THE USE OF PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT FOR STRATEGIC ALIGNMENT – A SURVEY WITH BRAZILIAN COMPANIES

The number of organizations that use the Project Portfolio Management - PPM has increased considerablyworldwide, as it provides an approach to the coordinated management of the components portfolio,aiming to achieve the strategies of organizations. The objective of this work was, thru a quantitativeresearch, presents Brazilian organizations use of PPM as a mechanism to promote alignment with thestrategic management. The results obtained in this research were compared with the data results obtainedin PMSurvey.org´s 2012 research. A economia não observada no Brasil: Um estudo baseado na metodologia do Sistema de Contas Nacionais

As considerações que envolvem as atividades produtivas não captadas regularmente pelas estatísticas oficiais, a “economia não observada” (ENO), é tema relevante para a economia brasileira, associado diretamente ao Sistema de Contas Nacionais (SCN).  Este artigo busca trazer à baila questões conceituais, metodológicas e resultados para a economia brasileira de forma a complementar o SCN correntemente divulgado no país. A ENO no Brasil como proporção do PIB decresceu de 15,8% para 11,6%, entre 2000 e 2009, resultado influenciado pela redução do ainda significativo peso da produção familiar e informal na economia do País. Fatores como o crescimento econômico, sobretudo no período 2004-2008, e efeitos de medidas específicas como redução e simplificação de impostos, expansão do crédito para microempreendedores e o aumento da fiscalização trabalhista, foram identificados como relevantes para esta redução

Avaliação da Produção científica sobre o Alinhamento entre a TI e o Negócio e o Gerenciamento de Portfólio de Projetos

The aim of this study is to identify scientifically relevant research in the last five years on the alignment between Information Technology - IT and Business in organizations, and also on Project Portfolio Management - PPM as a possible mechanism for promoting this alignment. The methodology used was the implementation of systematic exploratory search in databases associated with the CAPES Journals Portal, the Brazilian Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations - BDTD of IBICT, and the selection and analysis of articles from the Web of Knowledge portal. Based on the set of selected publications, the main approaches to IT - Business alignment and Project Portfolio Management were determined. The results also indicated a tiny current scientific production directly related to specific topics and their correlation.  O objetivo do presente estudo é identificar referências cientificamente relevantes dos últimos cinco anos sobre o Alinhamento entre a Tecnologia da Informação – TI e o Negócio nas organizações, e também sobre a Gestão de Portfólio de Projetos – GPP como possível mecanismo para promoção deste alinhamento. A metodologia utilizada foi a realização de pesquisas exploratórias sistemáticas em bases de dados associados ao Portal de Periódicos da CAPES, a Biblioteca Digital Brasileira de Dissertações e Teses – BDTD do IBICT, e a seleção e análise de artigos do portal Web of Knowledge. Com base no conjunto de publicações localizadas, foram determinadas as principais abordagens sobre alinhamento TI - Negócio e Gestão de Portfólio de Projetos. Os resultados da pesquisa indicam ainda uma diminuta produção científica atual diretamente relacionada aos temas pesquisados e à sua correlação

Neoadjuvant Chemoradiotherapy And Surgery Compared With Surgery Alone In Squamous Cell Carcinoma Of The Esophagus.

Despite progress in recent years in methods of diagnosis and surgical treatment of esophageal cancer, there is still controversy about the benefits from neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy. To analise the survival of patients submitted to esophagectomy for squamous cell carcinoma of the esophagus with or without neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy. A retrospective, non-randomized study conducted using the medical charts of patients operated for squamous cell carcinoma of the esophagus at the School of Medical Sciences, University of Campinas (UNICAMP), Campinas, São Paulo, Brazil between 1979 and 2006. The Kaplan-Meier analysis was used to calculate survival curves and the log-rank test to compare data in each group. The significance level was settled as 5%. A total of 123 patients were evaluated in this study, divided into three groups: I-26 (21.2%) patients submitted to esophagectomy alone; II-81 (65.8%) patients submitted to neoadjuvant radiotherapy plus esophagectomy and III-16 (13%) patients submitted to neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy plus esophagectomy. A statistically significant survival was recorded between the groups (log rank=6.007; P=0.05), survival being greatest in the group submitted to neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy, followed by the group submitted to neoadjuvant radiotherapy compared to the group submitted to esophagectomy alone as the initial treatment of choice. Radiotherapy and chemotherapy neoadjuvants in patients with squamous cell carcinoma of the esophagus offers benefits and increases survival.50101-

Educational Counselor training and action: Interdisciplinary perspectives

The Educational Counselor is one of the professionals in the school management team. His role is to be the relation mediator in the school. He is the one who enables the creation of spaces for dialogue and listening among those involved in the school community. The objective of the present research is to investigate the formation and performance of the Educational Counselor at an interdisciplinary perspective. Nine educational counselor were interviewed and, in order to analyze the produced data, we have used content analysis. The results have pointed out different conceptions of education brought by the participants. They have stressed the importance of training in psychology, in addition to the experience acquired in daily work, with no consensus regarding the role of the educational counselor to the school staff. It was certified not only the importance of working with families, but also the usage of an adequate language to reach the school community. Regarding the knowledge needed to be an educational counselor, they have indicated: analytical listening, institutional analysis, and human development, skills and abilities that are part of the psychologist’s training. New studies should be developed on the work of the educational counselor, as well as a militancy for a public education policy that makes possible the insertion of this indispensable professional in all the schools of the country
