Sustainable Development and Integral Ecology: The Philippine Ecological Experience

Two of the most important concepts that are related to environmental care and our present ecological situation are sustainable development and integral ecology. Pope Francis in his encyclical letter Laudato Si’ focused on these concepts and stressed the need to safeguard our environment to ensure that while we meet the needs of the present generation we also do not compromise the needs of the future generation. He proposes a development that is both sustainable and integral, a development that is authentically just and for the common good. In this paper I discuss the ideals of sustainable development and integral ecology as expounded by various scholars and from both the western and oriental perspectives and as discussed in Pope Francis’ Laudato Si’. The last section of the paper highlights the Philippine ecological situation to serve not as an ideal but a kind of mirror as to what is happening in a developing country like the Philippines which is situated in an area where different ecological factors converge. The Philippines has always been at the center of the many ecological crises mainly because of human and natural factors. In the end, I stress that sustainable development must be premised on integral ecology and this should be the case not only in the Philippines but in the entire planet

Assassinant el pensament crític. La Universitat mercantilitzada i el Grau d'Arqueologia com a exemple

Amb aquest article volem reflectir la nostra preocupació en front el model universitari actual. En un primer moment analitzarem quin és el context d'aquest procés que ha dut a la universitat pública a un clima de deriva, intentant veure quin és el model d'educació que pretenen implantar. Després veurem quins han estat els detalls -ideològics i materials- que ho han permès, a través de tot el ventall legislatiu que s'ha desplegat a nivell europeu, espanyol i català amb l'objectiu final de mostrar el grau cada cop més alt de precarització que s'ha materialitzat en els estudis de la ciència arqueològica dins la Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.With this article we want to reflect our concern regarding the current University model. In the beginning, We discuss about the context of this process, that has led to the public University to a climate of drift, trying to see what kind of education model they want to implement. Later, we will see details - ideological materials - that have allowed through all the legislative range that is open to European, Spanish and catalan, with the ultimate goal of show the degree of insecurity, increasingly higher that materialized in the studies of science archaeological in the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona

Aquest article ve motivat per la col·laboració del col·lectiu Estrat Jove en els preparatius per a l'excavació d'una fosa comuna de represaliats pel franquisme al poble de Loja que va ser cancel·lada pels motius que explicarem. A més, l'escrit vol fer una reexió a tall d'opinió del col·lectiu sobre la situació actual a l'estat espanyol en temes de memòria històrica, de la dictadura, la impunitat i els drets humans.This paper has been motivated by the cooperation between Estrat Jove and people of Loja in order to prepare the archaeological intervention at the franquist common grave of the town; something that gnally did not happen due to some issues that we will tackle next. Besides, this text has the aim to rethink of how Historic Memory is being handled in Spain, a topic that also includes dictatorship,political immunity and Human Rights
