    In this chapter, the heat transfer between supercritical fluid flows and solid walls and that between compressible flows and solid walls is described. First, the physical fundamentals of supercritical fluids and compressible flows are explained. Second, methods for estimating the heat‐transfer performance according to the physical fundamentals and conventional experimental results are described. Then, the known correlations for estimating the heat‐transfer performance are introduced. Finally, examples of practical heat exchangers using supercritical fluid flows and/or compressible flows are presented

    An Analysis of Trends in Research on Methods of Assessing Children’s Assertion

    In recent years, there have been concerns about issues related to communication with others in education and childcare, especially the communication of younger children. One of the things that seem to be important in solving these problems is to raise the assertion of children. In order to nurture assertion, it is necessary to consider programs such as training. At the same time, it is important to assess the assertion of children. Therefore, in this study, the present state of the method for assessing the assertion of children was examined through analyzing the research trend. Since there were a few studies on young children subjects in this field, the study including the research of child subjects was examined.This research is a part of a research funded by JSPS Grant-in-Aid for Young Scientists (B) (17K13916).     Constructing Classical and Quantum Superconformal Algebras on the Boundary of AdS_3

    Motivated by recent progress on the correspondence between string theory on anti-de Sitter space and conformal field theory, we address the question of constructing space-time N extended superconformal algebras on the boundary of AdS_3. Based on a free field realization of an affine SL(2|N/2) current superalgebra residing on the world sheet, we construct explicitly the Virasoro generators and the N supercurrents. N is even. The resulting superconformal algebra has an affine SL(N/2) \otimes U(1) current algebra as an internal subalgebra. Though we do not complete the general superalgebra, we outline the underlying construction and present supporting evidence for its validity. Particular attention is paid to its BRST invariance. In the classical limit where the free field realization may be substituted by a differential operator realization, we discuss further classes of generators needed in the closure of the algebra. We find sets of half-integer spin fields, and for N>4 these include generators of negative weights. An interesting property of the construction is that for N>2 it treats the supercurrents in an asymmetric way. Thus, we are witnessing a new class of superconformal algebras not obtainable by conventional Hamiltonian reduction.     Non-catalytic Roles of Tet2 Are Essential to Regulate Hematopoietic Stem and Progenitor Cell Homeostasis

    The Ten-eleven translocation (TET) enzymes regulate gene expression by promoting DNA demethylation and partnering with chromatin modifiers. TET2, a member of this family, is frequently mutated in hematological disorders. The contributions of TET2 in hematopoiesis have been attributed to its DNA demethylase activity, and the significance of its nonenzymatic functions has remained undefined. To dissect the catalytic and non-catalytic requirements of Tet2, we engineered catalytically inactive Tet2 mutant mice and conducted comparative analyses of Tet2 mutant and Tet2 knockout animals. Tet2 knockout mice exhibited expansion of hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells (HSPCs) and developed myeloid and lymphoid disorders, while Tet2 mutant mice predominantly developed myeloid malignancies reminiscent of human myelodysplastic syndromes. HSPCs from Tet2 knockout mice exhibited distinct gene expression profiles, including downregulation of Gata2. Overexpression of Gata2 in Tet2 knockout bone marrow cells ameliorated disease phenotypes. Our results reveal the non-catalytic roles of TET2 in HSPC homeostasis

    Fresnel diffraction calculation on an arbitrary shape surface is proposed. This method is capable of calculating Fresnel diffraction from a source surface with an arbitrary shape to a planar destination surface. Although such calculation can be readily calculated by the direct integral of a diffraction calculation, the calculation cost is proportional to O(N2)O(N^2) in one dimensional or O(N4)O(N^4) in two dimensional cases, where NN is the number of sampling points. However, the calculation cost of the proposed method is O(NlogN)O(N \log N) in one dimensional or O(N2logN)O(N^2 \log N) in two dimensional cases using non-uniform fast Fourier transform

    W3W_3 strings, parafermions and the Ising model

    We show that any covariant scattering amplitude of the W3W_3 string will contain, as part of its integrand, a factor that obeys the differential equations satisfied by an Ising model correlation function. This factor can thus be identified with such a correlation function, in agreement with a previous result of the authors. The W3W_3 string is also shown to contain an N=2N=2 parafermion theory, and hence to contain in addition the non-linear infinite-dimensional WW-algebra corresponding to this parafermion theory.     Cheek-splitting technique for marginal mandibulectomy : a novel approach

    When performing marginal mandibulectomy, ensuring complete tumor removal and preventing postoperative iatrogenic mandibular fracture are essential. Pathological fracture can result due to stress concentration at the site requiring acute angle resection. To perform marginal mandibulectomy without making acute angles in patients with a lesion in the molar or more posterior region, a submandibular or transbuccal approach is necessary. Compared to the submandibular approach, the transbuccal approach is considered useful as it reduces operative time and prevents injury to the facial and mental nerves. Additionally, this approach does not leave a scar in the surgical field, which is beneficial in subsequent neck dissection for late neck metastasis. Here, we report 2 cases of lower gingival carcinoma in which satisfactory aesthetic outcomes were achieved with an improved cheek-splitting technique for marginal mandibulectomy using a transbuccal approach, taking into consideration the angle of the mouth, design of the triangular flap, and modiolus
