Pollen- and Non Pollen Palynomorphs- Analyses from Svalbard

    Get PDF
We analysed fifteen samples of a shallow profile “Sverrefjellet Volcano “, located in the NW part of Svalbard – Bockfjord region (see Fig.1). Frequency of pollen grains, spores and NPP (Non Pollen Palynomorphs) was quite low. Only the local taxa (e.g. Salix and Cyperaceae) produced pollen in greater abundance. The pollen spectrum was considerably varied, although pollen grains and spores of most taxa were present in low abundances. This was due to low pollen and spores productivity of the Arctic flora, which propagates mostly in a vegetative way. To obtain as much information from the profile under study as possible, we analysed the non- pollen palynomorphs as well. We succeeded above all in determination of eggs, buccal tubes and claws of the Tardigrada phylum (Jankovská 1991). The determination has been recently verified by specialists in the field, prof. L. Kaczmarek and dr. M. Roszkowska (in Jankovská et al. 2016). The results of the pollen- and NPP analysis are presented in pollen- and NPP diagram, which represents a picture of the species-poor Arctic flora

THE MIDDLE AGES IN POLLEN-ANALYTICAL RESEARCH ON THE TERRITORY OF THE CZECH REPUBLIC

An orientation survey of mostly the author’s own results of pollen analyses of medieval sediments from archaeological sites in the Czech Republic is presented. The aim of the several-year-long cooperation with archaeologists was to find out whether, and to what extent, the results of pollen analysis are able to specify more exactly the outcomes of archaeological research. Existing pollen-analytical results confirmed their potential to contribute to interdisciplinary archaeological-archaeobotanical research. From a pollen-analytical perspective it was possible to distinguish early medieval material from high medieval material, particularly in the area of larger medieval towns. Selected finds of palynomorphs (pollen grains, spores and Non-Pollen-Palynomorphs) are mentioned in more detail in the chapters “Botany and pharmacy”, “Hygiene and social situation”, “Problems of the age, function and/or disappearance of some archaeological features and situations” and “Pollen analysis and history”

This bachelor thesis examines how much selected Czech media have focused on Dutch culture in the period 1.9.2007-1.9.2012. The theoretical part describes the chosen method for realization of the research, defines both the main and the subsidiary experimental question and specifies the hypothesis. Furthermore it introduces selected Czech printed media and defines the terms culture and Dutch culture for use of this bachelor thesis. The theoretical part also offers an overview of the Dutch culture presented in certain publications which are avaiable in the Czech Republic. The practical part contains graphs demonstrating the results of the research and answers the experimental questions. These are summed up in the conclusion of this thesis where you can also find the comparison between the media research results and the image of the Dutch culture presented in the publications mentioned in the theoretical part. The aim of this bachelor thesis is to explore how Dutch culture is presented in the Czech media and figure out which cultural issues are the most favoured.Institute of Germanic StudiesÚstav germánských studiíFaculty of ArtsFilozofická fakult

This thesis deals with the issue of teacher authority from the perspective of lower secondary school students. The aim of this work was to find out what characteristics in the eyes of the students determine the level of teacher authority and which ones weaken it. At the same time, the aim was to find out how students imagine an ideal teacher. The theoretical section includes chapters on authority, authority in education, teacher authority, and the contemporary perceptions of authority. The practical section of the thesis consists of a comparison of three primary schools and their students' perceptions of teacher authority. It includes information gathered from interviews with the headmasters of the schools, as well as an analysis of a questionnaire survey conducted among their pupils. Key words: authority, upbringing, education, school, teacher, student, teacher authorityTato práce se zabývá problematikou autority učitele z pohledu žáků 2. stupně základní školy. Cílem této práce bylo zjistit, jaké charakteristiky v očích žáků rozhodují o míře autority učitele a jaké autoritu učitele naopak oslabují.

    Get PDF
Komentáře těchto pasáží se zaměřují na jednotlivá tvrzení o genderu, formulují, jaké povinnosti a omezení tyto diskurzy kladou na lidský subjekt, a předkládají, s jakými následky by se potýkali ti, kteří by se těmto...in English This thesis focuses on the construct of gender in the modernist novel Eva by the Dutch authoress Carry van Bruggen in relation to the individual human subject. The goal of this thesis is to analyse how is gender constructed in the book and how this construct influences the psychic development and decision making of the main character, a woman named Eva. The answer to the main research question What role does the construct of gender play in the life of the main character of the novel Eva? was reached with the help of the discourse analysis, namely the post-structuralist discourse analysis using the deconstructive reading. The thesis is at the same time theoretically anchored in the post-structuralist feminist literary criticism. The theoretical part therefore draws on the ideas of Jacques Derrida, Michel Foucault, Judith Baxter and Judith Butler. As an inspiration for the discourse analysis itself served the discourse analysis dealing with the gender identity that was carried out by Kateřina Zábrodská in 2009. The first step in the analysis stage was to identify the relevant passages of the novel that inform what does it mean to be a man or a woman. The comments on these passages focus on the individual claims about gender, they formulate what kind of duties and limits these discourses...Institute of Germanic StudiesÚstav germánských studiíFilozofická fakultaFaculty of Art

Red fox, Vulpes vulpes L., as a bioindicator of environmental pollution in the countryside of Czech Republic

    Get PDF
The objective of this study is to determine the accumulation of heavy metals in the tissues of the small intestines of red foxes from 4 different areas of the northern part of the Czech Republic. The red foxes were relocated from countryside and free nature to the neighborhood of big cities in the last two decades, so it could be great indicator of pollution in these four different areas, with the focus on countryside problems with pollution of heavy metals. The heavy metal (Cd, Pb, Cr, Cu, Zn, Mn, Ni) concentrations in 27 samples and the relationships between heavy metal concentration in red fox tissue and the location of sample were investigated. The highest concentrations of Pb (0.684 mg.kg-1), Cr (0.162 mg.kg-1), Ni (0.235 mg.kg-1) and Zn (19.76 mg.kg-1 ) were found in tissues from mountain areas. The highest concentrations of Cd (0.047 mg.kg-1), Cu (1.474 mg.kg-1) and Mn (2.025 mg.kg-1) were measured in tissues from industrial agglomeration around the city Hradec Králové. Pb and Cr concentrations in tissues of red foxes from two areas (environs of the city Krasna Lipa and Hradec Kralove) exceeded the permissible food consumption limits.O

NOVÉ ODKRYVY KVARTÉRNÍCH SEDIMENTŮ NA STARÉM BRNĚ

During the construction and salvage works in the area of the Staré Brno, two interesting localities were exposed. In the case of the Hybešova locality sediments of the Svratka flood plain were exposed. The presence of these sediments evidences the reach of the innundation of the Svratka River to the area of the Staré Brno. The second locality is called Jircháře. Sedimentation in a small reservoir near the Svratka River can be presumed based on palynology and study of the heavy transparent mineral fraction. Hillsides above this locality were covered by plant and wood vegetation. A marked anthropogenic influence during sedimentation can be observed. The composition of pollen spectra evidences the Late Medieval Age to modern age of the studied sediments. This environment was not directly related to fluvial activity of the Svratka River and was not supplied by its sediments
