Effect of induced epilepsy on some biochemical parameters in female rats
The activity of cholinesterase and some biochemical parameters of blood such as glucose, cholesterol and phospholipids were estimated in 52 epilepsy induced females of Wister albino rats. Animals of this experiment were divided into two groups, group (I) regarded as control and group (II) administrated subcutaneously by pentylenetetrazole 100mg/kg and divided in to three sub-groups according to the time of samples collection 3 hrs, 24 hrs and 1 week. The results revealed that epilepsy induction caused a significant inhibition of serum cholinesterase activity 3 hrs after induction while in the brain, the activity of cholinesterase was significantly increased after 24 hrs Serum glucose level was significantly elevated after 3 hrs and 24 hrs of induction, total cholesterol and phospholipids were not changed. From the results obtained in this study, it can be concluded that epilepsy caused significant changes in cholinesterase activity in brain and serum in addition to the glucose level in the serum
Entanglement of a Single Spin-1 Object: An Example of Ubiquitous Entanglement
Using a single spin-1 object as an example, we discuss a recent approach to
quantum entanglement. The key idea of the approach consists in presetting of
basic observables in the very definition of quantum system. Specification of
basic observables defines the dynamic symmetry of the system. Entangled states
of the system are then interpreted as states with maximal amount of uncertainty
of all basic observables. The approach gives purely physical picture of
entanglement. In particular, it separates principle physical properties of
entanglement from inessential. Within the model example under consideration, we
show relativity of entanglement with respect to dynamic symmetry and argue
existence of single-particle entanglement. A number of physical examples are
considered.Comment: 12 pages, 2 figure : title has been changed, paper is re-organized,

Lattice Study of the Massive Schwinger Model with a term under L\"uscher's "Admissibility" condition
We present a numerical study of the massive two-flavor QED in two dimensions
with the gauge action proposed by L\"uscher, which allows only ``admissible''
gauge fields. We find that the admissibility condition does not allow any
topology changes by the local updation in Hybrid Monte Carlo algorithm so that
the configurations in each topological sector can be generated separately. By
developing a new method to sum over different topological sectors, we
investigate vacuum effects. Combining with domain-wall fermion action,
we obtain the fermion mass dependence and dependence of the meson
masses, which are consistent with the analytic results by mass perturbation in
the continuum theory.Comment: 3 pages, Lattice2003(chiral
Persistent Spin Currents in Helimagnets
We demonstrate that weak external magnetic fields generate dissipationless
spin currents in the ground state of systems with spiral magnetic order. Our
conclusions are based on phenomenological considerations and on microscopic
mean-field theory calculations for an illustrative toy model. We speculate on
possible applications of this effect in spintronic devices.Comment: 9 pages, 6 figures, updated version as published, Journal referenc
Nonanticommutative Deformation of N=4 SYM Theory: The Myers Effect and Vacuum States
We propose a deformation of SYM theoery induced by
nonanticommutative star product. The deformation introduces new bosonic terms
which we identify with the corresponding Myers terms of a stack of D3-branes in
the presence of a five-form RR flux. We take this as an indication that the
deformed lagrangian describes D3-branes in such a background. The vacuum states
of the theory are also examined. In a specific case where the U(1) part of the
gauge field is nonvanishing the (anti)holomorphic transverse coordinates of the
brane sit on a fuzzy two sphere. For a supersymmetric vacuum the
antiholomorphic coordinates must necessarily commute. However, we also
encounter non-supersymmetric vacua for which the antiholomorphic coordinates do
not commute.Comment: 14 pages, minor changes, refs. adde
Gluino Contribution to Radiative B Decays: Organization of QCD Corrections and Leading Order Results
The gluino-induced contributions to the decay b-> s gamma are investigated in
supersymmetric frameworks with generic sources of flavour violation. It is
shown that, when QCD corrections are taken into account, the relevant operator
basis of the Standard Model effective Hamiltonian gets enlarged to contain: i)
magnetic and chromomagnetic operators with a factor of alpha_s and weighted by
a quark mass m_b or m_c; ii) magnetic and chromomagnetic operators of lower
dimensionality, also containing alpha_s; iii) four-quark operators weighted by
a factor alpha_s^2. Numerical results are given, showing the effects of the
leading order QCD corrections on the inclusive branching ratio for b-> s gamma.
Constraints on supersymmetric sources of flavour violation are derived.Comment: 36 pages including 16 postscript figures; uses epsf; journal version:

Signals of Supersymmetric Flavour Models in B Physics
If the mechanism of Supersymmetry breaking is not flavour blind, some flavour
symmetry is likely to be needed to prevent excessive flavour changing neutral
current effects. We discuss two flavour models (based respectively on a U(2)
and on a SU(3) horizontal symmetry) providing a good fit to fermion masses and
mixings and particularly constraining the supersymmetry soft breaking terms. We
show that, while reproducing successfully the Standard Model fit of the
unitarity triangle, it is possible to obtain sizable deviations from the
Standard Model predictions for three very clean B-physics observables: the time
dependent CP asymmetries in and in
and the mass difference. Our analysis exhibits with two
explicit realizations that in supersymmetric theories with a new flavour
structure in addition to the Yukawa matrices there exist concrete
potentialities for revealing supersymmetry indirectly in theoretically clean
-physics observables.Comment: 18 pages, 7 figures, 3 of which in colo
Measurement of the Branching Fraction for B->eta' K and Search for B->eta'pi+
We report measurements for two-body charmless B decays with an eta' meson in
the final state. Using 11.1X10^6 BBbar pairs collected with the Belle detector,
we find BF(B^+ ->eta'K^+)=(79^+12_-11 +-9)x10^-6 and BF(B^0 ->
eta'K^0)=(55^+19_-16 +-8)x10^-6, where the first and second errors are
statistical and systematic, respectively. No signal is observed in the mode B^+
-> eta' pi^+, and we set a 90% confidence level upper limit of BF(B^+->
eta'pi^+) eta'K^+- decays is
investigated and a limit at 90% confidence level of -0.20<Acp<0.32 is obtained.Comment: Submitted to Physics Letters
The composition of the protosolar disk and the formation conditions for comets
Conditions in the protosolar nebula have left their mark in the composition
of cometary volatiles, thought to be some of the most pristine material in the
solar system. Cometary compositions represent the end point of processing that
began in the parent molecular cloud core and continued through the collapse of
that core to form the protosun and the solar nebula, and finally during the
evolution of the solar nebula itself as the cometary bodies were accreting.
Disentangling the effects of the various epochs on the final composition of a
comet is complicated. But comets are not the only source of information about
the solar nebula. Protostellar disks around young stars similar to the protosun
provide a way of investigating the evolution of disks similar to the solar
nebula while they are in the process of evolving to form their own solar
systems. In this way we can learn about the physical and chemical conditions
under which comets formed, and about the types of dynamical processing that
shaped the solar system we see today.
This paper summarizes some recent contributions to our understanding of both
cometary volatiles and the composition, structure and evolution of protostellar
disks.Comment: To appear in Space Science Reviews. The final publication is

Muon anomalous magnetic moment, lepton flavor violation, and flavor changing neutral current processes in SUSY GUT with right-handed neutrino
Motivated by the large mixing angle solutions for the atmospheric and solar
neutrino anomalies, flavor changing neutral current processes and lepton flavor
violating processes as well as the muon anomalous magnetic moment are analyzed
in the framework of SU(5) SUSY GUT with right-handed neutrino. In order to
explain realistic mass relations for quarks and leptons, we take into account
effects of higher dimensional operators above the GUT scale. It is shown that
the supersymmetric (SUSY) contributions to the CP violation parameter in
mixing, , the branching ratio,
and the muon anomalous magnetic moment become large in a wide range of
parameter space. We also investigate correlations among these quantities.
Within the current experimental bound of , large
SUSY contributions are possible either in the muon anomalous magnetic moment or
in . In the former case, the favorable value of the recent muon
anomalous magnetic moment measurement at the BNL E821 experiment can be
accommodated. In the latter case, the allowed region of the Kobayashi-Maskawa
phase can be different from the prediction within the Standard Model (SM) and
therefore the measurements of the CP asymmetry of mode and
could discriminate this case from the SM. We also show that
the branching ratio can be close to the current
experimental upperbound and the mixing induced CP asymmetry of the radiative B
decay can be enhanced in the case where the neutrino parameters correspond to
the Mikheyev-Smirnov-Wolfenstein small mixing angle solution.Comment: 70 pages, 14 figure
