On the modulation of low frequency Quasi-Periodic Oscillations in black-hole transients
We studied the properties of the low-frequency quasi-periodic oscillations
detected in a sample of six black hole candidates (XTE J1550-564, H 1743-322,
XTE J1859+226, 4U 1630-47,GX 339-4, XTE J1650-500) observed by the Rossi XTE
satellite. We analyzed the relation between the full width half maximum and the
frequency of all the narrow peaks detected in power density spectra where a
type-C QPO is observed. Our goal was to understand the nature of the modulation
of the signal by comparing the properties of different harmonic peaks in the
power density spectrum. We find that for the sources in our sample the width of
the fundamental and of the first harmonic are compatible with a frequency
modulation, while that of the sub-harmonic is independent of frequency,
possibly indicating the presence of an additional modulation in amplitude. We
compare our results with those obtained earlier from GRS 1915+105 and XTE
J1550-564.Comment: 8 pages, 3 figures, accepted for publication in Monthly Notices of

The diagnostic utility of cell block as an adjunct to cytological smears
Objectives: Cytological examination of serous fluids is of paramount importance in detecting cancer cells. Distinguishing malignant cells from benign reactive mesothelial cells in fluid cytology is an everyday diagnostic problem. Cell blocks are valuable when the features in cytology are inconclusive. The motive of this study was to assess the utility of this method in increasing the diagnostic yield of serous fluids. Methods: 225 (25%) effusion fluids were analyzed carefully by both smear and cell block technique. Results: Among 225 fluids, 139 were pleural, 84 peritoneal and 2 pericardial. In case of pleural fluids and ascitic fluids, maximum numbers of cases were inflammatory. By the cell block technique, 5 additional cases of malignancy in pleural fluids and 7 additional cases of malignancy in ascitic fluids were diagnosed which could not be detected in the cytological smears. In pericardial fluids both cases were inflammatory. Male predominance was noted in case of pleural effusion and female predominance was noted in case of pericardial effusion and ascites. Maximum numbers of cases were seen in the age group of 40-60 years. Conclusion: We conclude that the cell block technique when used as an adjuvant to routine smear examination has increased the diagnostic yield because of better preservation of the architectural pattern

Study of seasonal incidence and impact of abiotic factors on sucking pests of brinjal
The present investigation was undertaken to find the impact of abiotic factors on seasonal incidence and sucking pest complex of brinjal under field conditions during kharif 2015-2016. The incidence of leaf hopper population (2.80 Lh/L i.e., Leaf hopper mean population/leaf) was noticed during 34th standard week and reached peak by 40th standard week (5.00 Lh/L) (October) whereas the aphid population was noticed during the 34th standard week (3.00 Lh/L) and peak population observed during the 40th standard week (4.60 Lh/L) (October). Correlation studies showed that among the various abiotic factors, maximum temperature showed highly significant positive correlation (r= 0.77) and sunshine hours (r = 0.61) showed significant positive correlation with the leaf hopper population. In case of aphid population, maximum temperature showed significant positive correlation (r = 0.70), rainfall showed highly significant negative correlation (r = -0.74) and relative humidity evening (r = -0.59) showed significant negative correlation with aphid population. The present investigations will give a brief idea about how the abiotic factors influencing the sucking pests of brinjal
Realistic Tight Binding Model for the Electronic Structure of II-VI Semiconductors
We analyze the electronic structure of group II-VI semiconductors obtained
within LMTO approach in order to arrive at a realistic and minimal tight
binding model, parameterized to provide an accurate description of both valence
and conduction bands. It is shown that a nearest-neighbor model is
fairly sufficient to describe to a large extent the electronic structure of
these systems over a wide energy range, obviating the use of any fictitious
orbital. The obtained hopping parameters obey the universal scaling law
proposed by Harrison, ensuring transferability to other systems. Furthermore,
we show that certain subtle features in the bonding of these compounds require
the inclusion of anion-anion interactions in addition to the nearest-neighbor
cation-anion interactions.Comment: 9 pages, 9 figure
Principles of Morality Through Paripaadal
Many scholars hail Tamil as the language of devotion. There is more moral literature in Tamil than in other languages. The literature in the Tamil language has the power to inculcate morality in mankind and thereby inculcate morality. The sixth knowledge of the people is the result of morality. This sixth sense is the difference between people and animals. A man lives by defining what things should be done and how to do them. Literature conveys this way of life to the human mind. Those who are virtuous are the highest. For a disciplined person, all the places they go to are special. Literature helps us to prevent the mind, language, and truth from going down the evil way and keep them in righteousness. It is a proverb that moral order governs the town. The country does not fail to appreciate those who have walked according to discipline. Righteousness is better. That's what will win. The absolute form is a set of moral systems that man has defined for himself. It is righteousness to cut off the evil deeds that bring about man's birth. When this is followed, it blossoms into a quality of morality and becomes respected as a way of life
Electronic structure of NiS_{1-x}Se_x
We investigate the electronic structure of the metallic NiSSe
system using various electron spectroscopic techniques. The band structure
results do not describe the details of the spectral features in the
experimental spectrum, even for this paramagnetic metallic phase. However, a
parameterized many-body multi-band model is found to be successful in
describing the Ni~2 core level and valence band, within the same model. The
asymmetric line shape as well as the weak intensity feature in the Ni~2 core
level spectrum has been ascribed to extrinsic loss processes in the system. The
presence of satellite features in the valence band spectrum shows the existence
of the lower Hubbard band, deep inside the metallic regime, consistent
with the predictions of the dynamical mean field theory.Comment: To be published in Physical Review B, 18 pages and 5 figure
Biographical Thoughts of Pattinapalai
Pattinapalai is one of the literatures that testifies to the life lived by the ancient Tamil people. This book is composed by the poet Uruthirakannanar. The specialty of the ancient Chola country, its wealth, the heroic deeds of Charikalan and the way of life of the people are highlighted. The song is set at 301 feet. Pattinapalai is the epitome of the charcoal Chola specialty of Kavirippoompattinam. Sangam literature holds a unique place in the creative context of Tamil literary history. The Sangakkala people can be discriminated against as natural morality because they lived with natural morality and as heroic age because of the emphasis on heroic sentiments. Songs are a mixture of literature and life. Sangakkala songs are also known as people's life songs. Most of them are spontaneous poems that express their innermost feelings. The study is set to explore the emotions of the poets, the lifestyles of the people, and the thoughts of life
