Genetic and environmental factors involved in schizophrenia development

Due to its complexity, schizophrenia is an intriguing disorder being described as a heterogeneous and multifactorial disease. It is characterized by the presence of a psychotic behavior, unrealistic and disorganized thinking, and a marked social dysfunction. This disorder affects 1% of world population presenting a high impact at family level and huge expenditure on public health. In this paper we intend to perform a bibliographic search concerning the genetic and environmental risk factors involved in schizophrenia development. A bibliographic search was performed using the words: schizophrenia, genetic factors, non-genetic factors, multifactorial heritage. Criteria used in papers selection included the interest of the subject, limiting the search to scientific papers written in English or Portuguese, with publication date in a 10 years period or of previous years when the content and experimental evidences were relevant for the theme. As results of this search, it was seen that the genetic influence in this pathology is well stablished, however, the exact nature of the type of transmission is not clear yet. Several environmental factors involved in schizophrenia development have already been identified. Available data allow to conclude that, in most cases, the genetic component consists of multiple genes acting additively, being the genotype expressed only when the number of genes and non-genetic factors present is above a threshold number.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

The impact of postponing motherhood on women's income in Brazil

Este artigo investiga o impacto do adiamento da maternidade nos rendimentos das mulheres e na diferença de rendimento entre homens e mulheres no mercado de trabalho brasileiro, com base em dados da Pesquisa Nacional de Saúde de 2013. Usando a abordagem Heckman (1979), os resultados sugeremque o adiamento da maternidade tem um impacto anual positivo de 1,55% sobre os rendimentos. Ao comparar homens e mulheres, os resultados sugerem que ser mulher gera uma penalidade de cerca de 22% nos rendimentos, mas o adiamento da maternidade pode eliminar essa diferença de gênero, principalmente para as mulheres brancas, amarelas e com ensino superior.This paper investigates the impact of the postponement of motherhood on women’s earnings and gender gap in Brazilian labor market, based on data from Brazilian National Health Survey of 2013. Using the Heckman (1979) approach, the results suggest that postponing motherhood has a positive impact of 1.55% on earnings each year of postponement. By comparing men and women, the results suggest that being a woman generates a wage penalty of approximately 22%, but the postponing of motherhood can eliminate that gender gap, especially for those who are white, yellow, and higher educated

Cultura do girassol : análise da produção em Mato Grosso, Goiás e Rio Grande do Sul

A cultura possui destaque pela excelente qualidade do óleo extraído, pela facilidade de adaptação em diversos ambientes, possuindo resistência a seca, tolerância a baixas temperaturas e pouca influencia do fotoperíodo. O girassol possui diversos usos, o principal é a produção de óleo para consumo humano, além do consumo da semente in natura, o girassol ainda é utilizado na alimentação animal, na fabricação de biodiesel, utilizado como flor ornamental, usado na produção de produtos terapêuticos e cosméticos. O girassol é cultivado em todos os continentes, atualmente, Rússia, Ucrânia, Argentina e China são os maiores produtores mundiais, obtendo mais de 50% da produção total. O Brasil possui uma posição discreta na produção mundial, mas com grande potencial de crescimento, sendo que Mato Grosso, Goiás e Rio Grande do Sul são os três maiores produtores brasileiros. O objetivo deste relatório foi analisar área plantada, produção e produtividade dos maiores produtores brasileiros, além de analisar as diversas finalidades que a cultura de girassol possui.The sunflower (Helianthus annus L) is an oleaginous, belonging to the family Asteraceae, originating in North and Central America. The culture is highlighted by the excellent quality of the oil extracted, by the easy of adaptation in several environments, having resistance to drought, tolerance to low temperatures and little influence of the photoperiod. Sunflower has several uses, the main one is the production of oil for human consumption, in addition to the consumption of the seed in natura, the sunflower is still used in animal feed, in the manufacture of biodiesel, used as ornamental flower, used in the production of therapeutic products and cosmetics. Sunflower is grown in all continents, currently Russia, Ukraine, Argentina and China are the world's largest producers, obtaining more than 50% of the total production. Brazil has a discrete position in world production, but with great potential for growth, with Mato Grosso, Goiás and Rio Grande do Sul being the three largest Brazilian producers. Resistência à lógica mercadológica : o ato de cozinhar e o resgate de legados históricos

Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso (graduação)—Universidade de Brasília, Instituto de Ciências Humanas, Departamento de Serviço Social, 2017.Este trabalho de conclusão de curso tem como objetivo evidenciar o potencial do ato de cozinhar como instrumento de resistência frente aos monopólios industriais que dominam e se apropriam, de forma imperialista, dos hábitos alimentares. A pesquisa tem um viés de denúncia à apropriação das necessidades básicas dos seres humanos, que apreendem a autonomia da espécie e alteram legados históricos perpassados de geração em geração. Em contrapartida, é um trabalho que apresenta um olhar otimista em busca de possíveis iniciativas de resistência, como, por exemplo, o movimento Slow Food, que valoriza as relações sociais, a natureza e incentiva a proteção aos sabores, alimentos e receitas milenares. Buscam-se alternativas que reconectem os seres humanos com suas atividades essenciais de autorreconhecimento como parte da natureza, possibilitando o diálogo com alternativas de resistência. Por ser uma lacuna do departamento de Serviço Social e um tema delicado, transdisciplinar, diretamente relacionado à garantia da dignidade humana, e a respeito do qual os trabalhos acadêmicos são escassos, é necessário o incentivo aos estudantes para futuras produções. Enfim, busca-se trazer de volta a valorização da comida de verdade, das escolhas e da autonomia, incentivando e reforçando o ato de cozinhar como uma forma de resgate de legados históricos e de reflexão sobre os próprios hábitos alimentares.This final paper aims to enhance the potential of cooking activity as an instrument of resistance, in face of the industrial monopolies, which dominate and appropriate the eating habits, in an imperialistic way. The research, obliquely, denounces the appropriation of basic needs from human beings, whom grasp the autonomy of the species and modify historical legacies transmitted from generation to generation. On the other hand, this is also a work that comes up with an optimistic look which basically seeks for possible initiatives of resistance, such as Slow Food, which values social relations, nature and, plus that, encourages the protection of flavors, foods and millennial recipes Therefore, alternatives have been sought in an attempt to reconnect human beings with their essential activities; leading them to recognize themselves as part of nature and at the same time enabling the dialogue with other alternatives of resistance. Once the theme treated in this paper typifies a gap placed into the Department of Social Work and a delicate, transdisciplinary issue, directly related to the guarantee of human dignity, and in respect of which academic work is scarce, it is necessary to encourage students to yield future productions in this field of knowledge. Finally, the main idea here is to bring back the appreciation of real food, also valuing the choices and the autonomy, by encouraging and reinforcing the act of cooking as a way of redemption and reflection of one’s own eating habits

Arranjos contemporâneos da cultura nas cidades: arte, educação e requalificação urbana em Nova Iguaçu

O presente artigo tem por objetivo contribuir para as discussões e reflexões sobre a centralidade da cidade na definição de políticas públicas, possibilitando novos arranjos entre Estado e sociedade civil. Em um segundo momento, o trabalho apresenta a experiência do Governo Municipal de Nova Iguaçu na implementação da política integrada Bairro-Escola, onde a cultura aparece como eixo transversal de um programa com base na educação e na requalificação urbanística da cidade. Contemporary arrangements of culture in cities: art, education and urban renewal in Nova Iguaçu ABSTRACT: This paper intends to improve the discussion around the central importance of cities for the definition of public policies, considering the possibility to create new arrangements between State and Society. Afterwards, the article presents the experience developed by the Municipal Government of Nova Iguaçu, focused in the implementation of an integrated policy entitled Bairro-Escola, which places the culture as a crossing strategy for a program based on education and urban renewal.
