(Penta­fluoro­propionato-κO)tetra­kis­(trimethyl­phosphine oxide-κO)copper(II) penta­fluoro­propionate

The title compound, [Cu(C3F5O2)(C3H9OP)4](C3F5O2), comprises a cationic CuII complex and a disordered penta­fluoro­propionate counter-ion. The metal atom has a distorted square-pyramidal coordination environment formed by four O atoms originating from trimethyl­phosphine oxide mol­ecules and the remaining one belonging to the monodentate penta­fluoro­propionate anion, which is situated in the basal plane of the pyramid. The mol­ecules are held together in the crystal by a net of weak C—H⋯O and C—H⋯F hydrogen bonds. The counter anion is disordered over two sets of sites in a 0.629 (5):0.371 (5) ratio

Multiple identities displayed by post-graduate English majors at personal, academic and professional level

This article is an attempt to contribute to the existing body of research on identity formation among post-graduate students of teacher education and, more specifically, the multiple identities these early career teachers are expected to adopt. Teaching goes far beyond mere instruction and most teachers undertake a number of different roles within the school context (Flores & Day, 2006, p. 225). Teachers who are at the same time university students need to incorporate further roles, while trying to reconcile them with their professional self-image and personal identities. The process of identity formation in this context may be difficult because “(student) teachers have to make sense of varying and sometimes competing perspectives, expectations, and roles that they have to confront and adapt to” (Beijaard, Meijer, & Verloop, 2004, p. 115). This paper is centered on a study that explores identities displayed by postgraduate students of teacher education programs at personal, academic and professional level. The study compares two groups of subjects: students of regular and extramural programs. The findings show that switching between the roles is not easy for both groups and it seriously jeopardizes their professional motivation and enthusiasm. It is hoped that the study contributes to a more profound understanding of the concept of identity among early career teachers

The impact of nanosilver addition on element ions release form light-cured dental composite and compomer into 0.9% NaCl

The aim of this paper was to identify and to assess in semi-quantified way the release of different ions from composite and compomer restorative materials subjected to 0.9% NaCl solution, which simulates the environment of the human body. In the present study, the number of ions (Al, Ag, Ba, Sr, Ti) released from dental fillings over time (one week, one month and 3 months), in different temperatures (23°C, 37°C) and depending on the materials applied (unmodified/modified with nanosilver) was investigated. The results suggest that nanosilver addition influences directly on the process of metal ion releasing into 0.9% NaCl solution. The increase in the number of counts of metal ions was observed in the solutions in which samples modified with nanosilver were kept. Higher amount of metal ion release was observed for composite samples rather than for compomer materials. The study revealed that in general the number of released metal ions increases with the time of storage (for metal ions: Ti, Ba, Sr) and at higher temperature (Ag, Ti, Ba). Reverse tendency observed for silver ion release versus incubation time may be caused by the process of silver adsorption, which takes place on the surface of analyzed material and test-tube walls, where samples were incubated

Assessment of quality of life and selected aspects of physical, psychological, social, and environmental functioning in patients treated for breast cancer 5 years after breast-conserving surgery or mastectomy

Introduction: Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women in well-developed countries. Modern treatment for breast cancer is multimodal, with surgery being the mainstay of treatment. The aim of the study was to assess quality of life, self-efficacy, and satisfaction with life in patients treated for breast cancer with two different surgery types. Materials and methods: This study involved 360 women – 120 after mastectomy (MAS), 120 after breast-conserving surgery (BCT), and 120 healthy controls (CG).
