal non-magnetic granulation is compared to
the abnormal granulation which we call magnetic. A new feature appearing for
the first time at the extreme- limb of the disk (the last 100 km) is discussed
in the context of the definition of the solar edge and of the solar diameter. A
single sunspot is considered in order to illustrate how effectively the
restoration works on the sunspot core. A set of 125 consecutive deconvolved
images is assembled in a 45 min long movie illustrating the complexity of the

Hypothalamic loss of Snord116 recapitulates the hyperphagia of Prader-Willi syndrome.
Profound hyperphagia is a major disabling feature of Prader-Willi syndrome (PWS). Characterization of the mechanisms that underlie PWS-associated hyperphagia has been slowed by the paucity of animal models with increased food intake or obesity. Mice with a microdeletion encompassing the Snord116 cluster of noncoding RNAs encoded within the Prader-Willi minimal deletion critical region have previously been reported to show growth retardation and hyperphagia. Here, consistent with previous reports, we observed growth retardation in Snord116+/-P mice with a congenital paternal Snord116 deletion. However, these mice neither displayed increased food intake nor had reduced hypothalamic expression of the proprotein convertase 1 gene PCSK1 or its upstream regulator NHLH2, which have recently been suggested to be key mediators of PWS pathogenesis. Specifically, we disrupted Snord116 expression in the mediobasal hypothalamus in Snord116fl mice via bilateral stereotaxic injections of a Cre-expressing adeno-associated virus (AAV). While the Cre-injected mice had no change in measured energy expenditure, they became hyperphagic between 9 and 10 weeks after injection, with a subset of animals developing marked obesity. In conclusion, we show that selective disruption of Snord116 expression in the mediobasal hypothalamus models the hyperphagia of PWS
