Single-hole properties in the - and strong-coupling models
We report numerical results for the single-hole properties in the -
model and the strong-coupling approximation to the Hubbard model in two
dimensions. Using the hopping basis with over states we discuss (for an
infinite system) the bandwidth, the leading Fourier coefficients in the
dispersion, the band masses, and the spin-spin correlations near the hole. We
compare our results with those obtained by other methods. The band minimum is
found to be at () for the - model for , and for the strong-coupling model for . The bandwidth
in both models is approximately at large , in rough agreement with
loop-expansion results but in disagreement with other results. The
strong-coupling bandwidth for t/J\agt6 can be obtained from the - model
by treating the three-site terms in first-order perturbation theory. The
dispersion along the magnetic zone face is flat, giving a large
parallel/perpendicular band mass ratio.Comment: 1 RevTeX file with epsf directives to include 8 .eps figures 8 figure

Dataset of characteristic remanent magnetization and magnetic properties of early Pliocene sediments from IODP Site U1467 (Maldives platform)
This data article describes data of magnetic stratigraphy and anisotropy of isothermal remanent magnetization (AIRM) from "Magnetic properties of early Pliocene sediments from IODP Site U1467 (Maldives platform) reveal changes in the monsoon system" [1]. Acquisition of isothermal magnetization on pilot samples and anisotropy of isothermal remanent magnetization are reported as raw data; magnetostratigraphic data are reported as characteristic magnetization (ChRM).info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
Relationship Between the Thermodynamic Parameters, Structure, and Anticorrosion Properties of Al-Zr-Ni-Fe-Y Alloys
The influence of the chemical composition on the crystallization process, amorphous phase
formation, and the anticorrosion properties of Al-Zr-Ni-Fe-Y alloys are presented. To reduce
the number of experiments, a thermodynamic approach was applied in which the entropy and
Gibbs free energy of representative alloys were optimized. The low glass-forming ability of
Al-Zr-Ni-Fe-Y alloy systems was related to the crystallization of the Al3Zr phase from the melt.
The structural analysis showed that phases containing Ni and Fe, such as Al19Ni5Y3, Al10Fe2Y,
and Al23Ni6Y4, played a key role in the formation of amorphous alloys. According to this, the
simultaneous addition of Ni/Fe and Y is important to prevent the crystallization of Al-based
alloys in the melt. The formation of an amorphous phase in Al80Zr5Ni5Fe5Y5 alloys and the
complete amorphization of Al85Ni5Fe5Y5 alloys were responsible for the high corrosion
resistance compared with fully crystalline alloys. Moreover, the addition of Y had a significant
impact on the anticorrosion properties. The XPS results showed that the alloys tended to form a
passive Al2O3 and Y2O3 layer on the surface
Lifetime distributions in the methods of non-equilibrium statistical operator and superstatistics
A family of non-equilibrium statistical operators is introduced which differ
by the system age distribution over which the quasi-equilibrium (relevant)
distribution is averaged. To describe the nonequilibrium states of a system we
introduce a new thermodynamic parameter - the lifetime of a system.
Superstatistics, introduced in works of Beck and Cohen [Physica A \textbf{322},
(2003), 267] as fluctuating quantities of intensive thermodynamical parameters,
are obtained from the statistical distribution of lifetime (random time to the
system degeneracy) considered as a thermodynamical parameter. It is suggested
to set the mixing distribution of the fluctuating parameter in the
superstatistics theory in the form of the piecewise continuous functions. The
distribution of lifetime in such systems has different form on the different
stages of evolution of the system. The account of the past stages of the
evolution of a system can have a substantial impact on the non-equilibrium
behaviour of the system in a present time moment.Comment: 18 page
Adipokines and Incident Type 2 Diabetes in a Canadian Aborigine Population: The Sandy Lake Health and Diabetes Project
OBJECTIVE—The aim of this study was to investigate associations of adiponectin, leptin, C-reactive protein (CRP), interleukin (IL)-6, and serum amyloid A (SAA), individually or in combinations, with risk of incident type 2 diabetes in a Canadian Aborigine population
Calibration of Super-Kamiokande Using an Electron Linac
In order to calibrate the Super-Kamiokande experiment for solar neutrino
measurements, a linear accelerator (LINAC) for electrons was installed at the
detector. LINAC data were taken at various positions in the detector volume,
tracking the detector response in the variables relevant to solar neutrino
analysis. In particular, the absolute energy scale is now known with less than
1 percent uncertainty.Comment: 24 pages, 16 figures, Submitted to NIM
Measurement of a small atmospheric ratio
From an exposure of 25.5~kiloton-years of the Super-Kamiokande detector, 900
muon-like and 983 electron-like single-ring atmospheric neutrino interactions
were detected with momentum MeV/, MeV/, and
with visible energy less than 1.33 GeV. Using a detailed Monte Carlo
simulation, the ratio was measured to be , consistent with previous results from the
Kamiokande, IMB and Soudan-2 experiments, and smaller than expected from
theoretical models of atmospheric neutrino production.Comment: 14 pages with 5 figure
Measurement of radon concentrations at Super-Kamiokande
Radioactivity from radon is a major background for observing solar neutrinos
at Super-Kamiokande. In this paper, we describe the measurement of radon
concentrations at Super-Kamiokande, the method of radon reduction, and the
radon monitoring system. The measurement shows that the current low-energy
event rate between 5.0 MeV and 6.5 MeV implies a radon concentration in the
Super-Kamiokande water of less than 1.4 mBq/m.Comment: 11 pages, 4 figure
Lepton-Flavor Violation via Right-Handed Neutrino Yukawa Couplings in Supersymmetric Standard Model
Various lepton-flavor violating (LFV) processes in the supersymmetric
standard model with right-handed neutrino supermultiplets are investigated in
detail. It is shown that large LFV rates are obtained when is
large. In the case where the mixing matrix in the lepton sector has a similar
structure as the Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix and the third-generation Yukawa
coupling is as large as that of the top quark, the branching ratios can be as
large as and
, which are within the reach of
future experiments. If we assume a large mixing angle solution to the
atmospheric neutrino problem, rate for the process
becomes larger. We also discuss the difference between our case and the case of
the minimal grand unified theory
Search for Neutral Q-balls in Super-Kamiokande II
A search for Q-balls induced groups of successive contained events has been
carried out in Super-Kamiokande II with 541.7 days of live time.
Neutral Q-balls would emit pions when colliding with nuclei, generating a
signal of successive contained pion events along a track. No candidate for
successive contained event groups has been found in Super-Kamiokande II, so
upper limits on the possible flux of such Q-balls have been obtained.Comment: 5 pages, 5 figures, Submitted to Phys. Lett.
