The subject of this research topic is the frameworks and the media representation of the role of women in mass sports events. The case study corresponds to the participation for the first time in the halftime show of the “Super Bowl 2020” of two of the main Latin pop artists: Shakira and Jennifer López. The objective of the study is to characterize the treatment of the event given by the media (both generalist and sports-themed) of the 22 countries that make up Ibero-America together with that on social networks. The assumptions that have guided the research seek to determine whether an objectification of women in the image that is built from the media and on social networks really exists; and whether the frames that occur in both are identical or different. The methodological design includes a content analysis and impact measurement with Big Data technology. The main results and conclusions include the objectification of women in all the generalist media; and 50% in sports-themed media. Similarly, it should be noted that social media reflect the impact of conventional media more than tenfold and most importantly, a change in trend and progress is foreseen in media frameworks with a gender perspective.

An alternative mechanistic paradigm for the β-Z hydrosilylation of terminal alkynes: The role of acetone as a silane shuttle

    Get PDF
The β-Z selectivity in the hydrosilylation of terminal alkynes has been hitherto explained by introduction of isomerisation steps in classical mechanisms. DFT calculations and experimental observations on the system [M(I)2{κ-C,C,O,O-(bis-NHC)}]BF4 (M=Ir (3 a), Rh (3 b); bis-NHC=methylenebis(N-2-methoxyethyl)imidazole-2-ylidene) support a new mechanism, alternative to classical postulations, based on an outer-sphere model. Heterolytic splitting of the silane molecule by the metal centre and acetone (solvent) affords a metal hydride and the oxocarbenium ion [R 3Si - O(CH3)2]+, which reacts with the corresponding alkyne in solution to give the silylation product [R 3Si - CHï£C - R]+. Thus, acetone acts as a silane shuttle by transferring the silyl moiety from the silane to the alkyne. Finally, nucleophilic attack of the hydrido ligand over [R3Si - CHï£C - R]+ affords selectively the β-(Z)- vinylsilane. The β-Z selectivity is explained on the grounds of the steric interaction between the silyl moiety and the ligand system resulting from the geometry of the approach that leads to β-(E)-vinylsilanes. Silanes catch the shuttle: An outer-sphere mechanism that explains the β-Z hydrosilylation of terminal alkynes based on the role of acetone as a silane shuttle is disclosed. Heterolytic splitting of the silane molecule by the metal centre and acetone affords a metal hydride and the oxocarbenium ion [R 3Si - O(CH3)2]+, which reacts with the alkyne in solution to give the silylation product [R3Si - CHï£C - R]+ (see figure). © 2013 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. New [Ir(CH3CN)2(I)2{κC,C′-bis(NHC)}]BF4 complexes featuring bis-NHC ligands with a methylene bridge and different N substitution (−CH2CH2CH2CH3 and −CH2CH2OPh) were synthesized. NMR studies and X-ray diffraction structures evidenced that the wingtip group −CH2CH2OPh presents a hemilabile behavior in solution, with the oxygen atom coordinating and dissociating at room temperature, which contrasts with the strong coordination of the ether functions in the complex [Ir(I)2{κC,C′,O,O′-bis(NHCOMe)}]BF4 (bis(NHCOMe) = methylenebis(N,N′-bis(2-methoxyethyl)imidazol-2-ylidene)), previously reported by us. These complexes proved to be efficient catalysts for the hydrolysis and methanolysis of silanes, affording molecular hydrogen and silyl alcohols or silyl ethers as the main reaction products in excellent yields. The hydrogen generation rates were very much dependent on the nature of the hydrosilane and the coordination ability of the wingtip group. The latter also played a key role in the recyclability of the catalytic system. This work was supported by the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness (MINECO/FEDER) (CONSOLIDER INGENIO CSD2009-0050, CTQ2011-27593 projects, and “Juan de la Cierva” (M.I.) and Ramón y Cajal (P.J.S.M.) programs) and the DGA/FSE-E07. Trabajo presentado a la Annual World Conference on Carbon, celebrada en Dresden (Alemania) del 12 al 17 de julio de 2015.Carbon nanotubes and graphene have been extensively applied as proactive supports to generate heterogeneous catalysts. Both exhibit a carbon structure composed by carbon atoms with sp2 hybridization and both are used in similar applications, as in catalysis. However, the role of each particular substrate, determined by its structural peculiarities, can be differentvshould be studied for each particular catalytic reaction and in their structure. The aim of this work is to study the differences between oxidized carbon nanotubes (CNT) and graphene oxides (GO) as proactive supports of iridium Nheterocyclic carbene (NHC) catalyst. The effect of their inherent structure in the catalytic activity in hydrogen transfer reactions was studied in detail. The authors thank MINECO/MECD (Projects CONSOLIDER INGENIO 2010 CSD2009-00050, CTQ 2010-15221, Ramón y Cajal contract of P. Investigation of the fusion process for B 10 + Au 197 at near-barrier energies

In a previous work, we presented data for the B10+Au197 system, corresponding to quasielastic and elastic scattering, Au197 inelastic excitation, and one neutron pickup transfer, measuring the angular distribution of scattered beam-like ejectiles at several energies around the Coulomb barrier. In this paper, we present data for the fusion process of the same system, at several energies around the Coulomb barrier, as well as new data for one neutron pickup and stripping transfer. In this case, we detected offline γ rays stemming from the β-delayed decay chain of fusion-evaporation residues and heavy transfer products. As in our previous work, we analyzed this data set with coupled reaction channels calculations using the São Paulo potential. We show that the coupling to the one neutron transfer channel is quite important to describe the fusion data at the sub-barrier energy region. We also provide a comparison of the experimental fusion cross sections obtained for B10+Au197 with data for several other systems involving the same target nucleus.Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas (CONICET, Argentina) PIP00786COFondo para la Investigacin Cientfica y Tecnolgica (FONCYT, Argentina) PICT-2017-4088Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de São Paulo (FAPESP, Brazil) 2018/09998-8, 2019/07767-1, 2019/05769-7Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico (CNPq, Brazil) 302160/2018-3, 304056/2019-7Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovación y Universidades PGC2018-096994-B-C2

Air-sea CO2 fluxes in the Atlantic as measured during the FICARAM cruises

A total of fourteen hydrographic cruises spanning from 2000 to 2008 were conducted during the spring and autumn seasons between Spain and the Southern Ocean, under the framework of the Spanish research project FICARAM. The performed underway measurements are processed and analysed to describe the meridional air-sea CO2 fluxes (F CO2) along the Atlantic Ocean. The data was organised into different biogeochemical oceanographic provinces, according mainly to the thermohaline characteristics. The obtained spatial and temporal distributions of F CO2 follow the generally expected patterns and annual trends. The Subtropical regions in both hemispheres alternated the CO2 source and sink nature from autumn to spring, respectively. On the other hand, Tropical waters and the Patagonian Sea clearly behaved as sinks of atmospheric CO2 like the waters of the Drake Passage during autumn. The obtained results during the cruises also revealed significant long-term trends, such as the warming of equatorial waters (0.11±0.03 Cyr−1) and the decrease of surface salinity (−0.16±0.01 yr−1) in tropical waters caused by the influence of the Amazon River plume. This reduction in surface salinity appears to have a direct influence over the CO2 storage rates, fostering the uptake capacity of atmospheric CO2 (−0.09±0.03 molm−2 yr−1). An analysis of the biogeochemical forcing on the CO2 fugacity (fCO2) variability performed from an empirical algorithm highlighted the major role of the Amazon River input in the tropical North Atlantic fluxes. In addition, it has provided a quantitative measure of the importance of the thermodynamic control of F CO2 at temperate latitudes

In vitro Digestibility of Whole Forage Re-Shoots from Two New Sugar Cane Cultivars (Saccharum spp. C97-366 and C99-374).

In vitro digestibility of two new sugar cane cultivars for animal forage was determined. Three runs were made using gas from cattle feces as inoculum. The plant's integral fraction was studied at 6, 8, and 11 months of re-shoot. Forage cultivar My5514 was used as witness. The Ørskov and McDonald´s model (1979), transformed by Correa (2004), was used to determine the parameters. Simple variance analyses were carried out, and the differences between the means for P < 0.05, were determined by Tukey. The results showed that the two new cultivars produced similar in vitro gas volumes, and even higher (8 and 11 months of age) than the My5514 forage cultivar. At 8 months, the new cultivars had the best in vitro gas production values. The values achieved for the in vitro gas production, speed (0.011 h -1-0.033h -1), and gas production potential (32.7 ml-52.1 ml), were high. Moreover, the lag had low values (2.10 h-4.57 h)
