    A recommender system for process discovery

    Over the last decade, several algorithms for process discovery and process conformance have been proposed. Still, it is well-accepted that there is no dominant algorithm in any of these two disciplines, and then it is often difficult to apply them successfully. Most of these algorithms need a close-to expert knowledge in order to be applied satisfactorily. In this paper, we present a recommender system that uses portfolio-based algorithm selection strategies to face the following problems: to find the best discovery algorithm for the data at hand, and to allow bridging the gap between general users and process mining algorithms. El objeto de este ensayo es matizar estadiscusión y contribuir con una nueva visión sobre el problema, considerandofactores como el marco normativo que las rige, el cual permite una ejecuciónmuy volátil de los recursos de las regalías en el ámbito subnacional.Con base en el peso de las regalías en las finanzas subnacionales y devariables socioeconómicas de cada una de ellas se realiza un conjunto deagrupamientos a partir de una metodología multivariante.     An introduction to Lipschitz geometry of complex singularities

    The aim of this paper to introduce the reader to a recent point of view on the Lipschitz classifications of complex singularities. It presents the complete classification of Lipschitz geometry of complex plane curves singularities and in particular, it introduces the so-called bubble trick and bubble trick with jumps which are key tools to study Lipschitz geometry of germs. It describes also the thick-thin decomposition of a normal complex surface singularity and built two geometric decompositions of a normal surface germ into standard pieces which are invariant by respectively inner and outer bilipschitz homeomorphisms. This leads in particular to the complete classification of Lipschitz geometry for the inner metric.Comment: 50 pages, 36 figure

    Characterization of a new molecule capable of inhibiting several steps of the amyloid cascade in Alzheimer's disease

    Introduction: Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the most prevalent neurodegenerative disorder in elderly people. Existent therapies are directed at alleviating some symptoms, but are not effective in altering the course of the disease. Methods: Based on our previous study that showed that an Fiji-interacting small peptide protected against the toxic effects of amyloid-beta peptide (A beta), we carried out an array of in silico, in vitro, and in vivo assays to identify a molecule having neuroprotective properties. Results: In silico studies showed that the molecule, referred to as M30 (2-Octahydroisoquinolin-2(1H)-ylethanamine), was able to interact with the A beta peptide. Additionally, in vitro assays showed that M30 blocked A beta aggregation, association to the plasma membrane, synaptotoxicity, intracellular calcium, and cellular toxicity, while in vivo experiments demonstrated that M30 induced a neuroprotective effect by decreasing the toxicity of A beta in the dentate gyrus of the hippocampus and improving the alteration in spatial memory in behavior assays. Discussion Therefore, we propose that this new small molecule could be a useful candidate for the additional development of a treatment against AD since it appears to block multiple steps in the amyloid cascade. Overall, since there are no drugs that effectively block the progression of AD, this approach represents an innovative strategy. Significance: Currently, there is no effective treatment for AD and the expectations to develop an effective therapy are low. Using in silico, in vitro, and in vivo experiments, we identified a new compound that is able to inhibit A beta-induced neurotoxicity, specifically aggregation, association to neurons, synaptic toxicity, calcium dyshomeostasis and memory impairment induced by A beta. Because A beta toxicity is central to AD progression, the inhibition mediated by this new molecule might be useful as a therapeutic tool

    Two-Loop Four-Fermion Scattering Amplitude in QED

    We present the first fully analytic evaluation of the transition amplitude for the scattering of a massless into a massive pair of fermions at the two-loop level in quantum electrodynamics. Our result is an essential ingredient for the determination of the electromagnetic coupling within scattering reactions, beyond the currently known accuracy, which has a crucial impact on the evaluation of the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon. It will allow, in particular, for a precise determination of the leading hadronic contribution to the (g−2)μ in the MUonE experiment at CERN, and therefore can be used to shed light on the current discrepancy between the standard model prediction and the experimental measurement for this important physical observable

    The two-loop four-fermion scattering amplitude in QED

    We present the analytic evaluation of the two-loop corrections to the amplitude for the scattering of four fermions in Quantum Electrodynamics, f+f++F+F+0f^- + f^+ + F^- + F^+ \to 0, with ff and FF representing a massless and a massive lepton, respectively. Dimensional regularization is employed to evaluate the loop integrals. Ultraviolet divergences are removed by renormalizing the coupling constant in the MS{\overline{\text{MS}}}-scheme, and the lepton mass as well as the external fields in the on-shell scheme. The analytic result for the renormalized amplitude is expressed as Laurent series around d=4d=4 space-time dimensions, and contains Generalized Polylogarithms with up to weight four. The structure of the residual infrared divergences of the virtual amplitude is in agreement with the prediction of the Soft Collinear Effective Theory. Our analytic results are an essential ingredient for the computation of the scattering cross section for massive fermion-pair production in massless fermion-pair annihilation, i.e. ff+FF+f^- f^+ \to F^- F^+, and crossing related processes such as the elastic scattering fFfFf F \to f F, with up to Next-to-Next to Leading Order accuracy.Comment: 5 pages, 2 figures, 1 table + supplemental materia

    Definition of a list of fish diseases to aid health management in Spain

    Trabajo presentado en la 14th EAFP International Conference (European Association of Fish Pathologists), celebrada en Praga (República Checa), del 14 al 19 de septiembre de 2009An expert working group used a risk ranking technique to compile a list of fish disease hazards (pathogens) of relevance to Spanish aquaculture. It was possible to divide the list into three groups: I-high national risk; II-regional risk; III-low risk. The three groups were as follows: Group I (high risk) Aphanomyces invadans (EUS)**, spring viraemia of carp virus (SVCV), koi herpes virus (KHV)¿ and infectious haematopoietic necrosis virus (IHNV)¿ Group II (regional risk) Enteromyxum spp. (leei and scophthalmi), Aquabirnaviridae (incl. IPNV), viral encephalopathy and retinopathy virus (VERV), Streptococcus iniae, Philasterides dicentrarchi and Aeromonas salmonicida (in the marine environment). Group III (low risk) Sparicotyle chrysophrii/Microcotylidae, Flavobacterium maritimus, Photobacterium piscicida, Togaviridae, Sphaerospora testicularis, Edwardsiella tarda, Birnavirus (no-EVE), Lactococcus garviae, viral haemorrhagic septicaemia virus (VHSV)¿, Tenacibaculum maritimum, epizootic haematopoietic necrosis virus (EHNV)**, Renibacterium salmoninarum (BKD) and Gyrodactylus salaris.
