Las mayores concentraciones de túmulos y la presencia de los de mayor tamaño están relacionadas con los suelos más aptos para el cultivo.     Stereometry of Crystalline Phases Observed in Scanning Electron Microscopy

    A study of edges and angles of known samples has been performed by means of stereoscopic pairs with electron microscopy in two and three dimensional systems. The derived equations have been included in a computer program. Measurements on stereoscopic pairs with different tilt angles using several crystals of galena, calcite and other objects with known dimensions have been performed. The optimum tilt angles have been obtained by comparison with the actual values, and a logarithmic ratio between these angles and the stereoscopic pairs magnification has been found. The errors obtained using this system of calculation are lower than 6% in the measure of angles and 15% in the case of edges

    Exploring quality-aware architectural transformations at run-time: the ENIA case

    Adapting software systems at run-time is a key issue, especially when these systems consist of components used as intermediary for human-computer interaction. In this sense, model transformation techniques have a widespread acceptance as a mechanism for adapting and evolving the software architecture of such systems. However, existing model transformations often focus on functional requirements, and quality attributes are only manually considered after the transformations are done. This paper aims to improve the quality of adaptations and evolutions in component-based software systems by taking into account quality attributes within the model transformation process. To this end, we present a quality-aware transformation process using software architecture metrics to select among many alternative model transformations. Such metrics evaluate the quality attributes of an architecture. We validate the presented quality-aware transformation process in ENIA, a geographic information system whose user interfaces are based on coarsegrained components and need to be adapted at run-time

    Incommensurate instability and lattice dynamics of potassium selenate within a semiempirical rigid-ion model

    The lattice dynamics of potassium selenate is analyzed using a rigid-ion model with the selenate groups reduced to rigid bodies. The interatomic forces have been adjusted only using static structural data. The number of adjustable parameters varies from two to five. Such a simple model is already sufficient to reproduce semiquantitatively the phonon dynamics of the real system. In particular, the model exhibits the lattice instability leading to the existence of an incommensurate phase. The characteristics of the resulting soft mode agree with those observed experimentally. The calculated eigenvector, in excellent agreement with the experimental one, is rather insensitive to the details of the interactions. This explains the strong similarities of the incommensurate modulations in most A2BX4 compounds. On the other hand, the form of the soft-phonon branch strongly depends on the force model. It is sufficient to fit the model to the static structure observed at 145 K instead of the one at room temperature, to provoke a conspicuous softening of the branch. The branch minimum is specially sensitive to some potassium-oxygen interactions. The relative size of the cations plays an essential role in the origin of the incommensurate instability. For comparison the results of a similar analysis for Cs2SeO4 are presented.     Anti-phospholipid-antibodies in patients with relapsing polychondritis

    Relapsing polychondritis (RP) is an extremly rare multisystemic disease thought to be of autoimmune origin. In order to assess if RP is associated with anti-phospholipid antibodies (aPL), clinical data and sera of 21 patients with RP were collected in a multicentre study. Concentration of anti-cardiolipin antibodies (aCL) (IgG-, IgM-and IgA-isotypes), anti-phosphatidylserine-antibodies (aPS) (IgG-and IgM-isotypes) and anti-β-2-glycoprotein I-antibodies (aβ2 GPI) were measured by ELISA. In eight patients aCL were found to be elevated. One patient had elevated aPS. No patient had elevated aβ2 GPI. No patient had clinical signs and symptoms of a aPL syndrome. Interestingly, the two RP patients with the highest aPL had concomitant systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Therefore the presence of elevated aPL in RP is probably more closely related to an associated SLE than to RP itself. There is no convincing evidence that aPL are associated with RP

    1. In the rat, the LH-dependent ovarian progesterone rise mediates several actions of the primary surge of LH on the ovary. This experiment was aimed at elucidating the effects of the antiprogestagen RU486 on the LH- dependent decrease in both the serum concentrations and the ovarian content of inhibin. 2. All rats in this experiment were treated with an antagonist of LHRH (1 mg/200 μl saline at 0800 b in proestrus) to supress the endogenous release of LH. One group of rats received 32 μg LH/250 μl saline at 1200h in proestrus. Other group was given 4 mg RU486/200 μl oil at 0800 h in proestrus. The third group was injected with both RU486 and LH. Rats from the control group were injected with 250 μl saline and 200 μl oil. Animals were decapitated at 1700 h in proestrus and trunk blood and ovaries collected to determine the serum concentrations of LH, FSH, progesterone, 17β-estradiol and inhibin as well as the ovarian content of inhibin. 3. The ovulatory dose of LH in LHRHα-treated rats decreased both the serum concentrations and the ovarian content of inhibin and increased the serum concentrations of FSH. The administration of RU486 blocked the effect of LH on the serum concentrations of inhibin but not that on the ovarian content of inhibin. 4. Since the antiprogestagen RU486 blocked the effect of LH on the serum concentrations of inhibin, we conclude that ovarian progesterone, besides mediating the effects of the primary LH surge on the ovulatory process and luteinization, participates in the LH-dependent drop in the serum concentrations of inhibin in proestrous afternoon

    GPS, LiDAR and VNIR data to monitor the spatial behavior of grazing sheep

    Traditional knowledge about the behavior of grazing livestock is about to disappear. Shepherds well know that sheep behavior follows non-random patterns. As a novel alternative to seeking behavioral patterns, this study quantified the grazing activities of two sheep flocks of Churra breed (both in the same area but separated by 10 years) based on Global Position System (GPS) monitoring and remote monitoring sensing techniques. In the first monitoring period (2009-10), geolocations were recorded every 5 min (4, 240 records), while in the second one (2018-20), records were taken every 30 min (7, 636 records). The data were clustered based on the day/night and the activity (resting, moving, or grazing). An airborne LiDAR dataset was used to study the slope, aspect, and vegetation height. Four visible-infrared orthophotographs were mosaicked and classified to obtain the land use/land cover (LU/LC) map. Then, GPS locations were overlain on the terrain features, and a Chi-square test evaluated the relationships between locations and terrain features. Three spatial statistics (directional distribution, Kernel density, and Hot Spot analysis) were also calculated. Results in both monitoring periods suggested that the spatial distribution of free-grazing ewes was non-random. The flocks showed strong preferences for grazing areas with gentle north-facing slopes, where the herbaceous layer formed by pasture predominates. The geostatistical analyses of the sheep locations corroborated those preferences. Geotechnologies have emerged as a potent tool to demonstrate the influence of environmental and terrain attributes on the non-random spatial behavior of grazing sheep. © 2022 Malque Publishing.
