Application of the FANTASTIC Lifestyle Questionnaire in the Academic Context

Studying citizens’ lifestyles is extremely important for understanding society and the social conditions of the personal lifestyle. Understanding the lifestyles of university students is especially important because they will be the future citizens and professionals who will shape society’s future. The aim of this study was a systematic review of the scientific literature about the use of the FANTASTIC Lifestyle questionnaire in an academic context. The reflective systematic literature review was carried out on PubMed, MEDLINE, Science Direct, and SCIELO databases with the keywords (“FANTASTIC Lifestyle questionnaire” OR “FANTASTICO questionnaire” OR “FANTASTIC questionnaire” OR “FANTASTIC survey” OR “FANTASTIC checklist”) AND (“university students”). The PRISMA criteria for reporting systematic reviews and meta-analyses were applied. The inclusion criteria were the use of the “FANTASTIC Lifestyle questionnaire” instrument for measuring lifestyles, the presentation of quantitative or qualitative results, and psychometric studies. The exclusion criteria were no use of FANTASTIC Lifestyle Questionnaire; other population, no quantitative or qualitative analysis, incomplete articles. The 15 scientific articles included in the study were analyzed. This literature review allowed us to conclude the importance and usefulness/actuality of this questionnaire. Furthermore, the importance of diagnosis should be emphasized, as should the development of strategies and intervention programs for the maintenance or creation of healthy societies.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

Nursing student orientation: information techology challenges and strategies

Os ensinos clínicos no ensino de enfermagem e na intervenção comunitária têm cada vez mais a necessidade de se adaptar às novas exigências e oportunidades das tecnologias de informação. Através deste estudo de caso pretende-se dar a conhecer as potencialidades e experiência resul- tante da utilização continuada de uma plataforma de e-learning (BlackBoard ®) e de um sistema de sala de aula virtual (Adobe Connect™). Os resultados demonstram uma clara associação entre o maior desen-volvimento/interação com os sistemas e a liderança e excelência nos grupos de estudantes de enfermagem inseridos no ensino clínico em estudo.Clinical Internships in nursing education and community intervention are increasingly the need to adapt to new demands and opportunities of information technology. A importância dos serviços de extensão no ensino de enfermagem : a experiência do Centro de Enfermagem da Católica

Desde Nightingale, o ensino da enfermagem sistematizado promove a aquisição de competências dos estudantes tanto pelo ensino teórico como pelo ensino clínico. Neste, o número de horas e o modelo de supervisão adotados foram sendo alterados ao longo do tempo, sendo mais relevantes o acompanhamento dos estudantes na componente prática recorrendo à supervisão direta do docente, à supervisão pelo enfermeiro do local da prática, ao mentorado ou integração em Unidades Dedicadas à Educação. Com a integração do ensino de enfermagem no ensino superior, a par da formação dos estudantes, as unidades de ensino devem dar resposta à missão de investigação e de extensão comunitária. Em estudos anteriores, sobre contextos e estratégias de ensino clínico em enfermagem, verificou-se a necessidade de aprofundar o conhecimento sobre a contribuição que um serviço de extensão poderia ter no ensino. Para prosseguir esse objetivo analisou-se a criação e desenvolvimento do Centro de Enfermagem da Católica (CEC) como serviço de extensão da Escola de Enfermagem – Porto (UCP) e o seu contributo específico para o ensino de enfermagem. A presente investigação baseou-se no método de estudo de caso e incidiu sobre os dez anos de atividade do CEC (2007-2017). Neste percurso, foram utilizadas fontes documentais associadas ao CEC e conteúdos das entrevistas realizadas a intervenientes chave. Foram utilizadas duas bases teóricas: a proposta por Imogene King, que identifica a Estrutura dos Sistemas de Interação como articulação dinâmica dos sistemas entre si; e a proposta por David Kolb, que defende que a aprendizagem decorre da transformação da experiência. A primeira teoria é proposta como um conjunto que integra desde o indivíduo até aos sistemas sociais ou comunidades em que se insere e onde se espera encontrar a relação enfermeiro-cliente. A segunda emana do pressuposto de que cada indivíduo tem potencial de desenvolvimento e o mesmo pode ser promovido pelo uso do pensamento reflexivo. Os resultados indicam que o CEC, ao ser criado como serviço de extensão para ser local de ensino clínico, promoveu a adequada resposta às necessidades de aprendizagem dos estudantes. Este serviço integra em simultâneo apoio ao ensino, apoio à investigação, prestação de serviços e assessoria. Verificou-se que esta integração permitiu a inovação e orientação das várias vertentes mantendo o alinhamento com a missão, os valores e a visão da instituição em que se insere. Pela atividade realizada nos 10 anos sobressai a aposta na capacitação dos clientes e comunidades mais vulneráveis. A intervenção tem sido realizada através de projetos de intervenção comunitária que responderam adequadamente às exigências do ensino e investigação, com potencial de melhoria na sistematização do impacto e dos resultados. Decorre do presente estudo a proposta de integrar no apoio ao ensino a componente do mentorado (também pelos pares); no apoio à investigação um reforço da investigação-ação de Community-based Research. Estas propostas reforçarão o objetivo de produzir e mobilizar conhecimento na e com as comunidades como resposta aos problemas nela encontrados.Since Nightingale, systematized nursing education has encouraged the acquisition of students' competencies through theoretical and clinical teaching. In this process, the number of hours and the supervision model adopted has changed over time. The most important, the monitoring of students in the practical component, can be done by using the direct supervision of the teacher, by the nurse in the place of the practice, mentoring or integration in Dedicated Education Units. The integration of nursing education in higher education has brought, along with the training of students, the obligation of educational units to research and reach out to the community. Previous studies into nursing clinical teaching contexts and strategies had demonstrated the need to deepen the knowledge of the contribution to teaching that an outreach service could have. The Porto nursing School (UCP) created and developed a Catholic Nursing Centre (CEC) as an extension service. This process was analysed regarding its specific contribution to nursing teaching. The present research was based on a case study and focused on the ten years of CEC activity (2007-2017). Sources related to CEC as well as the contents from interviews with key players were considered in the research documentary. Two theoretical bases were used: Imogene King’s theory which identifies the structure of interaction systems as a dynamic articulation of the systems between them; David Kolb’s theory which argues that learning stems from the transformation of experience. The first theory is proposed as one that integrates the individual to the social systems or communities in which the nurse-client relationship is found. The second emanates from the assumption that an individual has the potential for development which is encouraged by reflective thinking. The results indicate that the creation of CEC as an extension service and a place of clinical nursing teaching, was an adequate response to students' learning needs. It was also seen that this service, supports research, nursing services, and counselling, while integrating support for teaching. This also allowed the innovation and orientation in line with the institution's mission, values, and vision. In the ten years of this activity which were studied, it is evident that it empowered the most vulnerable clients and communities This empowerment was based on community intervention projects that adequately respond to the teaching and research requirements. It is also evident that the intervention highlighted the potential for improvement in the systematization of the impact and results. FANTASTIC lifestyle questionnaire from 1983 until 2022: A review

Background: Studying lifestyles has always been important; quantifying them has become more complex. However, a questionnaire produced in 1983 has shown that its simple form of evaluation can be an added value in understanding lifestyles. Our aim is a systematic review of the scientific literature about the use of the FANTASTIC Lifestyle questionnaire (FLQ). Methods: The reflective systematic literature review on PubMed, Medline, Science Direct, and SCIELO databases with the descriptors "FANTASTIC Lifestyle questionnaire" OR "FANTASTICO questionnaire" OR "FANTASTIC questionnaire" OR "FANTASTIC survey" OR "FANTASTIC checklist". PRISMA criteria reporting of systematic reviews and meta-analyses were applied. The inclusion criteria were the use of FLQ instrument to measure lifestyles, presenting quantitative or qualitative results, and psychometric studies. It excluded other lifestyle instruments, incomplete articles, and non-English, Brazilian, Spanish, and Portuguese language articles. Results: Findings reveal 41 scientific articles included in the study. It analyzed the results and most studies use the instrument to assess all dimensions. However, some studies reported assessing specific dimensions such as nutrition, sleep, stress, tobacco, alcohol, and drugs. The questionnaire has been applied to a wide range of ages and literacy levels. Conclusion: This literature review allowed us to conclude that this questionnaire is still in use today and is applied in several contexts and populations. It is also possible to verify the relevance of its use and to design intervention strategies and programs for a healthy society. It is essential to draw attention to this issue and promote health literacy (HL) on this topic

Mi estilo de vida FANTASTICO: traducción, adaptación y validación del cuestionario en preadolescentes portugueses

Enquadramento: Os estilos de vida construídos na pré-adolescência influenciarão todo o desenvolvimento humano ao longo do ciclo vital. O seu diagnóstico constitui uma necessidade efetiva para a prestação dos cuidados de enfermagem ao nível da saúde escolar. Objetivo: Traduzir, adaptar e validar o questionário FANTASTICO para pré-adolescentes portugueses.Metodologia: realizou-se um processo de tradução e de adaptação do questionário com recurso à Técnica de Delphi. Foi criada uma base informática específica. Realizou-se um estudo exploratório para avaliar as propriedades psicométricas do instrumento. O processo desenvolveu-se entre janeiro e julho de 2019. Resultados: A versão traduzida e adaptada em painel de peritos, manteve os 30 itens do instrumento original. O estudo exploratório revelou que o instrumento apresenta um bom alfa de Cronbach total de 0,72.Conclusão: A versão portuguesa O Meu Estilo de Vida FANTASTICO (pré-adolescentes) constitui um bom instrumento de medida para avaliar os estilos de vida dos pré-adolescentes portugueses.Background: Lifestyles built in pre-adolescence will influence all human development throughoutthe life cycle. A specific computer base it was created. An exploratory study was carried out toevaluate the instrument’s psychometric properties. The process took place between January and July 2019.Results: The translated version and adapted by an expert panel maintained the 30 items of the originalinstrument. The exploratory study revealed that the instrument has good psychometric properties witha total Cronbach’s alpha of 0.72.Conclusion: The Portuguese version O Meu Estilo de Vida FANTASTICO (pre-adolescents) is a goodmeasuring instrument to assess the lifestyles of Portuguese pre-adolescents.Marco contextual: Los estilos de vida construidos en la preadolescencia influirán en todo el desarrollo humano a lo largo del ciclo vital. Su diagnóstico es una necesidad efectiva para la prestación de cuidados de enfermería en el ámbito de la salud escolar.
