A mechanism for randomness
We investigate explicit functions that can produce truly random numbers. We
use the analytical properties of the explicit functions to show that certain
class of autonomous dynamical systems can generate random dynamics. This
dynamics presents fundamental differences with the known chaotic systems. We
present realphysical systems that can produce this kind of random time-series.
We report theresults of real experiments with nonlinear circuits containing
direct evidence for this new phenomenon. In particular, we show that a
Josephson junction coupled to a chaotic circuit can generate unpredictable

Franck-Condon Effect in Central Spin System
We study the quantum transitions of a central spin surrounded by a
collective-spin environment. It is found that the influence of the
environmental spins on the absorption spectrum of the central spin can be
explained with the analog of the Franck-Condon (FC) effect in conventional
electron-phonon interaction system. Here, the collective spins of the
environment behave as the vibrational mode, which makes the electron to be
transitioned mainly with the so-called "vertical transitions" in the
conventional FC effect. The "vertical transition" for the central spin in the
spin environment manifests as, the certain collective spin states of the
environment is favored, which corresponds to the minimal change in the average
of the total spin angular momentum.Comment: 8 pages, 8 figure

The resonance in s wave scatterings
A new unitarization approach incorporated with chiral symmetry is established
and applied to study the elastic scatterings. We demonstrate that the
resonance exists, if the scattering length parameter in the I=1/2, J=0
channel does not deviate much from its value predicted by chiral perturbation
theory. The mass and width of the resonance is found to be
, , obtained by fitting the
LASS data up to 1430MeV. Better determination to the pole parameters is
possible if the chiral predictions on scattering lengths are taken into

Entanglement and Density Matrix of a Block of Spins in AKLT Model
We study a 1-dimensional AKLT spin chain, consisting of spins in the bulk
and at both ends. The unique ground state of this AKLT model is described
by the Valence-Bond-Solid (VBS) state. We investigate the density matrix of a
contiguous block of bulk spins in this ground state. It is shown that the
density matrix is a projector onto a subspace of dimension . This
subspace is described by non-zero eigenvalues and corresponding eigenvectors of
the density matrix. We prove that for large block the von Neumann entropy
coincides with Renyi entropy and is equal to .Comment: Revised version, typos corrected, references added, 31 page
Novel Approach to Confront Electroweak Data and Theory
A novel approach to study electroweak physics at one-loop level in generic
theories is introduced. It separates the 1-loop
corrections into two pieces: process specific ones from vertex and box
contributions, and universal ones from contributions to the gauge boson
propagators. The latter are parametrized in terms of four effective form
factors , , and corresponding to the , , and
propagators. Under the assumption that only the Standard Model contributes to
the process specific corrections, the magnitudes of the four form factors are
determined at and at q^2=\mmz by fitting to all available precision
experiments. These values are then compared systematically with predictions of
theories. In all fits \alpha_s(\mz) and
\bar{\alpha}(\mmz) are treated as external parameters in order to keep the
interpretation as flexible as possible. The treatment of the electroweak data
is presented in detail together with the relevant theoretical formulae used to
interpret the data. No deviation from the Standard Model has been identified.
Ranges of the top quark and Higgs boson masses are derived as functions of
\alpha_s(\mz) and \bar{\alpha}(\mmz). Also discussed are consequences of
the recent precision measurement of the left-right asymmetry at SLC as well as

Breast feeding in Australia: A comparative study of Aboriginal and non Aboriginal women
The superiority of breast feeding over bottle feeding is universally acknowledged, and its crucial contribution to infant health is accepted by health authorities. Australia in recognition of the importance of breast feeding to infant health, aims to increase the prevalence of breast feeding. Breast feeding provides benefits for all children, however the health advantage that is gained by breast feeding in comparison to artificial feeding is more apparent among disadvantaged groups. Aboriginal Australians are identified as one such disadvantaged group. This study compares the available literature regarding the prevalence of breast feeding in Aboriginal and non Aboriginal women. It is apparent that breast feeding prevalence differs, between population groups within Australia. Aboriginal children are less likely to have been breast fed than non Aboriginal children. The comparison, indicates that there are deficiencies in the research regarding breast feeding prevalence in both population groups. Many factors affect a woman's decision to breast feed, and the duration of her breast feeding. These factors include, socioeconomic status, age, marital status, educational attainment, occupation and smoking status. These factors are clearly associated with breast feeding in non Aboriginal women. For Aboriginal women, the factors influencing breast feeding are more complex. It is recommended therefore, that it is essential for future research to examine the attitudinal and socialdeterminants of infant feeding practices in Aboriginal women. This is necessary, if educational or interventional strategies are to be effective for this population
Role of carbonate burial in Blue Carbon budgets
Calcium carbonates (CaCO 3 ) often accumulate in mangrove and seagrass sediments. As CaCO 3 production emits CO 2 , there is concern that this may partially offset the role of Blue Carbon ecosystems as CO 2 sinks through the burial of organic carbon (C org ). A global collection of data on inorganic carbon burial rates (C inorg , 12% of CaCO 3 mass) revealed global rates of 0.8 TgC inorg yr −1 and 15–62 TgC inorg yr −1 in mangrove and seagrass ecosystems, respectively. In seagrass, CaCO 3 burial may correspond to an offset of 30% of the net CO 2 sequestration. However, a mass balance assessment highlights that the C inorg burial is mainly supported by inputs from adjacent ecosystems rather than by local calcification, and that Blue Carbon ecosystems are sites of net CaCO 3 dissolution. Hence, CaCO 3 burial in Blue Carbon ecosystems contribute to seabed elevation and therefore buffers sea-level rise, without undermining their role as CO 2 sinks. © 2019, The Author(s)
