The present study has a psychometric design, with the objective of analyzing the factorial structure and the internal consistency for the Spanish version of the Fatigue Severity Scale (FSS) Questionnaire for Colombian population with chronic disease. Was applied the questionnaire to 52 people with chronic disease in Villavicencio city. The factorial Analysis indicates three factors: Factor 1 named physical affectation, Factor 2 named social affectation and Factor 3 named motivational affectation of the fatigue, where they explain the 76.324% of the total cumulative variance with .870 of Cronbach's Alpha. The results present a high reliability and concordance for the factorial structure with the original version which indicates an adequate validity of the test for Colombian population with chronic disease. © Servicio de Publicaciones - Universidad de Murcia

Elementary excitations of the BCS model in the canonical ensemble

6 págs.; 5 figs.; 1 tab. ; PACS number(s): 74.20.Fg, 71.10.Li, 73.21.La, 75.10.JmWe have found the elementary excitations of the exactly solvable BCS model for a fixed number of particles. These turn out to have a peculiar dispersion relation, some of them with no counterpart in the Bogoliubov picture, and unusual counting properties related to an old conjecture made by Gaudin. We give an algorithm to count the number of excitations for each excited state and a graphical interpretation in terms of paths and Young diagrams. For large systems the excitations are described by an effective Gaudin model, which accounts for the finite-size corrections to BCS. ©2003 American Physical SocietyThis work has been supported by Grant No. BFM2000-1320- C02-01/02.Peer Reviewe

Ant colony optimized planning for unmanned surface marine vehicles

This paper presents some results achieved from a preliminary study on the use of the Ant Colony Algorithm to plan feasible optimal or suboptimal trajectories for an autonomous ship manoeuvring. The scenario, for this preliminary work, comprises only open sea manoeuvres. The goal involves obtaining the least time consuming ship trajectory between to points, departing from the start point with arbitrary initial speed and attitude values and arriving to the end point with predefined speed and attitude values. The specific dynamic of the ship imposes typical restrictions to its manoeuvrability. In the present case, the non-holonomicity, the rate speed/turn radius, and the imposed forward-only propulsion of the ship make up the main restrictions to the ship movement. For long distances, the problem could be tackled as a classical navigation problem, in which, for the most part of the ship trajectory, techniques such inertial navigation should be enough. The problem arises at short distances when it becomes a manoeuvring problem. In this case to obtain a optimal, --in some cases just a feasible--, trajectory could be a difficult problem.Peer Reviewe

An evaluation of the feasibility of electrostatic separation for physical soil washing

    Get PDF
[EN] We present the first application of electrostatic separation for soil washing. Soil samples were collected from the PTE-containing area of La Cruz in Linares, southern Spain. Using a single-phase high-tension roll separator with voltages ranging from 20 kV to 41.5 kV, we achieved yield values between 0.69% and 9%, with high recovery rates for certain elements such as Zn, Cu, and Mo. SEM-EDX analysis revealed three particle types, including a non-conductive fraction composed of feldspar, a middling fraction composed of mica, and a conductive fraction consisting of PTE-bearing slag grains. Attributive analysis showed that 41.5 kV was the optimal voltage for maximizing PTE concentration. Overall, electrostatic separation is a promising approach for treating soils contaminated with PTEs, particularly in dry climate areas impacted by mining activities.S
