Critique [of Symbolic Interaction and Black Mental Health: Understanding Black Self-Conceptions]
Aside from the intrinsic merit of Dr. Shirley V. Brown\u27s Symbolic interaction and Black Mental Health,...” the paper raises several important corollary issues that need extensive investigation; (1) the effects of one\u27s self-concept upon how he or she views others; (2) the negligible effects of affirmative action programs; (3) the adverse effects of public school integration on blacks; (4) the validity of the assumption that schools in predominantly black neighborhoods are inherently inferior; and (5) the insidious notion that mainstreaming is both possible and desirable
Two-loop quark self-energy in a new formalism; 1, overlapping divergences
A new integration technique for multi-loop Feynman integrals, called the \it matrix method\rm, is developed and then applied to the divergent part of the overlapping two-loop quark self-energy function \,i\Sigma\, in the light-cone gauge \ n\!\cdot\!A^a(x)=0,\ n^2=0. It is shown that the coefficient of the double-pole term is strictly local, even off mass-shell, while the coefficient of the single-pole term contains local as well as nonlocal parts. On mass-shell, the single-pole part is local, of course. It is worth noting that the original overlapping self-energy integral reduces eventually to 10 covariant and 38 noncovariant-gauge integrals. We were able to verify explicitly that the {\it divergent parts} of the 10 double covariant-gauge integrals agreed precisely with those currently used to calculate radiative corrections in the Standard Model. \par Our new technique is amazingly powerful, being applicable to massive and massless integrals alike, and capable of handling both covariant-gauge integrals and the more difficult noncovariant-gauge integrals. Perhaps the most important feature of the matrix method is the ability to execute the 4\omega-dimensional momentum integrations in a single operation, exactly and in analytic form. The method works equally well for other axial-type gauges, notably the temporal gauge (n^2>0) and the pure axial gauge (n^2<0)
Paper Session I-B - Modeling Methodology: The Use of Vehicle Control System Modeling for the International Space Station (ISS) Program
This paper presents a new control system software development approach entitled, RAPid Modeling and Analysis Philosophy (RAPMAP), and presents an example of the application of this approach on the International Space Station (ISS) program. RAPMAP embraces control system behavior modeling as an integral and ongoing part of the nominal development and integration process. Through a process called ‘Predictive-Verification,’ the RAPMAP approach ensures that development proceeds based on known and demonstrable performance and behavior throughout the development life cycle. The RAPMAP approach provides early identification of system integration issues and support for test and operational procedure development and training long before development products, which normally support these activities, are available. Section 1 of this paper introduces the concept of control system behavior modeling. Section 2 describes the RAPMAP approach and Section 3 provides a description of the the RAPMAP approach including a detailed description of its application on the ISS program. Section 4 summarizes the benefits of the RAPMAP approach
To determine if hypercholesterolemia is associated with impaired renal function in patients with Chronic Kidney Disease at Sullana Hospital, Piura
- 2023.
Materials and methods: The research was based on a non-experimental approach, involving an observational and case-control analytical process, with a study population comprising 252 patients from Sullana Support Hospital. Secondary sources, specifically medical records, were utilized to collect the necessary data. Regarding the statistical analysis, a detailed description of the data and records for each variable was conducted using SPSS Version 26 software. To assess the relationship between the variables of interest, the ""Odds Ratio"" method was employed. This method quantifies the association between exposure to a variable and the outcome of interest, evaluating the likelihood of such an outcome occurring.
Results: Among a group of 252 patients, it was observed that the prevalence of hypercholesterolemia was 48.8% in those with impaired renal function, while in those without this alteration, it was 28.0%. These results suggest a significant association between the presence of hypercholesterolemia and impaired renal function in patients with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD).
Conclusions: An association has been identified between hypercholesterolemia and impaired renal function in patients from the Internal Medicine Department at Sullana Hospital, Piura, during the year 2023.Tesi
Candidate Earth Entry Trajectories to Mimic Venus Aerocapture Using a Lifting ADEPT
A Lifting ADEPT is considered for aerocapture at Venus. Analysis concerning the heating environment leads to an initial sizing estimate. In tandem, a direct entry profile at Earth is considered to act as a facsimile for the Venus aerocapture heating environment. The bounds of this direct entry profile are determined and it is found that a trajectory from a Geostationary Transfer Orbit with a Lifting ADEPT capable of fitting on a rideshare opportunity is capable of matching certain aspects of this heating environment
The impact of highway construction on a fresh water stream - a demonstration project
Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) commenced a demonstration study in 1976 to determine the impact of highway construction on a fresh water stream. A creek near a highway construction site along US-69 at Limestone Gap in northern Atoka County was selected. The testing sites along the streams in the area of construction were monitored for physical and chemical changes. The sites were monitored by ODOT Research Division for a period of 11 years. A cost analysis was made to show approximate cost of conducting typical studies per year. It was concluded that the construction activities used have no recognizable impact on fresh water streams, like Limestone Creek. It is recommended that highway construction contractors follow some guidelines to minimize erosion from construction sites. It is also recommended that similar studies be conducted in future construction areas where there is a potential for highway construction to impact on aquatic life or fresh water quality.Final Report February 1976-July 1988.N

Targeted polypharmacology: discovery of dual inhibitors of tyrosine and phosphoinositide kinases.
The clinical success of multitargeted kinase inhibitors has stimulated efforts to identify promiscuous drugs with optimal selectivity profiles. It remains unclear to what extent such drugs can be rationally designed, particularly for combinations of targets that are structurally divergent. Here we report the systematic discovery of molecules that potently inhibit both tyrosine kinases and phosphatidylinositol-3-OH kinases, two protein families that are among the most intensely pursued cancer drug targets. Through iterative chemical synthesis, X-ray crystallography and kinome-level biochemical profiling, we identified compounds that inhibit a spectrum of new target combinations in these two families. Crystal structures revealed that the dual selectivity of these molecules is controlled by a hydrophobic pocket conserved in both enzyme classes and accessible through a rotatable bond in the drug skeleton. We show that one compound, PP121, blocks the proliferation of tumor cells by direct inhibition of oncogenic tyrosine kinases and phosphatidylinositol-3-OH kinases. These molecules demonstrate the feasibility of accessing a chemical space that intersects two families of oncogenes
