Trans people perceptions of care received from healthcare professionals — A phenomenological study
Introduction: Trans people have unique health needs and turn to the public health system to meet them. Offering them a more inclusive assistance requires health professionals to know these needs and work on cultural competence. Understanding trans people perceptions of service received will improve therapeutic relationships and the assistance provided to them. Objective: To understand trans patients experiences with health care and their perception of care rendered by the Andalusian Public Health System. Design: A qualitative phenomenological study according to Ricoeur’s hermeneutic approach. Methodology: 18 in-depth interviews were conducted between January and April 2022 with trans adult users of the Andalusian Public Health System. These interviews were audio recorded, transcribed and analyzed following the steps proposed by Tan. The Consolidated Criteria for Reporting Qualitative Research was used for writing the study report. Results: Three themes were generated from trans patients experiences in the Andalusian Public Health System related to the assistance provided to them: 1) Positive and negative feelings during their pass through the public health system, 2) The importance of being able to receive the care they need, and 3) Having the chosen identity in official documents in order to utterly complete their transition. Conclusion: Care rendered by healthcare professionals to trans people was received as positive in mostly cases. However, trans people think these professionals need more training in order to avoid some behaviors they perceive as discriminatory and which they believe tends to pathologize gender identity. They also require more information about the treatments in particular they are about to receive and they demand to end drug shortages. Administrative procedures to change identity are also problematic. So the healthcare system must undergo some modifications in order to become more inclusive
The Morfeo Open Source Community: Building Technologies of the Future Web through Open Innovation
Nowadays enterprise collaboration is becoming essential for valuable innovation and competitive advantage. This collaboration has to be brought a step forward from technical collaboration till collective smart exploitation of global intelligence. Morfeo Open Source Community implements it as an open innovation schema of collaboration among SME’s, universities, research centres, public administration and major corporations. Its disruptive contribution to the state of the art is to manage the collaboration licensing the shared technology as open, with an OSI accepted license. The main results of this innovation model are the development of SOA open software standards, the increase of OSS quality, the creation of an OSS services provider ecosystem, with an important impact in the local economical development and the dissemination of the R&D&i activities among a broader set of organizations. Now Morfeo, with established relationship in Spain and EU, is involved defining new cooperation schemas in Ibero-America. Toxoplasma gondii and Neospora caninum seroprevalences in domestic South American camelids of the Peruvian Andes
The objective of this study was to investigate the presence of Toxoplasma gondii- and Neospora caninum-specific antibodies in domestic South American camelids (SAC) (llamas and alpacas) from the Peruvian Andes through a cross-sectional study. A wide panel of serum samples collected from 1,845 llamas and 2,874 alpacas from the two main SAC production areas of Peru was selected. Immunofluorescence antibody technique was employed to detect and titrate specific anti-T. gondii and anti-N. caninum immunoglobulins G in serum samples. The association between T. gondii and N. caninum seroprevalence and the geographical origin (Central and South Peruvian Andes) was evaluated. Anti-T. gondii antibodies were found in 460 (24.9%) llamas and 706 (24.6%) alpacas, whereas anti-N. caninum antibodies were detected in 153 (8.3%) llamas and 425 (14.8%) alpacas. Toxoplasma gondii infection was strongly associated with the South Peruvian Andes where moderate climate conditions, larger human population, compared to the Central region, and the presence of wildlife definitive hosts could favor horizontal transmission to SAC. In contrast, N. caninum infection was not associated with the geographical region. These results indicate that T. gondii and N. caninum infections are highly and moderately widespread, respectively, in both species of domestic SAC studied in the sampled areas and appropriate control measures should be undertaken to reduce the prevalence of both parasitic infections
Comparativa de Dos Técnicas Basadas en Roles para el Desarrollo de Software desde una Perspectiva Industrial
[EN] Both the degree in Telematic Engineering and the degree in Multimedia Engineering have a subject of Software Engineering. One competence of this subject is to train students as professionals for the real world. For this aim, we have applied two versions of a role-playing game where there are both clients, who ask for a system development project, and developers. In the degree in Telematic Ingineering, the teacher plays the role of client, while students play the role of developers. Regarding the degree of Multimedia Engineering, students play both the role of client and developer at the same time (for different projects). In this paper, we tackle both experiences and we show a comparative of results. For Telematic Engineering, we ensure that the workload is the same for all the students. Moreover, the teacher can control directly the work of the students since he/she knows perfectly the project that needs to be developed. Regarding Multimedia Engineering, we try to enhance the students’ creativity since they must devise themselves a project to develop. Moreover, the students learn how to develop both roles, which can be useful for the real world.[ES] Dentro de los grados de Ingeniería Telemática e Ingeniería Multimedia se imparte la asignatura de Ingeniería del Software. Una de las competencias de esta asignatura es formar a los alumnos como profesionales para el mundo real. Para ello, hemos aplicado dos variantes de un juego de rol donde hay clientes, que solicitan un proyecto informático, y desarrolladores. En el Grado de Ingeniería Telemática (GIT), el rol de usuario final lo tomaba un único profesor, mientras que los usuarios jugaban el rol de desarrolladores. En el Grado de Ingeniería Multimedia (GIM), los estudiantes jugaban a la vez el rol de cliente y de desarrolladores (para proyectos distintos). En este artículo se abordan ambas experiencias y se presenta una comparativa de los resultados obtenidos con ellas. En el caso de GIT se garantiza que la carga de trabajo es para todos los estudiantes la misma. Además, el profesor puede llevar un seguimiento más directo al conocer de primera mano el caso a desarrollar. En el caso de GIM se potencia la creatividad de los alumnos, ya que deben inventarse el proyecto a desarrollar. Evaluación del trabajo colaborativo en Iniciación a la Investigación en Biología
Tras el trabajo previo de diseño de la asignatura Iniciación a la Investigación en Biología, el equipo multidisciplinar de profesores y profesoras de la Red Docente INVES ha desarrollado una metodología propia de trabajo en equipo, no sólo entre el diferente profesorado que la compone, sino también con el profesorado de la asignatura Estadística, con la que se comparten objetivos de aprendizaje comunes. Se ha optimizado el sistema de evaluación del trabajo colaborativo del alumnado, mediante el uso de rubricas y auto-evaluación. Dicho trabajo consiste en el diseño y desarrollo de un proyecto de investigación bibliométrico de temática biológica realizado por los estudiantes, propiciando la adquisición de competencias transversales mediante una dinámica de trabajo en grupo que culmina en la edición de unas Jornadas Científicas. Por otra parte, se han consensuado criterios comunes de evaluación continua, mejorando en la eficiencia de la evaluación, y determinado un incremento de la capacidad de aprendizaje del alumnado a lo largo de los cursos 2010-11 al 2013-14. La oferta formativa se completa mediante la formación de un grupo de Alto Rendimiento Académico con docencia en lengua inglesa. Esto permite al alumnado implementar el objetivo general de compresión de lengua extranjera inglés en lo relativo al ámbito científico
The ERK5/NF-κB signaling pathway targets endometrial cancer proliferation and survival

Despite surgery combined with chemo-/radiotherapy regimens, overall survival of patients with high-risk EC tumors is poor, indicating a need for novel therapies. The MEK5-ERK5 pathway is activated in response to growth factors and to different stressors, including oxidative stress and cytokines. Previous evidence supports a role for the MEK5-ERK5 pathway in the pathology of several cancers. We investigated the role of ERK5 in EC. In silico analysis of the PanCancer Atlas dataset showed alterations in components of the MEK5-ERK5 pathway in 48% of EC patients. Here, we show that ERK5 inhibition or silencing decreased EGF-induced EC cell proliferation, and that genetic deletion of MEK5 resulted in EC impaired proliferation and reduced tumor growth capacity in nude mice. Pharmacologic inhibition or ERK5 silencing impaired NF-kB pathway in EC cells and xenografts. Furthermore, we found a positive correlation between ERK5 and p65/RELA protein levels in human EC tumor samples. Mechanistically, genetic or pharmacologic impairment of ERK5 resulted in downregulation of NEMO/IKKγ expression, leading to impaired p65/RELA activity and to apoptosis in EC cells and xenografts, which was rescued by NEMO/IKKγ overexpression. Notably, ERK5 inhibition, MEK5 deletion or NF-kB inhibition sensitized EC cells to standard EC chemotherapy (paclitaxel/carboplatin) toxicity, whereas ERK5 inhibition synergized with paclitaxel to reduce tumor xenograft growth in mice. Together, our results suggest that the ERK5-NEMO-NF-κB pathway mediates EC cell proliferation and survival. Avances en el trabajo colaborativo en Iniciación a la Investigación en Biología
Un equipo multidisciplinar de profesores y profesoras que componen la Red Docente INVES e imparten docencia en la asignatura Iniciación a la Investigación en Biología, ha desarrollado una metodología propia de trabajo en equipo, en coordinación con el profesorado de la asignatura Estadística, con la que se comparten objetivos de aprendizaje comunes. El sistema de evaluación del trabajo colaborativo del alumnado se ha optimizado mediante el uso de rúbricas y auto-evaluación. Se ha propiciado la adquisición de competencias transversales mediante una dinámica de trabajo en grupo. El diseño y desarrollo de un proyecto de investigación bibliométrico, de temática biológica, es realizado por los y las estudiantes, y culmina con la edición de unas Jornadas Científicas. Con el fin de mejorar la eficiencia de la evaluación, se han consensuado criterios comunes de evaluación continua entre el profesorado. Ello ha determinado un incremento de la capacidad de aprendizaje del alumnado a lo largo de los cursos 2010-11 al 2013-14. La lectura y compresión de textos científicos en inglés junto a la formación de un grupo de Alto Rendimiento Académico con docencia en lengua inglesa completa la oferta formativa, permitiendo al alumnado implementar el objetivo general de compresión de lengua extranjera inglés en lo relativo al ámbito científico
Analysis of the backward bending modes in damped rotating beams
[EN] This article presents a study of the backward bending mode of a simply supported rotating Rayleigh beam with internal damping. The study analyses the natural frequency behaviour of the backward mode according to the internal viscous damping ratio, the slenderness of the beam and its spin speed. To date, the behaviour of the natural frequency of the backward mode is known to be a monotonically decreasing function with spin speed due to gyroscopic effects. In this article, however, it is shown that this behaviour of the natural frequency may not hold for certain damping and slenderness conditions, and reaches a minimum value (concave function) from which it begins to increase. Accordingly, the analytical expression of the spin speed for which the natural frequency of the backward mode attains the minimum value has been obtained. INVES: Docencia en Iniciación a la Investigación en Biología
Un equipo multidisciplinar de profesores y profesoras que imparten docencia en la asignatura Iniciación a la Investigación en Biología, constituyen la Red Docente INVES con el fin de desarrollar una metodología propia de trabajo en equipo, en coordinación con el profesorado de la asignatura Estadística, con la que se comparten objetivos de aprendizaje comunes. Durante el desarrollo de la asignatura, el alumnado diseña y ejecuta un proyecto de investigación bibliométrico de temática biológica sobre un tema actual y de interés. Con ello se favorece la adquisición de competencias transversales del módulo básico del título de grado. La dinámica de trabajo en grupo culmina en la edición de unas Jornadas Científicas, donde los estudiantes exponen los trabajos realizados. Se han consensuado modificaciones en las metodologías y actividades de aprendizaje, mejorando en la eficiencia de la experiencia de enseñanza-aprendizaje
