    Development and Application of ATMega 2560 Based Trainer in Supporting the Learning Process in the Faculty of Engineering State University of Makassar

    Abstrak: Abstract. This study aimed to determine the student’s response and the application effectiveness of ATMega 2560-based microcontroller trainers in supporting the agricultural robotics learning in the Faculty of Engineering, State University of Makassar. This study was a research and development study using ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate) approach. The student’s response to the application of ATMega 2560-based microcontroller trainers was collected using questionnaires. The samples size of students in this study were 30 students from the Faculty of Engineering, Makassar State University. Information on the application effectiveness of ATMega 2560-based microcontroller trainers was collected from the observations results of learning outcomes, which were conducted through pre-test and post-test. The analysis results on the student’s response showed an average result of 3.65, which means that they were in a good category. The average results of the pre-test and post-test obtained for the analysis of effectiveness were 60.55 and 83.50, respectively. This showed an increase in student learning outcomes which were above the minimum standard and were in a good category. The application of ATMega 2560-based microcontroller trainers received a good response from students and was effective in supporting the agricultural robotics learning in Faculty of Engineering, State University of Makassar

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh kelelahan kerja dan kecerdasan emosionalterhadap kinerja pustakawan serta faktor apa yang dominan berpengaruh pada kinerja pustakawan.Penelitian ini merupakan penelitiam penjelasan (explanatory research) yang akan membuktikanhubungan kausal antara variabel kelelahan kerja dan kecerdasan emosional terhadap variabel kinerjapustakawan. Penelitian ini dilakukan di UPT Perpustakaan Universitas Hasanuddin yang berada diJalan Perintis Kemerdekaan km.10 sedangkan waktu penelitian dilakukan kurang lebih selama 2(dua) bulan mulai 2 Januari s/d 16 Maret 2015. Populasi dalam penelitian ini seluruhnya berjumlah32 orang dan kesemuanya merupakan pustakawan di UPT Perpustakaan Universitas Hasanuddin.Hasil penelitian diketahui terdapat hubungan pengaruh yang signifikan variabel kelelahan kerja dankecerdasan emosional dengan variabel kinerja pustakawan. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwasemakin rendah kelelahan kerja dan semakin baik kecerdasan emosional pustakawan akanberimplikasi pada meningkatnya kinerja pustakawan, sebaliknya semakin tinggi kelelahan kerja dansemakin buruk kecerdasan emosional pustakawan, akan berakibat pada menurunnya kinerjapustakawan UPT Perpustakaan Unhas. Dari dua variabel yang berpengaruh terhadap kinerjapustakawan, maka yang paling dominan mempengaruhi kinerja pustakawan adalah variabelkecerdasan emosional

    : Generally in school, the concept delivery in learning process still relies on verbal language, as the result, student's thinking skills and learning outcome become low. Therefore, audiovisual-based learning is needed to improve student's metacognitive and learning outcome aspects, for example by using Macromedia Flash. This research is aimed to differentiate student's metacognitive skills and concept mastery at grade VIII in SMPN 6 Mataram between students who are taught by Macromedia Flash and students who are taught without using Macromedia Flash. This research is included into pre-experimental and the design was the static-group comparison design. The results of this research showed that: 1) students who were taught by Macromedia Flash had average values for metacognitive skils higher than students who were taught without Macromedia Flash, that were 85.84 and 66.80 respectively. From t-test obtained that there was difference of metacognitive skills between both sample groups; 2) the average values of student's concept mastery in control group was higher than students in experimental group, that were 85.44 and 84.79 respectively. T-test analysis indicated that there was no difference of concept mastery between students who were taught by Macromedia Flash and students who were taught without Macromedia Flash

    Factors associated with body weight status among students in infrastructure University Kuala Lumpur (IUKL), Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

    The occurrence of obesity and overweight status in the population has caught public attention. This is in line with the World Health Organization's concern (2013). The present study aimed to determine factors associated with body weight status among students in Infrastructure University Kuala Lumpur (IUKL), Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. A cross-sectional study was conducted to asses physical activity level, environmental factors affecting physical activity level and their association with body weight status among 280 students in Infrastructure University Kuala Lumpur (IUKL), Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The mean of respondent’s total physical activity per week was 3988.50 ± 6758.45 METs minute/week. This was significantly higher (t = 3.020, p = 0.003) among male respondents (5496.37 ± 7860.26 METs minute/week) compared to females (3032.93 ± 5779.55 METs minutes/week). The overall environmental supports for physical activity among the respondents were at moderate level (2.17 ± 0.72), although the total environmental supports for physical activity among female is slightly higher compared to male (2.17 ± 0.77 vs 2.15 ± 0.63), no significant different was observed (t = - 0.25; p = 0.805). In general over weight / obese status was highly prevalent among those with low involvement with neighbourhood environment for physical activity (28%) (the lowest quartile). Although adjusted crude analysis of support to neighbourhood environment for physical activity showed reverse associations with overweight / obese status, no significant trend was observed

    Kajian Eksperimen Viscous Form Factor pada Hambatan Kapal Katamaran

    Kapal katamaran saat ini banyak menarik perhatian karena memiliki tingkat efisiensi dan performansi hidrodinamika yang lebih baik dibandingkan dengan kapal konvensional (bentuk monohull). Salah satu tantangan yang dihadapi oleh para pakar perkapalan adalah memprediksi secara akurat karakteristik hidrodinamika hambatannya. Makalah ini mengkaji secara eksperimental di kolam tarik (towing tank) untuk mendapatkan nilai viscous form factor pada lambung kapal katamaran pada beberapa variasi kecepatan. Viscous form factor merupakan komponen hambatan yamg penting dalam menghitung hambatan viskos kapal. Model uji adalah katamaran simetris dengan beberapa bervariasi jarak antara lambung. Hasil pengujian di towing tank dibandingkan dengan hasil uji di terowongan angin (wind tunnel). Hasil uji model disajikan dalam bentuk tabel dan grafik dan didiskusikan dengan beberapa hasil kajian para pakar lainnya. Pada penelitian eksperimental ini, hasil yang diperoleh menunjukkan bahwa viscous form factor pada lambung katamaran adalah lebih besar dibandingkan demihull. Fenomena ini menunjukkan adanya efek interaksi hambatan yang ditimbulkan oleh jarak antara lambung. Disamping itu, semakin besar jarak antara lambung maka semakin kecil nilai viscous form factor-nya. Fenomena ini dapat dijadikan masukan bagi para designer dalam memprediksi total hambatan kapal dan selanjutnya menentukan besar daya mesin kapal katamaran secara akurat dan rasiona

    Construction Risk Taxonomy: An International Convergence of Academic and Industry Perspectives

    Risk management is a topic heavily researched and important for industry professionals. Both academic and industry perspectives are critical to advancing this field, especially in risk identification and taxonomy. A unique comparison and convergence of these perspectives is developed in order to understand the most relevant risks for projects and to ensure they are addressed in the risk management process. This comparison is created via a content analysis of the relevant literature and a survey to industry professionals. The differences and similarities among risks are analyzed, revealing that both perspectives emphasize financial/economic risks. The literature tends to focus on political; acts of God classified risks, whereas the industry places emphasis on regulatory risks. An elaboration of variations is performed aiming to improve the literature-based taxonomy taking into account the industry perspective to ensure its risk management process responds to these risks and provides a clearer focus towards future research

    The performance of modified jatropha-based nanofluid during turning process

    The industry's extensive use of petroleum-based metalworking fluid (MWF) harms the environment and humans. The production of bio-based MWF, especially from crude jatropha oil (CJO), has therefore taken numerous initiatives. This aimed to formulate newly modified jatropha oil (MJO) with the addition of 0.05wt.% hBN and 0.05wt.% MoS2 as the nanofluid for MWF. The performance of the nanofluids was determined through the turning process in terms of cutting temperature, workpiece surface roughness, tool life and tool wear of the tool lubricated by the nanofluids. The performance of the nanofluid samples was compared with the synthetic ester (SE). From the results, after conducted 100mm axial cutting length MJO+hBN+MoS2 recorded the lowest in cutting temperature and surface roughness compared to all samples. The result shows that MJO+hBN+MoS2 has longer tool life (6500mm) compared to SE (6000mm). Abrasion and adhesion were observed as the dominant tool wear mechanism. In conclusion, MJO+hBN+MoS2 shows better machining performance and has the potential to be an environmentally friendly metalworking fluid
