La "cuestión de los significados" en las prácticas sociales

Los conceptos de habitus y de conciencia práctica, de Bourdieu y Giddens respectivamente, están inscriptos en el cuerpo como modos de saber-hacer no mediados por representaciones.1 Este enfoque de la comprensión práctica enraizada en un nivel no representacional, no sólo limita el rol que las representaciones juegan en la determinación de la acción; sino que sitúa los significados en el centro de las teorías sociales. El presente trabajo intenta mostrar el rendimiento y las limitaciones de la teoría de la práctica de Charles Taylor. Para ello, analizaré su concepción de las prácticas constituidas por descripciones constitutivas, luego presentaré el alcance del "significado experiencial" y por último discutiré algunos problemas epistemológicos que se presentan para la constitución de teorías sociales de este último tipo

Influencia de los estereotipos de género en los cuentos clásicos

Curs acadèmic: 2018/2019El primer contacto de los niños y las niñas con la literatura infantil y juvenil (LIJ) juega un papel muy importante en la construcción de la identidad de género así como el proceso de socialización de los mismos. Los cuentos tradicionales forman parte de nuestra cultura, hemos crecido y descubierto un mundo utópico muy dispar a la realidad actual. La magia y la belleza, el amor y la sumisión son valores que refuerzan prejuicios sexistas propios de una sociedad androcéntrica. Conscientes del valor educativo del cuento, se hace un recorrido por diversas narraciones tradicionales a fin de analizar (y debatir) la existencia de estereotipos y roles de género. La cuestión a estudiar, se revisará gracias a las obras de autores celebres, entre otros: Charles Perrault, Jacob y Wilhelm Grimm y Giambattista Basile. A fin de sustentar el trabajo se llevará a cabo una propuesta de intervención con alumnado de Educación Primaria cuyo objetivo será identificar la presencia de prejuicios sexistas en los cuentos tradicionales. En este sentido, el propósito de este trabajo de final de grado (TFG) nace de la preocupación por conseguir educar en igualdad. Sensitivity of quinoa cv. ‘Titicaca’ to low salinity conditions

Quinoa (Chenopodium quinoa Will.) is an annual herbaceous Andean plant. In recent years there is a growing interest on it due to its high quality as food, its wide adaptation to agroecological conditions and resistance to different abiotic stresses. In this work, we evaluate the growth pattern of quinoa plants cv. ‘Titicaca’, subjected to different levels of salinity, focusing on leaf production and nutrient content. In this sense, the results have shown that a high concentration of salinity negatively affects the growth of quinoa plants. In fact, plants grown with 200 mM NaCl reduced the photosynthetic rate and levels of chlorophylls and carotenoids in comparison with the rest of the treatments. Likewise, it has been proven how the progressive increase in salinity has negative effects on transpiration, stomatal conductance and photosynthetic rate, with significant subsequent reductions in shoot biomass, leaf area and nutrient adquisition, but without a decline in leaf dry weight (DW) production. However, the treatment of 200 mM NaCl demonstrated the best results regarding the water-use efficiency, as well as the number of saline glands. According to our results, the quinoa plant cv. ‘Titicaca’ seems to be tolerant to moderate concentrations of salinity (50–100 mM NaCl). This study could serve as a reference on this little known and cultivated species in the Mediterranean region, since it could become an alternative crop in areas with moderate salinity problems.Luna Morcillo was supported by the Spanish MICINN (PTA2019-018094). Estudio preliminar de la usabilidad de tres tamaños de teclados basados en Interfaces Cerebro-Computador por pacientes con ELA

En referencia a los teclados basados en Interfaces Cerebro Computador que utilizan el biopotencial P300 como señal de control, el tamaño óptimo para personas con discapacidad motora no se ha presentado propiamente. En este trabajo se evaluaron tres tamaños de teclados mediante el enfoque de usabilidad – en términos de efectividad, eficiencia y satisfacción – para ofrecer uno adecuado. Cuatro pacientes con esclerosis lateral amiotrófica evaluaron los tres tamaños. Los participantes tuvieron peor desempeño con el tamaño pequeño, especialmente en la efectividad y satisfacción; mientras que con el mediano obtuvieron mejores resultados, resaltando la satisfacción. Los resultados muestran que se debe considerar el tamaño del teclado al diseñar un nuevo paradigma para personas con discapacidad.Universidad de Málaga. Psychological distress in relatives of critically ill patients: Risk and protective factors

The admission to an intensive care unit can result in a significant burden of emotional distress in the family. This study analyzes the psychological distress of 89 relatives of intensive care unit patients and the potential risk/protective factors for such distress. Families show high levels of anxiety, depression, and stress. Regarding risk factors, having steady partner, being a woman, and being a mother are associated with increased risk of anxiety, depression, and stress. Contrarily, being younger and having higher educational level are associated with reduced anxiety and stress. Influencing these trends could change positively the suffering course experienced by relatives and intensive care unit patients indirectly

Posible efecto de interacción entre el paradigma de presentación y el conjunto de estímulos en un teclado virtual controlado a través de una interfaz cerebro-ordenador basada en P300

Muchos trabajos en spellers basados en señal P300 visual han presentado estímulos novedosos que mejoraron el rendimiento utilizando el paradigma fila-columna (RCP). Sin embargo, la presentación visual serial rápida (RSVP) se ha mostrado como una opción adecuada para pacientes. Por tanto, el objetivo de este trabajo es evaluar dos conjuntos de estímulos en dos modos de presentación: RCP y RSVP. Dieciséis participantes controlaron cuatro spellers: letras en RCP, imágenes en RCP, letras en RSVP e imágenes en RSVP. Los resultados mostraron que el efecto de mejora dado por las imágenes fue mayor en RCP que en RSVP. Por lo tanto, este trabajo prueba que las mejoras relacionadas con estímulos alternativos bajo RCP pueden no ser transferidas directamente al RSVPUniversidad de Málaga. Evaluation of flashing stimuli shape and colour heterogeneity using a P300 brain-computer interface speller

Objective: Previous works using a visual P300-based speller have reported an improvement modifying the shape or colour of the presented stimulus. However, the effects of both blended factors have not been yet studied. Thus, the aim of the present work was to study both factors and assess the interaction between them. Method: Fifteen na\"ive participants tested four different spellers in a calibration and online task. All spellers were similar except the employed illumination of the target stimulus: white letters, white blocks, coloured letters, and coloured blocks. Results: The block-shaped conditions offered an improvement versus the letter-shaped conditions in the calibration (accuracy) and online (accuracy and correct commands per minute) tasks. Analysis of the P300 waveform showed a larger difference between target and no target stimulus waveforms for the block-shaped conditions versus the letter-shaped. The hypothesis regarding the colour heterogeneity of the stimuli was not found at any level of the analysis. Conclusion: The use of block-shaped illumination demonstrated a better performance than the standard letter-shaped flashing stimuli in classification performance, correct commands per minute, and P300 waveform

Avelumab, an IgG1 anti-PD-L1 immune checkpoint inhibitor, triggers NK cell-mediated cytotoxicity and cytokine production against Triple Negative Breast Cancer cells

The standard treatment for Triple Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC) patients is cytotoxic chemotherapy, but it is restricted since the duration of response is usually short. Blocking the PD-1/PD-L1 pathway through monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) appears to be a promising therapeutic strategy for TNBC patients. Avelumab is a human IgG1 anti-PD-L1 mAb being tested in clinical trials that may also trigger antibody-dependent cell-mediated cytotoxicity (ADCC) against cancer cells as an additional antitumor activity. In the present work, we studied in vitro Avelumab-mediated ADCC against a panel of TNBC cells with different PD-L1 expression using peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) or purified NK cells from healthy donors. We determined that Avelumab significantly enhanced NK-cell mediated cytotoxicity against TNBC cells and that tumor cells expressing higher levels of PD-L1 were more sensitive to Avelumab-mediated ADCC. IFN-? treatment upregulated PD-L1 expression in tumor cells but had a variable impact on Avelumab-mediated ADCC, which could be related to the simultaneous effect of IFN-? on the expression of NK cell ligands. Moreover, IL-2 and IL-15 stimulation of NK cells enhanced Avelumab-triggered cytokine production and degranulation along with increased lytic activity against tumor cells. Improving the treatment of TNBC remains still a considerable challenge. This in vitro study suggests that Avelumab-mediated ADCC, independently of the blockade of the PD-1/PD-L1 pathway, could be a valuable mechanism for tumor cell elimination in TNBC. Avelumab combination with immunomodulators such as IL-15 or IL-2 could be taken into consideration to increase the therapeutic efficacy of Avelumab in TNBC.Fil: Juliá, Estefanía Paula.
