    Get PDF

On generating the set of nondominated solutions of a linear programming problem with parameterized fuzzy numbers

    Get PDF
The paper presents a new method for solving fully fuzzy linear programming problems with inequality constraints and parameterized fuzzy numbers, by means of solving multiobjective linear programming problems. The equivalence is proven between the set of nondominated solutions of the fully fuzzy linear programming problem and the set of weakly efficient solutions of the considered and related multiobjective linear problem. The whole set of nondominated solutions for a fully fuzzy linear programming problem is explicitly obtained by means of a finite generator set.The first author was partially supported by the research project MTM2017-89577-P (MINECO, Spain), and the second author was partially supported by Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness through grants AYA2016-75931-C2-1-P, AYA2015-68012-C2-1, AYA2014-57490-P, AYA2013-40611-P, and from the Consejería de Educación y Ciencia (Junta de Andalucía) through TIC-101, TIC-4075 and TIC-114

    A fuzzy DEA slacks-based approach

    Get PDF
This paper deals with the problem of efficiency assessment using Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) when the input and output data are given as fuzzy sets. In particular, a fuzzy extension of the measure of inefficiency proportions, a well-known slacks-based additive inefficiency measure, is considered. The proposed approach also provides fuzzy input and output targets. Computational experiences and comparison with other fuzzy DEA approaches are reported. The first author was partially supported by the research project MTM2017-89577-P (MINECO, Spain). The purpose of this study was to gain an overview of Spanish emerging adults’ family relationships and their link with psychological well-being and psychological distress. The sample comprised 1502 undergraduate students (903 women and 599 men) aged between 18 and 29 (M = 20.32 and SD = 2.13), recruited from two universities in Spain. A cluster analysis identified three groups of families based on the centrality of five family variables: parental involvement, parental support for autonomy, parental warmth, behavioral control and psychological control. The three groups or clusters were labeled high-quality family relationships (HQ), intermediate-quality family relationships (IQ) and low-quality family relationships (LQ). Women were overrepresented in the HQ cluster, whereas men were overrepresented in the IQ cluster. Moreover, emerging adults who perceived better family relationships (high levels of parental involvement, parental support for autonomy and parental warmth, and low levels of behavioral and psychological control) were found to have a higher level of psychological adjustment. Thus, our results indicate that family plays a key role in the psychological well-being of emerging adults. The discussion focuses on the implications of this finding for the parent-child relationship, and explores how it extends our knowledge about family relationships during emerging adulthood

MTA HP Repair stimulates in vitro an homogeneous calcium phosphate phase coating deposition

To study the mineralization capacity in vitro of the bioceramic endodontic material MTA HP Repair. Bioactivity evaluation in vitro was carried out, by soaking processed cement disk in simulated body fluid (SBF) during 168 h. The cement surface was studied by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), field emission gun scanning electron microscopy (FEG-SEM) and energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX). Release to the SBF media of ionic degradation products was monitored using inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectroscopy (ICP-AES). FT-IR showed increasing formation of phosphate phase bands at 1097, 960, 607 and 570 cm-1 with prolonged SBF soaking. FEG-SEM analysis reveals that HP produces a effectively surface covering consisting in homogeneous spherical phosphate phase aggregates with an average diameter of 0.5-1.0 µm. EDX analysis comparing un-treated (hydrated), 24 h and 72 h SBF treated surfaces of MTA HP Repair revealed phosphate deposition after 24 h, with high phosphorous/silicon element ratio signal measured after 24 h, indicating a very high phosphate phase deposition for this material. The study shows that MTA HP Repair produces a quick and effective bioactive response in vitro in terms of crystalline calcium phosphate surface coating formation. The high bioactive response of MTA HP Repair makes it an interesting candidate for endodontic use as repair cement

To characterize the chemical composition and textural parameters of the MTA Repair HP precursor powder and their influence to hydration performance. Un-hydrated precursor material was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), X-ray fluorescence (XRF), laser diffraction (LD), N2 physisorption and field emission gun scanning electron microscopy (FEG-SEM). Setting time was assessed according to ASTM specification C 266. Hydrated material was analysed by XRD, FT-IR, energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) analysis and FEG-SEM. Ca3SiO5 and Ca2SiO4, in addition to CaWO4 as radiopacifier are the main compositional phases. Other measured parameter indicates high specific surface area of 4.8 m2 g-1, high aluminium content of 1.7 wt.% and low initial and final setting times of 12 and 199 min, respectively. Singular microstructural features consisting of high aspect ratio nanoparticles are main constituents of un-hydrated precursor. Besides, FEM-SEM observation shows notably growth of hexagonal shaped plate-like morphologies homogeneously distributed along the sample during hydration process. The short setting time measured for HP Repair, is correlated with high surface area of precursor powder, high Al content and the absence of compositional sulphate phases

Using feedback from summer subtropical highs to evaluate climate models

This letter aims to broaden the spectrum of methods for model evaluation by providing new physically based metrics that focus on accurate couplings between subsystems of the climate system. A simplified version of the feedback scheme that describes the dynamics of subtropical high-pressure systems is applied to evaluate how well CMIP5 climate models can simulate atmosphere–ocean–land interactions and resulting feedbacks in the Azores high-pressure system during summer, which affects climate throughout the Atlantic near southern Europe and North Africa

Perceived parenting styles and adjustment during emerging adulthood: a cross-national perspective

    Get PDF
The aim of the present study is to determine whether the influence of parenting style on children’s wellbeing is sustained during emerging adulthood. This is a stage in which young people, despite feeling themselves to be adults, often remain in the family home and continue to be financially dependent on their parents. Moreover, since parents’ beliefs, attitudes and behaviors are constructed and interpreted within their cultural milieu, the study also aims to explore the situation in Spain (SP) and Portugal (PT). Those two Southern Europe countries are representative of what is known as the “family welfare regime”, in which the family acts as the main provider of care and security not only during childhood, but also during emerging adulthood. Thus, the present study examines, from a cross-cultural perspective, the relationship between perceived parenting styles and psychological adjustment among a sample of 1047 emerging adults from Spain and Portugal. The results reveal that the most beneficial styles during this stage are the authoritative and permissive ones, with the authoritarian style being more closely related to psychological distress. The study highlights intercultural similarities and the positive role played by more symmetrical relationships in the adjustment of emerging adults in both countries.Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad EDU2013-45687-RMinisterio de Economía y Competitividad RTI2018-097405-B-I0
