ORPHEU, UMA REVISTA-MANIFESTO

Nas páginas da Orpheu, a revista que hoje mais identifica o Primeiro Modernismo Português, não apareceu um programa nem um manifesto, embora vários fossem contemplados. Estudar este aparente paradoxo e os planos de publicação desses tipo de textos é o intuito deste artigo. Apresentam-se alguns documentos do espólio pessoano datáveis de 1915-1917

A Pessoa Plural celebra o nascimento, há 130 anos, de Fernando Pessoa – no dia 13 de Junho de 1888 – apresentando 13 contributos, alongando assim as 5000 e tantas páginas que já dedicou a Fernando Pessoa. Este número, o 13 da Pessoa Plural, abre com o triplo poema dos «santos lisboetas de Junho» (como lhes chama Pessoa, riscando a primeira redação de «santos populares»), apresentado por José Barreto. Este «13» da Plural prolonga em parte o número 12, publicado em Dezembro e dedicado ao arquivo do arquiteto Fernando Távora – mas agora convocando também o espólio de Alberto Serpa, outro grande colecionador do norte de Portugal. Neste número merecem menção a apresentação dos escritos sobre literatura policial de Pessoa e um ensaio sobre Pessoa e Walter Benjamin. New Unpublished Poems and Documents : the Serpa literary estate

Alberto de Serpa foi um extraordinário colecionador. Ao longo da vida juntou um considerável espólio, um «arquivo pessoal», como lhe chamou, entre cartas recebidas e cartas de terceiros, manuscritos raros, fotografias, provas tipográficas e muitos outros documentos. À guarda da Biblioteca Pública Municipal do Porto ficou grande parte do seu espólio, contabilizando cerca de 5884 documentos, adquiridos em leilão no ano de 1988. Entre os milhares de documentos contam-se onze autógrafos de Fernando Pessoa, além de um breve recorte assinado por Álvaro de Campos, enviado por António Botto a Serpa como um gesto de amizade. Pretendemos descrever este pequeno núcleo de documentos pessoanos que Alberto de Serpa «deixou ficar» no seu imenso espólio. A partir do testemunho de cartas de vários contemporâneos como Luís de Montalvor, Branquinho da Fonseca, João Gaspar Simões, Silva Tavares, entre outros, percebe-se o interesse de Alberto de Serpa em adquirir autógrafos de Fernando Pessoa antes mesmo de a obra do poeta lisboeta começar a ser publicada. Muitas outras cartas de tantos outros correspondentes fazem referência a Pessoa, revelando pormenores interessantes sobre o Poeta.Alberto de Serpa was an extraordinary collector. During his lifetime he put together a considerable estate, a “personal archive” as he called it, made of letters, rare manuscripts, photographs, typographical proofs and many other documents. The Municipal Public Library of Oporto (Biblioteca Pública Municipal do Porto) keeps some 5884 documents of his archive, which were acquired in a 1988 auction. Among the thousands of documents one may find eleven autographs of Fernando Pessoa, besides an extra paper cutting signed by Álvaro de Campos, sent by António Botto to Serpa as a token of friendship. We intend to describe these few documents that Serpa “simply left there” in his great archive. Considering several letters written by several contemporaries, such as Luís de Montalvor, Branquinho da Fonseca, João Gaspar Simões, Silva Tavares, among others, it becomes evident that Serpa was interested in acquiring autographs of Fernando Pessoa even before the work of the famous Lisbon poet started to be published. The infinite estate: On the new acquisitions, 390 to 829

O espólio de Fernando Pessoa tem sido, desde a sua aquisição pelo Estado português, em 1979, um núcleo fundamental da cultura em língua portuguesa. Esse manancial, que esteve na génese das sucessivas edições da obra do poeta depois dos trabalhos pioneiros de chancelas como a Ática e a Aguilar, conheceram extensões relevantes desde 2008. Foi nesse ano que foram adquiridos pelo Estado português alguns documentos incluídos pelos sobrinhos de Pessoa, no quadro de um polémico leilão. Em 2020, um novo conjunto de autógrafos foi adquirido pela Biblioteca Nacional de Portugal através de um ajuste directo com os herdeiros de Pessoa, só recentemente disponibilizados para consulta na Sala dos Reservados da BNP. Este artigo conjuga uma descrição sumária do processo de novas aquisições, com a apresentação de um conjunto seleccionado de documentos, alguns dos quais inéditos, a que se somam alguns materiais que em 2008 foram digitalizados por uma equipa de investigadores que trabalharam em casa dos herdeiros de Pessoa e que não constam nem do conjunto leiloado em 2008, nem dos documentos adquiridos em 2020.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

Proposta de plano de gestão de resíduos sólidos urbanos para o município do Rio de Janeiro

O desenvolvimento sócio-econômico e o aumento de consumo de bens e serviços têm contribuído para mudança de hábitos, problemas ambientais e de saúde pública e na geração desenfreada de resíduos sólidos. No Município do Rio de Janeiro existem obstáculos sociais, econômicos, institucionais e políticos que contribuem para a gravidade desses impactos. O gestor dos resíduos sólidos urbanos deste município é a COMLURB. Embora esta realize mudanças no seu plano de gestão visando melhorar a qualidade do serviço de limpeza urbana, enfrenta alguns desafios com relação à contribuição da população, aos elevados custos com a limpeza urbana e a espera por novas formas de destinação final ambientalmente adequada. O projeto tem como finalidade analisar as etapas relacionadas à gestão dos resíduos sólidos domiciliares do Município do Rio de Janeiro, mediante críticas e sugestões de melhorias, baseadas nas premissas do Plano Nacional de Resíduo Sólido. Com a conscientização da população, a realização de um programa de coleta seletiva eficiente e o engajamento político pode-se diminuir o quadro negativo de geração de resíduos e estimular programas de reutilização e/ou reciclagem de resíduos e com isso garantir melhorias para o meio ambiente e para as futuras gerações, tornando assim o meio ambiente sustentável

Extracellular Vesicles Released by Leishmania (Leishmania) amazonensis Promote Disease Progression and Induce the Production of Different Cytokines in Macrophages and B-1 Cells

The extracellular vesicles (EVs) released by Leishmania can contribute to the establishment of infection and host immunomodulation. In this study, we characterized the shedding of EVs from Leishmania (Leishmania) amazonensis promastigotes. This species is the causative agent of cutaneous leishmaniasis, and its role during interactions with bone marrow-derived macrophages (BMDMs) and peritoneal B-1 cells was evaluated. Leishmania amazonensis promastigotes cultivated in vitro at different times and temperatures spontaneously released EVs. EVs were purified using size-exclusion chromatography (SEC) and quantitated by nanoparticle tracking analysis (NTA). NTA revealed that the average size of the EVs was approximately 180 nm, with concentrations ranging from 1.8 × 108 to 2.4 × 109 vesicles/mL. In addition, the presence of LPG and GP63 were detected in EVs obtained at different temperatures. Naïve BMDMs stimulated with EVs exhibited increased IL-10 and IL-6 expression. However, incubating B-1 cells with parasite EVs did not stimulate IL-10 expression but led to an increase in the expression of IL-6 and TNFα. After 7 weeks post-infection, animals infected with L. amazonensis promastigotes in the presence of parasite EVs had significant higher parasite load and a polarization to Th2 response, as compared to the group infected with the parasite alone. This work demonstrated that EVs isolated from L. amazonensis promastigotes were able to stimulate macrophages and B-1 cells to express different types of cytokines. Moreover, the immunomodulatory properties of EVs probably contributed to an increase in parasite burden in mice. These findings suggest that the functionality of L. amazonensis EVs on immune system favor of parasite survival and disease progression

Rationale, study design, and analysis plan of the Alveolar Recruitment for ARDS Trial (ART): Study protocol for a randomized controlled trial

Background: Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) is associated with high in-hospital mortality. Alveolar recruitment followed by ventilation at optimal titrated PEEP may reduce ventilator-induced lung injury and improve oxygenation in patients with ARDS, but the effects on mortality and other clinical outcomes remain unknown. This article reports the rationale, study design, and analysis plan of the Alveolar Recruitment for ARDS Trial (ART). Methods/Design: ART is a pragmatic, multicenter, randomized (concealed), controlled trial, which aims to determine if maximum stepwise alveolar recruitment associated with PEEP titration is able to increase 28-day survival in patients with ARDS compared to conventional treatment (ARDSNet strategy). We will enroll adult patients with ARDS of less than 72 h duration. The intervention group will receive an alveolar recruitment maneuver, with stepwise increases of PEEP achieving 45 cmH(2)O and peak pressure of 60 cmH2O, followed by ventilation with optimal PEEP titrated according to the static compliance of the respiratory system. In the control group, mechanical ventilation will follow a conventional protocol (ARDSNet). In both groups, we will use controlled volume mode with low tidal volumes (4 to 6 mL/kg of predicted body weight) and targeting plateau pressure <= 30 cmH2O. The primary outcome is 28-day survival, and the secondary outcomes are: length of ICU stay; length of hospital stay; pneumothorax requiring chest tube during first 7 days; barotrauma during first 7 days; mechanical ventilation-free days from days 1 to 28; ICU, in-hospital, and 6-month survival. ART is an event-guided trial planned to last until 520 events (deaths within 28 days) are observed. These events allow detection of a hazard ratio of 0.75, with 90% power and two-tailed type I error of 5%. All analysis will follow the intention-to-treat principle. Discussion: If the ART strategy with maximum recruitment and PEEP titration improves 28-day survival, this will represent a notable advance to the care of ARDS patients. Books, objects, manuscripts, and photographs : donation and sale

De forma necessariamente subjectiva, este artigo apresenta um panorama geral do actual estado do espólio do poeta português Fernando Pessoa (1888-1935). Declarado como Tesouro Nacional em 15 de Setembro de 2009, os seus documentos encontram-se à guarda da Biblioteca Nacional de Portugal, Espólio 3, e da Casa Fernando Pessoa, em Lisboa. Mas antes desta declaração e, desde então, diversos manuscritos, livros, fotografias, assim como, outros objectos, continuam a vir a conhecimento público a partir de doações de particulares, a ser localizados em coleções particulares e a surgir em diversos leilões, nacionais e internacionais. Tendo em consideração que um certo grau de incompletude é, porventura, inerente a qualquer colecção, o presente artigo propõe inventariar os acontecimentos mais significativos dos últimos quatro anos, e sublinha a necessidade de criação de meios legais para prevenir maior dispersão dos documentos de modo a conferir ao espólio do autor a valorização há muito merecida.In a necessarily subjective way, this paper aims to present an overview of the present situation of the Estate of the Portuguese poet Fernando Pessoa. Declared as National Treasure on the 15th of September 2009, it is mainly held at the Portuguese National Library, Estate 3, and at the Casa Fernando Pessoa, in Lisbon. But prior to this declaration and since then, several of Pessoa’s manuscripts, books, photos, and other objects, continue to come to public knowledge from private donations, and have also been located in private collections, as well as in a number of auctions. Pessoa’s Ultimatum: A Manifesto for a New Civilization

An outline of Pessoa’s evolving political positions in the tumultuous years surrounding the publication of “Ultimatum” will help to situate the manifesto’s staunchly anti-democratic politics. A summary of the manifesto’s structure and themes, a brief comparison with similar texts, and a sketch of Pessoa’s messianic nationalism will further elucidate this challenging text. Finally, a new translation of “Ultimatum”, provided in an annex, will make this key text in European avantgarde and modernism studies available to a wider audience
