    Sintering Preparation of 15 wt% Cr Cast Iron as well as Its Mechanical Properties and Impact Abrasive Wear

    15 wt% Cr sintered High Chromium Cast Iron (HCCI) with full density was successfully prepared by Super-solidus Liquid Phase Sintering (SPLS) technique, with water atomized 15 wt% Cr high chromium cast iron powder as initial materials. Its densification behavior and microstructure evolution in SPLS process and mechanical properties were investigated systematically. Additionally, the impact abrasive wear resistance under different impact energies were also analyzed and compared with another sintered HCCI with 20 wt% Cr. The results indicated that sintering temperature has a strong influence on the sintered alloy’s density, hardness, impact toughness and bending strength. The M7C3 type (M is Cr and Fe) carbides were obviously coarsened as temperature increased and their rod-shaped branches were fully developed at the same time, thereby resulting in carbide network formation in the matrix. The reasonable sintering temperature range was 1195–1205 Â°C, and the optimum mechanical properties had the hardness of 63.9 HRC, bending strength of 2112.65 MPa and impact toughness of 7.92 J/cm2. What is more important impact abrasive wear test results indicated 15 wt% Cr sintered HCCI’s wear resistance could be comparable to 20 wt% Cr sintered HCCI under impact energy 1~3 J/cm2, and it is more cost effective

    The U(1)Lμ−LτU(1)_{L_\mu-L_\tau} breaking phase transition, muon g−2g-2, dark matter, collider and gravitational wave

    Combining the dark matter and muon g−2g-2 anomaly, we study the U(1)Lμ−LτU(1)_{L_\mu-L_\tau} breaking phase transition, gravitational wave spectra, and the direct detection at the LHC in an extra U(1)Lμ−LτU(1)_{L_\mu-L_\tau} gauge symmetry extension of the standard model. The new fields includes vector-like leptons (E1, E2, NE_1,~ E_2,~ N), U(1)Lμ−LτU(1)_{L_\mu-L_\tau} breaking scalar SS and gauge boson Z′Z', as well as the dark matter candidate XIX_I and its heavy partner XRX_R. A joint explanation of the dark matter relic density and muon g−2g-2 anomaly excludes the region where both min(mE1,mE2,mN,mXR)min(m_{E_1},m_{E_2},m_N,m_{X_R}) and min(mZ′,mS)min(m_{Z'},m_S) are much larger than mXIm_{X_I}. In the parameter space accommodating the DM relic density and muon g−2g-2 anomaly, the model can achieve a first order U(1)Lμ−LτU(1)_{L_\mu-L_\tau} breaking phase transition, whose strength is sensitive to the parameters of Higgs potential. The corresponding gravitational wave spectra can reach the sensitivity of U-DECIGO. In addition, the direct searches at the LHC impose stringent bound on the mass spectra of the vector-like leptons and dark matter.Comment: 21 pages, 4 figures, 2 table

    Clearance of damaged mitochondria via mitophagy is important to the protective effect of ischemic preconditioning in kidneys

    <p>Ischemic preconditioning (IPC) affords tissue protection in organs including kidneys; however, the underlying mechanism remains unclear. Here we demonstrate an important role of macroautophagy/autophagy (especially mitophagy) in the protective effect of IPC in kidneys. IPC induced autophagy in renal tubular cells in mice and suppressed subsequent renal ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI). The protective effect of IPC was abolished by pharmacological inhibitors of autophagy and by the ablation of <i>Atg7</i> from kidney proximal tubules. Pretreatment with BECN1/Beclin1 peptide induced autophagy and protected against IRI. These results suggest the dependence of IPC protection on renal autophagy. During IPC, the mitophagy regulator PINK1 (PTEN induced putative kinase 1) was activated. Both IPC and BECN1 peptide enhanced mitolysosome formation during renal IRI in mitophagy reporter mice, suggesting that IPC may protect kidneys by activating mitophagy. We further established an in vitro model of IPC by inducing ‘chemical ischemia’ in kidney proximal tubular cells with carbonyl cyanide 3-chlorophenylhydrazone (CCCP). Brief treatment with CCCP protected against subsequent injury in these cells and the protective effect was abrogated by autophagy inhibition. In vitro IPC increased mitophagosome formation, enhanced the delivery of mitophagosomes to lysosomes, and promoted the clearance of damaged mitochondria during subsequent CCCP treatment. IPC also suppressed mitochondrial depolarization, improved ATP production, and inhibited the generation of reactive oxygen species. Knockdown of <i>Pink1</i> suppressed mitophagy and reduced the cytoprotective effect of IPC.     A common variant near TGFBR3 is associated with primary open angle glaucoma

    Primary open angle glaucoma (POAG), a major cause of blindness worldwide, is a complex disease with a significant genetic contribution. We performed Exome Array (Illumina) analysis on 3504 POAG cases and 9746 controls with replication of the most significant findings in 9173 POAG cases and 26 780 controls across 18 collections of Asian, African and European descent. Apart from confirming strong evidence of association at CDKN2B-AS1 (rs2157719 [G], odds ratio [OR] = 0.71, P = 2.81 × 10−33), we observed one SNP showing significant association to POAG (CDC7–TGFBR3 rs1192415, ORG-allele = 1.13, Pmeta = 1.60 × 10−8). This particular SNP has previously been shown to be strongly associated with optic disc area and vertical cup-to-disc ratio, which are regarded as glaucoma-related quantitative traits. Our study now extends this by directly implicating it in POAG disease pathogenesis

    Information Economics and Accounting Measurement: A Blueprint for Scholarly Research

    In this essay, we wish to make a single, simple argument. That is, if information problems are the primary root of the accounting problems, then modern information economics should be the center of accounting research. In making this argument, we plan to first revisit a somewhat elementary accounting question. Using the question as a spring-board, we retrace the rise of information economics in the accounting discipline. Finally, we argue that to answer similarly posed questions, accounting theory needs a (modern) information-economics core. It also needs to build accounting measurement structure based on the core. Such an accounting theory, hopefully, connects with the existing framework of accounting practice at a fundamental level and ought to guide accounting research, education, and policy-making

    Study on the treatment of phenol-containing wastewater by doping coal char

    The single blending of biomass and S-TiO2 and the mixed modification of coal char were obtained by the method of coking with coal pyrolysis furnace. The adsorption performance of biomass and S-TiO2 was investigated by the adsorption experiment of phenol solution. The results show that under the optimal conditions the best performance of MCC-2 can achieve 94% removal efficiency of phenol. The adsorption efficiency is 20% higher than that reported in the literature, and the adsorption equilibrium time is several times shorter than that reported in the literature. The modified coal char has broad prospects as a substitute for activated carbon in practical application
