    Log prismatic Dieudonn\'e theory for log pp-divisible groups over OK\mathcal{O}_{K}

    Let OK\mathcal{O}_{K} be a complete discrete valuation ring of mixed characteristic with perfect residue field, endowed with its canonical log-structure. We prove that log pp-divisible groups over OK\mathcal{O}_{K} correspond to Dieudonn\'e crystals on the absolute log-prismatic site of OK\mathcal{O}_{K} endowed with the Kummer log-flat topology. The proof uses log-descent to reduce the problem to the classical prismatic correspondence, recently established by Ansch\"utz-Le Bras.Comment: 19 page

    Government policy and competitive advantages of foreign-financed firms in the Guangdong province of southern China

    This paper investigates the impact of various Chinese government policies on the competitive advantages of foreign-financed manufacturing firms in Guangdong province of southern China. The objectives of various government sector-specific policies are to lubricate the factor markets in labour, capital and products and to facilitate the operation of foreign-financed firms. However, the actual effects are often quite different: the ambiguity, complexity and inflexibility of policies impose higher transaction costs on foreign-financed firms. These disadvantages offset some economic benefits gained under the central government's preferential foreign direct investment policy and thus damages the competitive advantages of foreign-financed firms based in Guangdong. Worse still, the lack of co-ordination among various bureaux further hampers arbitration between government bureaux and foreign investors

    Pfair scheduling of generalized pinwheel task systems

    [[abstract]]The scheduling of generalized pinwheel task systems is considered. It is shown that pinwheel scheduling is closely related to the fair scheduling of periodic task systems. This relationship is exploited to obtain new scheduling algorithms for generalized pinwheel task systems. When compared to traditional pinwheel scheduling algorithms, these new algorithms are both more efficient from a run-time complexity point of view, and have a higher density threshold, on a very large subclass of generalized pinwheel task systems.

    Social networking such as YouTube, Facebook and others are very popular nowadays. The best thing about YouTube is user can subscribe also giving opinion on the comment section. However, this attract the spammer by spamming the comments on that videos. Thus, this study develop a YouTube detection framework by using Support Vector Machine (SVM) and K-Nearest Neighbor (k-NN). There are five (5) phases involved in this research such as Data Collection, Pre-processing, Feature Selection, Classification and Detection. The experiments is done by using Weka and RapidMiner. The accuracy result of SVM and KNN by using both machine learning tools show good accuracy result. Others solution to avoid spam attack is trying not to click the link on comments to avoid any problem

    Critical Torsional Oscillations of a Rotating Accelerated Shaft

    We assume that the forces applied to the shaft have a variable part which is a moment of constant amplitude M(x) per unit length, distributed along the shaft, and varying with a frequency proportional to the angular velocity. From the solution corresponding to the harmonic steady state vibration, we deduce, by using Heaviside's expansion, the motion due to a sudden application of the moment M(x). This enables us to compute the effect of the moment when applied with a linearly increasing frequency. In this analysis the damping will be neglected. In case of a viscous damping the linear character of the equations is not affected and the same method might be used. We did not carry this calculation for two reasons: 1. The exact result will be in general complicated, and involve viscous friction coefficients which will not be very accurately known. Besides, the effect of friction might be roughly taken into account by considering the steady state solution. 2. In most cases the damping is not viscous but due to the hysteresis or internal friction of the material. This is proved by the experimental fact that the energy absorbed in the vibration of elastic bodies is proportional to the frequency and not to its square. This effect might be taken roughly into account by energetic considerations

    Analyzing and clustering neural data

    This thesis aims to analyze neural data in an overall effort by the Charles Stark Draper Laboratory to determine an underlying pattern in brain activity in healthy individuals versus patients with a brain degenerative disorder. The neural data comes from ECoG (electrocorticography) applied to either humans or primates. Each ECoG array has electrodes that measure voltage variations which neuroscientists claim correlates to neurons transmitting signals to one another. ECoG differs from the less invasive technique of EEG (electroencephalography) in that EEG electrodes are placed above a patients scalp while ECoG involves drilling small holes in the skull to allow electrodes to be closer to the brain. Because of this ECoG boasts an exceptionally high signal-to-noise ratio and less susceptibility to artifacts than EEG [6]. While wearing the ECoG caps, the patients are asked to perform a range of different tasks. The tasks performed by patients are partitioned into different levels of mental stress i.e. how much concentration is presumably required. The specific dataset used in this thesis is derived from cognitive behavior experiments performed on primates at MGH (Massachusetts General Hospital). The content of this thesis can be thought of as a pipelined process. First the data is collected from the ECoG electrodes, then the data is pre-processed via signal processing techniques and finally the data is clustered via unsupervised learning techniques. For both the pre-processing and the clustering steps, different techniques are applied and then compared against one another. The focus of this thesis is to evaluate clustering techniques when applied to neural data. For the pre-processing step, two types of bandpass filters, a Butterworth Filter and a Chebyshev Filter were applied. For the clustering step three techniques were applied to the data, K-means Clustering, Spectral Clustering and Self-Tuning Spectral Clustering. We conclude that for pre-processing the results from both filters are very similar and thus either filter is sufficient. For clustering we conclude that K- means has the lowest amount of overlap between clusters. K-means is also the most time-efficient of the three techniques and is thus the ideal choice for this application.2016-10-27T00:00:00
