    Analysis of Stator/Rotor Pole Combinations in Variable Flux Reluctance Machines Using Magnetic Gearing Effect

    The torque production of variable flux reluctance machines (VFRMs) is explained by the “magnetic gearing effect” in recent research. Based on this theory, this paper concludes the general principles for feasible stator/rotor pole selection and corresponding winding configuration for VFRMs. The influence of stator/rotor pole combination on torque performance is comprehensively investigated not only in terms of average torque and torque ripple, but also in terms of each single torque component. It is found that the synchronous torque is proportional to the fundamental rotor radial permeance component and has the dominant contribution in average torque for all the VFRMs. The stator slot number and rotor pole number should be close to each other to achieve the highest output torque. Meanwhile, the 6-stator-slot/(6i ± 2)-rotor-pole (6s/(6i ± 2)r) and their multiples are large torque ripple origins for VFRMs due to the large reluctance torque ripple. Also, it is proved that a lower stator slot number is preferable choice to obtain higher torque/copper loss ratio, whereas a higher stator slot number is more suitable for large machine scale scenario. Finally, the analyses and conclusions are verified by finite element analysis on the 6-, 12-, 18-, and 24-stator-slot VFRMs and by experimental tests on a 6s/7r and 6s/8r VFRMs

    Naringin supplementation affects performance, carcass traits, meat quality and oxidative stability of finishing pigs

    Naringin is a major flavanone derivate that has many important biological functions in animals. However, its effect on pigs is unknown. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of naringin supplementation on performance, carcass traits, meat quality and oxidative stability in finishing pigs. Ninety-six pigs, with an average initial body weight of 66.2 ± 0.63 kg, were randomly divided into four groups. One group was fed a basal diet without supplementation (control), and the three others were fed diets supplemented with 0.5, 1.0 or 1.5 g naringin /kg DM of feed for 50 days. Each treatment was replicated six times with four pigs per replicate. Feed and water were available ad libitum. The 0.5 g/kg naringin treatment group had an improved loin eye muscle area, reduced serum triglycerides and were leaner compared with the other groups. Pigs in the 1.5 g/kg naringin treatment had higher pH45min values and inosine monophosphate concentrations, and lower MyHC IIb mRNA expression in muscle than the other groups. MyHC IIa mRNA expression was significantly up-regulated in all naringin-supplemented diet groups. Naringin significantly increased superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity and total anti-oxidative capacity in meat, as well as SOD and glutathione peroxidase activity in the liver. These results indicate that the dietary addition of naringin at 0.5 g/kg improved carcass characteristics, while 1.5 g/kg improved the oxidative stability and pork quality in finishing pigs.     Comparative Analysis of Variable Flux Reluctance Machines With Double- and Single-Layer Concentrated Armature Windings

    In this paper, the variable flux reluctance machines (VFRMs) with double- and single-layer concentrated armature windings are comparatively analyzed. First, the single-layer winding is found to have an identical winding factor as a double-layer winding, but significantly larger peak value of magneto-motive force, which will result in severe local saturation in cores of VFRMs with single-layer winding. Then, based on the magnetic gearing effect and finite-element analysis, the electromagnetic performances of VFRMs with both winding types are compared. The VFRMs with single-layer winding are proved to be always lower in average torque, higher in torque ripple, larger in iron loss, and lower in efficiency than those with double-layer winding. Nevertheless, better fault-tolerance capability is achieved for a single-layer winding due to its physical separation between phases and larger phase self-inductance. Overall, the double-layer armature winding is the preferable choice for the VFRMs. Finally, a 6-stator-slot/4-rotor-pole VFRM with both double- and single-layer windings is prototyped for verification

    The study reports some preliminary investigations on the template free synthesis of ascantlyinvestigated polyaniline (PANI) derivative—poly (1-naphthylamine) (PNA) by template free method in presence as well as absence of hydrochloric acid (HCl) (dopant), using ferric chloride as oxidant. The polymerization was carried out in alcoholic medium. Polymerization of 1-naphthylamine (NPA) was confirmed by the FT-IR as well as UV–visible studies. The morphology and size of PNA particles was strongly influenced by the presence and absence of acid which was confirmed by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) studies

    Rotor shaping method for torque ripple mitigation in variable flux reluctance machines

    In this paper, four rotor shaping methods, i.e., eccentric circular, inverse cosine, inverse cosine with third harmonic, and multi-step shaping methods, are developed and compared for torque ripple mitigation in variable flux reluctance machines (VFRMs). By using a 6-stator-pole/7-rotor-pole (6/7) VFRM as an example, the design criterions and capabilities of these four methods are illustrated. It is found that all the rotor shaping methods are capable of torque ripple mitigation and applicable to all the VFRMs except those with 6 k /(6 i ± 2) k ( k , i = 1, 2, 3
) stator/rotor pole combinations. Moreover, the inverse cosine with third harmonic and multi-step shaping methods are found to have the best performance. They are able to reduce the torque ripple by 90% at a cost of only 3% torque density reduction. A 6/7 VFRM with both conventional and shaped rotors is prototyped and tested for verification

    Hot air drying characteristics and nutrients of apricot armeniaca vulgaris lam pretreated with Radio Frequency(RF)

    [EN] Apricot pretreated with RF and then dried with convective hot air at 65℃, 3.0m/s in this research. RF pretreatment time of 20, 30, 40 and 50min were chosen. Results showed that, there is only falling rate period during apricot hot air drying, and the drying rate of apricot is improved significantly; Herdenson and Pabis model is suitable for apricot hot air drying; retentions of flavonoids, polyphenols and Vc in dried apricot were higher than those of fresh apricot; when RF treating time was chosen 30mins, nutrients retentions of Vc, flavonoid and polyphenols were 0.9543mg/100g, 5.4089mg/100g and 7.3382mg/100g, separately.The work was financially supported by the Fundamental Research Funds for the Central Universities of China (NO.     Three-Particle Correlations from Parton Cascades in Au+Au Collisions

    We present a study of three-particle correlations among a trigger particle and two associated particles in Au + Au collisions at sNN\sqrt{s_{NN}} = 200 GeV using a multi-phase transport model (AMPT) with both partonic and hadronic interactions. We found that three-particle correlation densities in different angular directions with respect to the triggered particle (`center', `cone', `deflected', `near' and `near-away') increase with the number of participants. The ratio of `deflected' to `cone' density approaches to 1.0 with the increasing of number of participants, which indicates that partonic Mach-like shock waves can be produced by strong parton cascades in central Au+Au collisions.Comment: 9 pages, 6 figures; Final version to appear in Physics Letters

    Di-hadron azimuthal correlation and Mach-like cone structure in parton/hadron transport model

    In the framework of a multi-phase transport model (AMPT) with both partonic and hadronic interactions, azimuthal correlations between trigger particles and associated scattering particles have been studied by the mixing-event technique. The momentum ranges of these particles are 3<pTtrig<63< p^{trig}_T< 6 GeV/cc and 0.15<pTassoc<30.15< p_{T}^{assoc} < 3 GeV/cc (soft), or 2.5<pTtrig<2.5<p^{trig}_T< 4 GeV/cc and 1<pTassoc<2.51< p_{T}^{assoc} < 2.5 GeV/cc (hard) in Au + Au collisions at sNN\sqrt{s_{NN}} = 200 GeV. A Mach-like structure has been observed in correlation functions for central collisions. By comparing scenarios with and without parton cascade and hadronic rescattering, we show that both partonic and hadronic dynamical mechanisms contribute to the Mach-like structure of the associated particle azimuthal correlations. The contribution of hadronic dynamical process can not be ignored in the emergence of Mach-like correlations of the soft scattered associated hadrons. However, hadronic rescattering alone cannot reproduce experimental amplitude of Mach-like cone on away-side, and the parton cascade process is essential to describe experimental amplitude of Mach-like cone on away-side. In addition, both the associated multiplicity and the sum of pTp_{T} decrease, whileas the increases, with the impact parameter in the AMPT model including partonic dynamics from string melting scenario.Comment: 9 pages, 5 figures; Physics Letters B 641, 362-367 (2006
