Sensors are data gathering devices. Selecting the minimum number of sensors for network coverage is crucial to reduce the cost of installation and data processing time. Actors in a WSAN are decision-making units. They need to be communicating with their fellow actors in order to respond to events. Therefore, the need to maintain a connected inter-actor network at all times is critical. In the Actor Relocation Problem (Chapter 2) of this thesis we considered the problem of finding optimal strategies to restore connectivity when inter-actor network fails. We used a mixed integer programming formulation to find the optimal relocation strategies for actors in which the total travel distance is minimized. In our formulation we used powers of the adjacency matrix to generate constraints that ensure connectivity. In the Sensor Coverage Problem (Chapter 3) we developed a mixed integer programming model to find the minimum number of sensors and their locations to cover a given area. We also developed a bi-level algorithm that runs two separate optimization algorithms iteratively to find the location of sensors such that every point in a continuous area is covered.Includes bibliographical references (pages 61-63)

    Novel Advent For Add-On Security By Magic Square Intrication

    The efficiency of a cryptographic algorithm is based on its time taken for encryption / decryption and the way it produces diverse cipher text from a clear text. The RSA, the extensively used public key algorithm and other public key algorithms may not guarantee that the cipher text is copiously secured. As an alternative approach to handling ASCII characters in the cryptosystems, a magic square implementation is deliberated of in this work. It attempts to augment the efficiency by providing add-on security to the cryptosystem. This approach will boost the security due to its complexity in encryption because it deals with the magic square. Here, encryption / decryption is based on numerals generated by magic square rather than ASCII values. In this, we add the ASCII value and the numeral in the consequent magic square. Because to encrypt the plaintext characters, their ASCII values are taken and if a character occurs in numerous places in a plaintext there is a possibility of same cipher text is produced. To surmount the problem, this paper attempts to develop a technique in which a constant is added for the recurring character

    EFFECT OF MADHUGHRITA YAPANAVASTHI IN TREATMENT OF LUMBAR SPONDYLOSIS

    Lumbar spondylosis, a degenerative condition of lumbar spine is affecting majority of adults presently. The treatment options available nowadays are diverse and often undependable ensuing rising costs and variability in management throughout the country. It may be considered as Kateegraha owing to the grasping pain or stiffness in the Katee Pradesha. Katee is one of the Vatasthaanas and pain/stiffness is caused by Vata, hence Kateegraha may be considered as Vatavyadhi. Vasthi therapy is the Agryachikitsa for Vata Dosha which can be done here. Madhughrita Yapanavasthi is Vatahara, Brumhana and Trikaprishta Soolahara. It would be especially good in degenerative conditions associated with pain affecting Trika region like Lumbar spondylosis. The study design was of interventional type. Twenty patients, satisfying the selection criteria were selected from the OPD of Govt. Ayurveda College Panchakarma Hospital, Thiruvananthapuram. They were given Deepana Pachana first, and then Snehasweda and finally Madhughrita Yapanavasthi for 8 days while the follow up period were for 16 days. The assessment was done before treatment, after treatment and after follow up. Changes in the following variables- pain, stiffness, tenderness, range of movements and muscle strength were analyzed. For all variables except the muscle strength p value were statistically significant at the level of 0.001. The p value for Muscle strength was significant at the level of 0.05 for after treatment - after follow up comparison. And it was significant at the level of 0.01 for before treatment - after follow up comparison. Madhughrita Yapanavasthi is thus effective in managing Lumbar spondylosis

    AbstractMagnetorheological elastomers (MRE) are class of smart materials, whose stiffness and damping characteristics can be changed by applying external magnetic field. In this work three layered rectangular plate is considered where top and bottom layers are made up of aluminium layers and middle layer is MRE material to study free vibration characteristics of the system. With help of Lagrange principle and finite element method (FEM), the governing equation of motion is derived. Natural frequencies and modal loss factors of MRE cored sandwich plate is obtained for different core and constraining layer thickness by using modal strain energy method (MSE) for different magnetic fields.     A CONCEPTUAL APPRAISAL OF VIRECHANA KARMA

    Panchakarma is getting global attention nowadays and Virechana is one among its procedures which is actively used by the Ayurvedic fraternity. Four different types of Virechana namely Anulomana, Sramsana, Bhedana and Rechana are mentioned in our classics but they are not apprised properly for their clinical utility. The Brihattrayis give ample illustrations of their use without highlighting the underlying rationale. Sarangdhara Samhita defines each of this therapeutics without indicating the disease conditions. This paper tries to understand the specific clinical utility of the four types of Rechana by tracing back their indications in scriptures. Anulomana is a mild form of Virechana where the Paka of Malas occur. Sramsana is a mild form of Virechana which does not cause Paka of Malas. Bhedana does not cause Paka of Malas but it is a strong type of Virechana. Rechana also does not cause Paka of mala but the strength of the procedure can be modulated by the use of different types of drugs. The selection of the type of Rechana depends on the pharmaco-therapeutic action necessary to harmonise the Dosa, Dhatu and Mala without causing any further complication or Upadrava

    NOTATIONAL ANALYSIS OF PLAYING ABILITY ON MEN HANDBALL TEAMS

    The purpose of the study was to assess the playing ability by notational analysis system for men handball players. To achieve the purpose of the study the four teams those who participated in the Madurai Kamaraj University Inter-Collegiate Handball Tournament 2017-18 for men were selected. The teams were SVN College, American College, Arul Anandar College and Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai. The age of the men handball players ranged from 18 to 24 years. The following match analysing factors which are expected to give the complete performance of the team & individual five factors were finalized. A panel of experts consisting of coaches, players and experts as well as fellow researchers aided in the development and ranking of performance scores for the effects of each skill as it is performed during the game. Each attempt was noted according to whether the attempt was off-target, on-target, or resulted in a goal. The pass was evaluated according to the result, such as if the other team intercepted the pass or it resulted in a scoring opportunity. Cards received by the players, penalty shoot were carefully noted. The data was collected during the real time match. The collected data were analysed statistically using mean and standard deviation. The outcome of the study might act as a tool to analyse the team & individual performance in the game of Handball
