Description of immature stages of cleptoparasitic bees Epeoloides coecutiens and Leiopodus trochantericus (Hymenoptera: Apidae: Osirini, Protepeolini) with remarks to their unusual biology

This study presents descriptions of first instars and mature larvae of cleptoparasitic bees Epeoloides coecutiens (host Macropis fulvipes) and Leiopodus trochantericus (host Diadasina sp.). Larvae of the genus Epeoloides are described for the first time. The larva of Epeoloides is similar to other osirine species, but also possesses several characters previously known as autapomorphies of the genus Leiopodus. The unusually short stadium of the first instar and kiling behaviour of the second instar in E. coecutiens are recorded. The first instar of L. trochantericus is quiescent for a long time and kills the late second or third instar of the host

The apid cuckoo bees of the Cape Verde Islands (Hymenoptera, Apidae)

The apid cuckoo bees of the Cape Verde Islands (Republic of Cape Verde) are reviewed and five species recognized, representing two genera. The ammobatine genus Chiasmognathus Engel (Nomadinae: Ammobatini), a specialized lineage of cleptoparasites of nomioidine bees is recorded for the first time. Chiasmognathus batelkai sp. n. is distinguished from mainland African and Asian species. The genus Thyreus Panzer (Apinae: Melectini) is represented by four species – Thyreus denolii sp. n., Thyreus batelkai sp. n., Thyreus schwarzi sp. n., and Thyreus aistleitneri sp. n. Strepsiptera of Canada

In Canada, the order Strepsiptera consists of 27 known species representing five families: Corioxenidae (1 species), Elenchidae (1 species), Halictophagidae (5 species), Stylopidae (15 species), and Xenidae (5 species). These totals represent an increase of 21 species since the 1979 assessment. Half of these species represent unpublished records recently discovered by study of stylopized hosts in museum collections and DNA barcoded species. It is estimated that as many as 19 more species will eventually be discovered in Canada. DNA barcode sequences are available for 4 Canadian species. The fauna of Canada is poorly surveyed and there is a need to fill knowledge gaps with increased examination of museum specimens for stylopized hosts, broader field surveys (including use of pheromone-baited traps), and more effort to obtain DNA samples

Automatic Human Pose Estimation using Neural Network

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá odhadem pózy člověka pomocí neuronových sítí. V první části jsou popsány metody založené na konvolučních neuronových sítích a metody založené na architektuře transformeru, které byli úspěšně použity k řešení tohoto problému. V druhé části je zvolen model, který byl původně navžen pro řešení úlohy odhadu pózy ruky. Dále jsou popsány úpravy tohoto modelu, tak aby byl vhodný pro úlohu odhadu pózy člověka. Výsledkem úprav jsou dvě varianty modelu, které jsou následně trénovány na datasetu COCO. Nakonec jsou výsledky natrénovaných modelů porovnány s některými z modelů představených v první části.ObhájenoThis thesis addresses human pose estimation using neural networks. The first part describes methods based on convolutional neural networks and methods based on transformer architecture, which have been successfully used to solve this problem. In the second part, a model is chosen that was originally designed to solve the problem of hand pose estimation. Next are described modifications of this model so that it is suitable for the task of human pose estimation. The result of the modifications are two variants of the model, which are then trained on the COCO dataset. Finally, the results of the trained models are compared with some of the models presented in the first part

Comparative analysis of working age population mortality in selected developed countries Abstract The main aim of this thesis was to analyze trends in mortality situation of working-age population (20-64 years old) in 31 developed countries in period 1995-2010 and to find similarities and differences between them. Temporary life expectancy was used as an indicator which summarizes the intensity of mortality in productive age. One-dimensional and two-dimensional decomposition revealed the contributions of individual age groups and selected nine major groups causes of death defined by ICD to the difference in temporary life expectancy values between 1995 and 2010 in five selected countries. An analysis of the development of this indicator has shown that there has been a prolongation of life span in working age in all surveyed countries and differences in mortality rates between countries decreased. Major cause of this trend was probably reduction of the mortality rate in the middle-aged population, mainly of external causes, in the 20-54 age group in countries with lower life expectancy rates. However, to verify this hypothesis, it would be necessary to analyze other developed countries with a higher level of mortality in working age population than Bulgaria and Lithuania. Countries with higher temporary life...Srovnávací analýza úmrtnosti obyvatel v produktivním věku ve vybraných vyspělých zemích Abstrakt Hlavním cílem této práce bylo zanalyzovat vývojové trendy úmrtnostních poměrů produktivního obyvatelstva ve věku 20-64 dokončených let ve 31 vyspělých zemích světa v období 1995-2010 a nalézt a popsat případné podobnosti a rozdílnosti mezi nimi. K tomu byl použit ukazatel intervalové naděje dožití, který souhrnně popisuje intenzitu úmrtnosti v produktivním věku. Pomocí jednorozměrné a dvojrozměrné dekompozice pak byly zjištěny příspěvky jednotlivých věkových skupin a vybraných devíti hlavních skupin příčin úmrtí MKN k rozdílu hodnot intervalové naděje dožití mezi roky 1995 a 2010 v detailněji zkoumaných pěti zemích. Prostřednictvím analýzy vývoje tohoto ukazatele bylo zjištěno, že docházelo k prodlužování průměrné délky života obyvatelstva v produktivním věku ve všech vybraných zemích pro obě pohlaví a rozdíly v intenzitě úmrtnosti se mezi zeměmi snížily. Na tento trend v úrovni úmrtnosti v produktivním věku mezi vyspělými zeměmi hrála pravděpodobně hlavní roli redukce intenzity úmrtnosti obyvatelstva středního věku, především na vnější příčiny ve věkovém intervalu 20-54 let v zemích s nižší hodnotou intervalové naděje dožití. Evaluation of porosity in Al-alloy die-castings

Cílem této diplomové práce je hodnocení porezity u tlakově litých odlitků, popřípadě míst s lokálním dotlačováním v závislosti na mechanických a strukturních vlastnostech. Vzorky ze slitiny AlSi9Cu3 byly odebrány z bloku motoru vyrobeného v podniku Škoda Auto, a.s. Mladá Boleslav. K vyhodnocení a porovnání výsledků byla použita včetně vlastních dat porezity i data z předchozích diplomových prací Vysokého učení technického v Brně. Soubory dat mechanických a strukturních vlastností byly roztříděny, studovány a podrobeny testům na odhalení statistických chyb.The purpose of this diploma thesis is an evaluation of die-castings porosity, eventually the evaluation of seats with local squeeze in connection with their mechanical and structural properties. The swatches of alloy AISi9Cu3 were taken from the engine block made by Škoda Auto Company, Mladá Boleslav. To the evaluation and the comparison of the results there were used value of porosity with own measure and other student´s thesis of Brno University of technology. Sets of mechanical and structural properties were selected, evaluated and tested by statistical programs.

Comparison of different casting technologies from the point of view of achieving the optimal casting dimensional accuracy

Tato bakalářská práce si klade za úkol shromáždit informace o technologiích používaných při výrobě odlitků z hlediska dosažení co nejlepších rozměrových přesností. Zaměřena je především na technologii vytavitelného modelu, tlakové lití a odstředivé lití. Všechny tyto a další technologie jsou porovnány navíc kromě již zmíněné rozměrové přesnosti i z hlediska ekonomiky výroby, možností dosahovaných rozsahů hmotností odlitků a dalších aspektů.The main goal of this bachelor thesis is to collect basic information related to the foundry technologies from the point of view of achieving the optimum dimensional tolerances. Following foundry technologies are mentioned in this work, i.e. investment casting, pressure die casting and centrifugal casting. All the above mentioned technologies are compared not only from the accuracy point of view but also from the economy of production, achievable casting weight, etc.

Legal aspects of alternative fuels' use in transport

Právní aspekty využívání alternativních paliv v dopravě Abstrakt Co spojuje solární energii, palmový olej a výstavbu plynovodu Nord Stream 2? Všechna tato témata mají jednoho společného jmenovatele, a tím jsou alternativní paliva. Tato skupina paliv, mezi jejíž zástupce řadíme elektřinu, vodík, nebo třeba biometan, má ambici nahradit fosilní paliva a snížit negativní environmentální projevy sektorů ekonomiky, kde jsou fosilní paliva využívána - v dopravě a energetice. Tato diplomová práce se zaměřuje na sektor dopravy a sleduje celkem dvě linie. V první části tato práce na příkladech biopaliv, zemního plynu a elektřiny zkoumá, zda a v jaké míře alternativní paliva naplňují smysl alternativy ve vztahu k pohonným hmotám založeným na ropě. Jako hledisko je používán princip energetické bezpečnosti a princip udržitelného rozvoje v jeho aspektu environmentálním a ekonomickém. All these topics have one common denominator, i.e. alternative fuels. This group of fuels, which is represented by electricity, hydrogen or biomethane, has the ambition to replace fossil fuels and reduce the negative environmental effects of the sectors of the economy where fossil fuels are used - in transport and energy. This thesis focuses on the transport sector and pursues two lines. The first part of the text examines, by using the example of biofuels, natural gas and electricity, whether and to what extent alternative fuels fulfill the purpose of the alternative in relation to oil-based fuels. The principle of energy security and the principle of sustainable development in its environmental and economic aspects are used as a benchmark. In the second part, this thesis pays attention to legal instruments that determine the future of alternative fuels.
