Geodesic Structure of Lifshitz Black Holes in 2+1 Dimensions
We present a study of the geodesic equations of a black hole space-time which
is a solution of the three-dimensional NMG theory and is asymptotically
Lifshitz with and as found in [Ayon-Beato E., Garbarz A., Giribet
G. and Hassaine M., Phys. Rev. {\bf D} 80, 104029 (2009)]. By means of the
corresponding effective potentials for massive particles and photons we find
the allowed motions by the energy levels. Exact solutions for radial and
non-radial geodesics are given in terms of the Weierstrass elliptic ,
, and functions.Comment: 10 pages, 6 figures, accepted for publication in Eur. Phys. J.
The golden ratio in Schwarzschild-Kottler black holes
In this paper we show that the golden ratio is present in the
Schwarzschild-Kottler metric. For null geodesics with maximal radial
acceleration, the turning points of the orbits are in the golden ratio . This is a general result which is independent of the value and
sign of the cosmological constant
Static circularly symmetric perfect fluid solutions with an exterior BTZ metric
In this work we study static perfect fluid stars in 2+1 dimensions with an
exterior BTZ spacetime. We found the general expression for the metric
coefficients as a function of the density and pressure of the fluid. We found
the conditions to have regularity at the origin throughout the analysis of a
set of linearly independent invariants. We also obtain an exact solution of the
Einstein equations, with the corresponding equation of state , which
is regular at the origin.Comment: 10 pages, 1 figure, revtex 4. This paper is in honor of Alberto

Characterization of bipartite states using a single homodyne detector
We suggest a scheme to reconstruct the covariance matrix of a two-mode state
using a single homodyne detector plus a polarizing beam splitter and a
polarization rotator. It can be used to fully characterize bipartite Gaussian
states and to extract relevant informations on generic states.Comment: 7 pages, 1 figur
The geodesic structure of the Schwarzschild Anti-de Sitter black hole
In the present work we found the geodesic structure of an AdS black hole. By
means of a detailed analyze of the corresponding effective potentials for
particles and photon, we found all the possible motions which are allowed by
the energy levels. Radial and non radial trajectories were exactly evaluated
for both geodesics. The founded orbits were plotted in order to have a direct
visualization of the allowed motions. We show that the geodesic structure of
this black hole presents new type of motions not allowed by the Schwarzschild
spacetime.Comment: 17 pages, 11 figure
Inoculation with the endophytic bacterium Herbaspirillum seropedicae promotes growth, nutrient uptake and photosynthetic efficiency in rice
Main conclusion:
Higher vacuolar proton pump activity may increase plant energy and nutrient use efficiency and provide the nexus between plant inoculation with Herbaspirillum seropedicae and growth promotion.
Abstract:
Global change and growing human population are exhausting arable land and resources, including water and fertilizers. We present inoculation with the endophytic plant-growth promoting bacterium (PGPB) Herbaspirillum seropedicae as a strategy for promoting growth, nutrient uptake and photosynthetic efficiency in rice (Oryza sativa L.). Because plant nutrient acquisition is coordinated with photosynthesis and the plant carbon status, we hypothesize that inoculation with H. seropedicae will stimulate proton (H+) pumps, increasing plant growth nutrient uptake and photosynthetic efficiency at low nutrient levels. Plants were inoculated and grown in pots with sterile soil for 90 days. Herbaspirillum seropedicae endophytic colonization was successful and, as hypothesized, inoculation (1) stimulated root vacuolar H+ pumps (vacuolar H+-ATPase and vacuolar H+-PPase), and (2) increased plant growth, nutrient contents and photosynthetic efficiency. The results showed that inoculation with the endophytic bacterium H. seropedicae can promote plant growth, nutrient uptake and photosynthetic efficiency, which will likely result in a more efficient use of resources (nutrients and water) and higher production of nutrient-rich food at reduced economic and environmental costs.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
Formative Assessment in Virtual Education: Systematic review
Interacting Kasner-type cosmologies
It is well known that Kasner-type cosmologies provide a useful framework for
analyzing the three-dimensional anisotropic expansion because of the
simplification of the anisotropic dynamics. In this paper relativistic
multi-fluid Kasner-type scenarios are studied. We first consider the general
case of a superposition of two ideal cosmic fluids, as well as the particular
cases of non-interacting and interacting ones, by introducing a
phenomenological coupling function . For two-fluid cosmological scenarios
there exist only cosmological scaling solutions, while for three-fluid
configurations there exist not only cosmological scaling ones, but also more
general solutions. In the case of triply interacting cosmic fluids we can have
energy transfer from two fluids to a third one, or energy transfer from one
cosmic fluid to the other two. It is shown that by requiring the positivity of
energy densities there always is a matter component which violates the dominant
energy condition in this kind of anisotropic cosmological scenarios.Comment: Accepted for publication in Astrophysics &Space Science, 8 page
Minigene-like inhibition of protein synthesis mediated by hungry codons near the start codon
Rare AGA or AGG codons close to the initiation codon inhibit protein synthesis by a tRNA-sequestering mechanism as toxic minigenes do. To further understand this mechanism, a parallel analysis of protein synthesis and peptidyl-tRNA accumulation was performed using both a set of lacZ constructs where AGAAGA codons were moved codon by codon from +2, +3 up to +7, +8 positions and a series of 3–8 codon minigenes containing AGAAGA codons before the stop codon. β-Galactosidase synthesis from the AGAAGA lacZ constructs (in a Pth defective in vitro system without exogenous tRNA) diminished as the AGAAGA codons were closer to AUG codon. Likewise, β-galactosidase expression from the reporter +7 AGA lacZ gene (plus tRNA, 0.25 μg/μl) waned as the AGAAGAUAA minigene shortened. Pth counteracted both the length-dependent minigene effect on the expression of β-galactosidase from the +7 AGA lacZ reporter gene and the positional effect from the AGAAGA lacZ constructs. The +2, +3 AGAAGA lacZ construct and the shortest +2, +3 AGAAGAUAA minigene accumulated the highest percentage of peptidyl-tRNAArg4. These observations lead us to propose that hungry codons at early positions, albeit with less strength, inhibit protein synthesis by a minigene-like mechanism involving accumulation of peptidyl-tRNA
