Optimal accessing and non-accessing structures for graph protocols
An accessing set in a graph is a subset B of vertices such that there exists
D subset of B, such that each vertex of V\B has an even number of neighbors in
D. In this paper, we introduce new bounds on the minimal size kappa'(G) of an
accessing set, and on the maximal size kappa(G) of a non-accessing set of a
graph G. We show strong connections with perfect codes and give explicitly
kappa(G) and kappa'(G) for several families of graphs. Finally, we show that
the corresponding decision problems are NP-Complete
Cryptographie Quantique : Protocoles et Graphes
I want to realize an optimal theoretical model for quantum secret sharing protocols based on graph states. The main parameter of a threshold quantum secret sharing scheme is the size of the largest set of players that can not access the secret. Thus, my goal is to find a collection of protocols for which the value of this parameter is the smallest possible. I also study the links between quantum secret sharing protocols and families of curves in algebraic geometry.
Quantum Secret Sharing with Graph States
Revised Selected Papers - http://www.memics.cz/2012/International audienceWe study the graph-state-based quantum secret sharing protocols [24,17] which are not only very promising in terms of physical implementation, but also resource efficient since every player's share is composed of a single qubit. The threshold of a graph-state-based protocol admits a lower bound: for any graph of order n, the threshold of the corresponding n-player protocol is at least 0.506n. Regarding the upper bound, lexicographic product of the C 5 graph (cycle of size 5) are known to provide n-player protocols which threshold is nââân 0.68. Using Paley graphs we improve this bound to nââân 0.71. Moreover, using probabilistic methods, we prove the existence of graphs which associated threshold is at most 0.811n. Albeit non-constructive, probabilistic methods permit to prove that a random graph G of order n has a threshold at most 0.811n with high probability. However, verifying that the threshold of a given graph is acually smaller than 0.811n is hard since we prove that the corresponding decision problem is NP-Complete. These results are mainly based on the graphical characterization of the graph-state-based secret sharing properties, in particular we point out strong connections with domination with parity constraints
On Weak Odd Domination and Graph-based Quantum Secret Sharing
A weak odd dominated (WOD) set in a graph is a subset B of vertices for which
there exists a distinct set of vertices C such that every vertex in B has an
odd number of neighbors in C. We point out the connections of weak odd
domination with odd domination, [sigma,rho]-domination, and perfect codes. We
introduce bounds on \kappa(G), the maximum size of WOD sets of a graph G, and
on \kappa'(G), the minimum size of non WOD sets of G. Moreover, we prove that
the corresponding decision problems are NP-complete. The study of weak odd
domination is mainly motivated by the design of graph-based quantum secret
sharing protocols: a graph G of order n corresponds to a secret sharing
protocol which threshold is \kappa_Q(G) = max(\kappa(G), n-\kappa'(G)). These
graph-based protocols are very promising in terms of physical implementation,
however all such graph-based protocols studied in the literature have
quasi-unanimity thresholds (i.e. \kappa_Q(G)=n-o(n) where n is the order of the
graph G underlying the protocol). In this paper, we show using probabilistic
methods, the existence of graphs with smaller \kappa_Q (i.e. \kappa_Q(G)<
0.811n where n is the order of G). We also prove that deciding for a given
graph G whether \kappa_Q(G)< k is NP-complete, which means that one cannot
efficiently double check that a graph randomly generated has actually a
\kappa_Q smaller than 0.811n.Comment: Subsumes arXiv:1109.6181: Optimal accessing and non-accessing

Clinical and Epidemiological Changes in French Soldiers After Deployment: Impact of Doxycycline Malaria Prophylaxis on Body Weight
International audienceABSTRACT Background Antibiotics are growth promotors used in animal farming. Doxycycline (DOXY) is a tetracycline antibiotic taken daily and continued 1Â month after return to protect against malaria during travel and deployment in endemic areas. We evaluated DOXY impact on body weight in military international travelers. Materiel and Methods A prospective cohort analysis was conducted in 2016-2018, recruiting 170 French soldiers before a 4-month assignment overseas. Many clinical data including anthropometric measures by an investigator were collected before and after deployment. Weight gain was defined by an increase of 2% from baseline. The study protocol was supported by the French Armed Forces Health Services and approved by the French ethics committee (IRB no. 2015âA01961â48, ref promoter 2015RC0). Written, informed consent was obtained with signature from each volunteer before inclusion. Results After deployment, 84 soldiers were followed up. Overall, 38/84 (45%) were deployed to Mali with DOXY malaria prophylaxis, and others were deployed to Iraq or Lebanon without malaria prophylaxis according to international recommendations. Body weight increased in 24/84 (30%), of whom 14/24 (58%) were exposed to DOXY. In bivariate analysis, DOXY had a positive but not significant effect on weight gain (P-valueâ=â.4). In the final logistic regression model (Fig. 3), weight gain after deployment positively correlated with an increase in waist circumference (odds ratio [OR] 1.23 with 95% CI [1.06-1.47]) suggesting fat gain; with sedentary work (OR 5.34; 95% CI [1.07-31.90]); and with probiotic intake (OR 5.27; 95% CI [1.51-20.40]). Weight impact of probiotics was more important when associated with DOXY intake (OR 6.86; 95% CI [1.52-38.1]; P-valueâ=â.016). Conclusions Doxycycline (DOXY) malaria prophylaxis during several months did not cause significant weight gain in soldiers. Further studies are required in older and less sportive traveling populations, and to investigate a cumulative effect over time and recurrent DOXY exposure. Doxycycline (DOXY) may enhance other growth-promoting factors including fatty food, sedentariness, and strain-specific probiotics contained in fermented dairy products which are also used as growth promotors
Gut microbiota in military international travelers with doxycycline malaria prophylaxis: Towards the risk of a simpson paradox in the human microbiome field
International audienceDysbiosis, developed upon antibiotic administration, results in loss of diversity and shifts in the abundance of gut microbes. Doxycycline is a tetracycline antibiotic widely used for malaria prophylaxis in travelers. We prospectively studied changes in the fecal microbiota of 15 French soldiers after a 4-month mission to Mali with doxycycline malaria prophylaxis, compared to changes in the microbiota of 28 soldiers deployed to Iraq and Lebanon without doxycycline. Stool samples were collected with clinical data before and after missions, and 16S rRNA sequenced on MiSeq targeting the V3-V4 region. Doxycycline exposure resulted in increased alpha-biodiversity and no significant beta-dissimilarities. It led to expansion in Bacteroides, with a reduction in Bifidobacterium and Lactobacillus, as in the group deployed without doxycycline. Doxycycline did not alter the community structure and was specifically associated with a reduction in Escherichia and expression of Rothia. Differences in the microbiota existed at baseline between military units but not within the studied groups. This group-effect highlighted the risk of a Simpson paradox in microbiome studies
